135GLi and 135i Rapid Coupe thread

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I've thought it's time and need to start a new thread on rear engined - fuel injected Skoda cars.

I know there's enormous demand on info and spares on these cars, so let's change ideas, knowledges and tricks what keep these now rare cars alive!

So, all you 135GLi and 135RiC owners make welcome here!

- does your oxygen sensor dying?

- did your Walbro AC quit working?

- are you having issues with your catalytic converter

- are you missing rare parts of your car

Let's come together and help to each other.

Someone I know in Toronto liquidated the remaining stock of a former Skoda dealership (the last ones closed in 1989 in Canada).

There are a few 135 GLi parts in the mix.

I agree us 135 and 136 owners should have more resources to keep our cars running.

www.skodacanada.ca and www.ladausa.net/forum are good canadian references.

Of course, we can't forget: http://www.skoda135gli.tk/

Patrick, what's the VIN number of your GLi?

It can be found on the metal part above the headlamp on the right and looks like e.g. 90250.

Knowing that number we can tell when a certain car was built in Kvasiny.

What GLi parts does he have?

How many GLis left in Canada? Do you know all of them?

He hasn't opened up to me much. He told me he could sell me some stuff if ever I wanted... but he never acted on this statement.

www.skodacanada.ca has a 135 GLi registry that is slightly more up to date than the Finnish one at www.skoda135gli.tk

I am 100% sure there are two 135 GLis up and about as of 2013. Mine would be the third when it is repaired.

I am assuming that there are max 30 Skodas regardless of model in the entire country, but I am being very generous with that estimate.

I don't have the VIN number on me (the car is at the mechanic's). However, I do recall it being manufactured in October of 1988 in Mlada Boleslav

I don't think she was produced in Mlada Boleslav, as most of the export models were built either in Kvasiny or in Vrchabli.

Please take a look at the VIN if you have the chance.

Then why is there a plaque on my car that says it was manufactured in Mlada Boleslav?

Strange, really strange. I'll find it out.

Hello,

stumbled upon these forums while going about finding stuff for my 135gli project and decided to register and get myself in here.

Weird enough I have found most of the spare parts I've needed so far (gaskets, timing chain, etc.) from the local Skoda dealer around where I live. Hooray, for finnish Skoda dealers, eh? :D

I think my 135 is on the finnish registry on the www.skoda135gli.tk, but it's not under my name, as I haven't contacted the site owner to update the list after I bought the car around 2007 or so.

Anyways, greetings from Finland!

Does your Walbro fuel pump work fine? How about the other specific GLi parts?

A fine running example of a late reg RiC in the UK.

Does anyone know the owner?

No. Do you know the registration number, that makes it easier to track.

This is my 135i...

The silver paint is original as this is the last rear engined Skoda coupe produced. It was owned by Lord Strathcarron in the UK from new until his death in 2006; and now I own it.

I've found the RiC lovely and smooth to drive, if not the quickest. By far and away the biggest challenge I have had whilst owning the car is finding a new exhaust system for it. Anyone any advice on that matter?

She's amazing! I have an original paper picture of her from the day the Lord got it. Is it running fine? Don't you have problems with the oxygen sensor, the catalytic converter or the Walbro fuel pump? How many miles are in the clock?

To be honest, it's impossible to get hold of a new exhaust system for a RiC... It's a pity that those parts are no longer available. Some years ago Boroskoda sold some RiC parts on eBay (catalytic converter, ECU, stripped seat covers etc.) and recently he sold some Catalyst badges.

I'm also having a RiC with J762LBV plate number (the one on my avatar). It's quite a late registered car from January, 1992.

I'm looking for a Walbro AC for her...

Mileage is 39,000 miles. I have had no problems with the running. From day one she has started first time, infact, apart from the exhaust the only problem I have had is with the starter motor. I am keen to source some spare RiC parts though. And the body will need some restoration.

J plate is late. I take it your car is ex-UK? I think I saw her on eBay.

Yep, I bought it off eBay back in June, 2006 from user savagemotorsport.

She's done some 66.000 miles and was fully refurbished in 2007. She's really an eye-catching beast, people are usually staring at it in Hungary while "nobody is driving" on the left front seat. :giggle:

Have you got any more pictures?

It's J419KOS

The vehicle details for J419 KOS are:
Date of Liability 01 03 2014 Date of First Registration 25 11 1991 Year of Manufacture 1991 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1289cc CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker N Vehicle Status SORN Not Due Vehicle Colour BLUE Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

So it is still on the road in the UK somewhere like you say.

Was there much body corrosion?

I love that silver 135 Rob....had no idea you owned it. Are you keeping it as a polisher or using it all the time?

I secured it in April. It has been over at Daverapid's for some remedial mechanical work - all logged in the Owners Club magazine ;) It is a polisher, within reason. Currently it is my only RWD Skoda on the road so getting used as I love them so much. It needs welding and respraying so I am trying to get some capital together to have that carried out (a mortgage can wait!)

The silver paint really suits the car and I'm not normally a 'silver' type person. What happened to the white car, I thought that had had a part resto?

I would never buy a silver car but this was an exception. White car is ongoing - slow progress. This is the latest shot, here
