Skoda Fabia VRS MK 2

Featured Replies

Hello,

Had the VRS around 5 months now and I love driving it puts a smile on my face most days :)!

I had a Swift sport before this one the swift was so much fun just did not have the power !

To be honest I have not done that much to the car yet as I am paying a lot of things off before I start spending on the car.

I am looking in to getting the car mapped next month and I am thinking taking it down to Shark as they are 5 min away just waiting for a good deal on one :) !

After the mapp we will see where it goes from there ;)!

I have had the centre silencer removed from the car and gets a nice little pop till I can get the exchaust system I want

1st day I got the car:

First thing I did was get the headlights like this...

post-97583-0-64808600-1362247381_thumb.jpeg

I did them this way as it gives them a different look to the ones that come with the black pack...I like them to be honest :)

Next I got rid of the horrid chrome grill, I CAN NOT STAND CHROME! (One of my pet hates)

I have been playing round with some ideas for the air filter and to be honest I have tried a number of things and stuck with this at the moment :

What do you guys think about this ?? Do you think it is even doing anything ? Be honest guys !

I have also been in contact with some companys inregards to a EVO 2 bonnet and hopefully will have one this year .

All the advise would be nice :)

Hey JK...

Looking good mate :)

Quite like the look of the lights in these shots... is that some kind of fly screen looking wrap stuck on the front of the lights? From what I've seen these things are pretty difficult to open up.

As for the intake... I'm no expert, but with it's positioning and the way the cold air flows into the standard box, it looks a little restrictive. Not too mention could be sucking in pretty warm air that close to the engine. I know even the little bonnet prop stick get's quite warm on mine after some 'spirited' driving, and it's further away than your intake. I bet it makes a better sound than the stock setup though!

I saw a post somewhere of a VW Racing intake system fitted... looked very neat, although a little cramped. This solution might require repositioning the battery or using a smaller one though. I've only had my car a few weeks, so I'm still hunting around for the best solution for the intake.

Nice job on the grill... did you just get the Monte one and fit it? I'm having some wrap done this week... should have some photos on my own thread within a week. Fingers crossed it turns out nicely.

Yea mate its called goes on the front of the lights it has little wholes in the wrap so it is easy to push the air bubbles out I didn't do it though local tinting place near me did them. Cost me £30 for both headlights and lower fogs , so a lot cheaper than new headlights and can be easy removed with a hair dryer if needed.

Yea I bought the monte grill was really easy to put on took me about 10 minutes and I can't believe my local dealer wanted around £80 to fit it !!

I have seen them kits was just trying to do something different and I failed lol :( very limited with the amount of space etc the above is about 2 hours of me steering at the engine thinking lmao ! Think it may have to come off put the standard box on and get a better filter for it . Like you said it gets very hot metal on the case gets very very hot so not good :( .

When it gets mapped may look in to getting a smaller battery I know a few people have done this may be to much effort with getting it in the Boot .

Defo get some pics with the wrap will be nice to see it ? What wrap you going for? Suppose will have to be thick of stone chips etc .

Skoda has gone in for an oil consumption test today got to take it back in 300 miles :/ had to many problems with this car now I am looking at a new car as I ain't happy !!

I am annoyed they didn't tell me the car had the same problem the month I bought it and had the updated software and breather pipe.

They have also told me if it don't use oil I have to pay for all the testing they carry out (not happy with this also )

Didn't want to start a new thread because I know there are hundreds out there with this problem

I am now car shopping ... Again

I never paid for oil on my tests, even if it used none. Which it did on one occasion...

Early ones apparently suffered with problems - I think it's pot luck!

I would not worry aout having to pay for any Oil Consumption testing as you will probably end up requiring a new engine and Skoda will know that from your cars History.

They did the Breather Mod, so they must have already done 'Oil Consumption testing' and it met the usage to get the Breather Mod.

No breather Mods have worked as far as i know.

The ECU upgrade was done anyway on 2010 build CAVE engines.

Was it a Dealers Demonstrator in 2010?

With a replacement engine fitted you really should have no worries.

If the Manufacturers Warranty is going to be out in 6 months, see about getting an Extended Warranty through Skoda as a Gesture from them.

How many miles now on the Engine?

Sorry for late response been busy , it wasn't a demo car but the history would indicate the previous owner got rid after the first oil consumption tests.

If it has a new engine I would definitely be after a 12 month extended warranty for free , are the new engines a lot better then ? Cos been so close to get rid .

I have around 48k miles on the car .

My brothers Octavia vrs eats the fabia alive think this may because how bad it is running at the moment

Well a new engine should have it running properly,

something wrong with it if its slower than an Octavia vRS.

Do you know if it was a car that needed replacement Coils or Spark Plugs,

& did it get an ECU Update as part of hsving a Service or with the Breather Modification done at any point?

The ecu and breather mod where both added to the car in October I got the car in November.

The spark plugs are just pure black and they had to clean them they said.

Gone to get the car today and they have said the car hasn't used hardly any oil using about 0.156 of a litre.

So I have a car that drives like 1/2 of the car when I bought it and skoda will not do anything about it due to no problems

I have been up to skoda around about 10 times since November with a number of problems and I have really just come to the end of it .

To pay of the finance I will need £9600 but they will only give me around £7500 for the car

Really don't know where to go with this I can't afford the time of work to keep taking the car to skoda with the hassle I am really thinking about taking a 2k loss on the car

Not ideal but I really can't put up with it anymore

Would any body be able to tell me how much oil these cars should be using in 300 miles for skoda to provide a new engine ?

The general guide is that it should be using no more than 0.5L per 1000km. Which would be around 0.25L/300 miles. That's far too much really, but that's where you would need to be at before they will look at doing much beyond the breather mod and other band-aid solutions.

I know it's girly but I took the new mazda mx5 for a spin and it is the best feeling car I have drove ... Retractable hardtop and the face lift model , don't get me wrong not as quick as the vrs but a lot more fun !!!

Your vRS must have been using oil when first tested for it to have had a breather mod.

how much oil are you having to put in,

& do you know the correct way to check the oil level?

?? What are the problems that you have had to go back with around 10 times?

With 48,000 miles on the clock, has it had new Spark Plugs fitted yet?

(at its 3rd Service possibly, has it had 3 oil and filter services?

Service schedule is for Spark Plugs at 40,000 miles)

Best get onto Skoda UK Customer Services while the car is still in Manufacturers Warranty and get things sorted out so that the car is as it should be..

Sadly £7500 is all it is worth with that miles on it,

plenty around in the Trade that can be bought for around £8,000.

Its going to struggle to get £7500 in a trade in if you let it go out of Manufacturers Warranty without having any problems sorted out.

They have told me the breather mod has worked since they did the last tests , when I questioned this they said most of these mods work for the oil consumption problem.

How will I find out if the spark plugs where done or not at 40k will customer care know this ?

I have used about 2 and half litres of oil since November around 5 k miles I believe , Don't know the best way to measure it but would be very handy to know !

Problems where to start will do a list:

Central locking

Bluetooth

Arm wrest fell off

boot panel clips broke

Back firing

window seals

ESP light and engine management light kept coming on (Advised nothing wrong with the car , had to get videos to prove this !!! ) Even though they should show on code finder

Oil tests

Most of these I had to go up 2 or 3 times before anything was done I probably have forgotten some problems.

I am dealing with Skoda customer care and I can not fault them , they are very helpful and very easy to deal with

Just really don't trust the car anymore and really not enjoying it , all I get is sorry Mr Kimberley we will look in to the problem,

I just can't see how it can go from using loads of oil making all the plugs black, throwing smoke out back to not using any oil what so ever in the 300 miles they tested it.

Wish I did measurements through out the test to see how much it actually used.

Soot out the back is pretty usual because the engine runs rich when cold & then exits the exhaust when you give it some.

Thats not really a problem.

(if its Soot/Smoke and not oil.)

Back firing is a problem though, and you need that sorted obviously,

The service record, or invoices should show if spark plugs were changed, they had to be paid for.,

If they were changed as a Warranty item, then that should have been recorded as well.

they certainly should have been checked when the Back Firing was investigated.

If not changed they need to be by 48,000 miles.

Did it get a 'proper oil consumption test' recently?

New Oil and Filter and oil weighed, then oil dropped and weighed?

Not just dipping the oil to see what is used.

The only way you can know whats used is by keeping record of what you have added to keep to the correct level which was the same level as when it had 3.6 litres first in.

You need to know the correct level in the first place.

Good luck with it.

Sorry I haven't responded on this post ! But the car has really broke now it keeps losing power in all gears and I don't get any reverse . I am that annoyed with the car I have now bought a new sensible car to get away from the fabia bit gutted as I did enjoy it when it drove nice !.

Just like to say thank you to everyone who has provided me with a lot of informatin with the problems I have been having !

Where has the car gone to, traded in?

Not repaired by Skoda then, 'While it was still within Warranty',

Engine Replaced & Gearbox Replaced if that was faulty?

Some information would be helpful to other owners having problems,

or some person that is going to get landed with your old car.
