Adding Outside Mirror Lighting to the FL mirrors

Recommended Posts

I have fitted this to my Vrs

and the other day I fitted them to RickST170 Blackline

Good news is that the lights work fine on a car which doesn't have the light sensor

So when the car is unlocked the light comes on, or if the door is opened with the headlights on.

when locking the car the light stays on for a short period after locking

The parts required are not cheap and the job requires the mirrors to be removed

Dealer Price, you will get a small discount

Lower Trim 3T0 857 603A = £5.24

Lower Trim 3T0 857 604A = £5.24

4x small screws = £0.80

Light Unit 3T0 945 292 = £33.98

Light Unit 3T0 945 291 = £33.98

How to do

Remove the Door Card

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/47196-how-to-remove-octy-ii-door-cards-speaker-sizes/

remove the trim which sits at the top by prising the clip out at the base and sliding it towards the window

then undo the Torx bolt which holds the mirror

The light unit doesn't come with bulb holders, I will need to figure out what to use.

The door card needs to be removed, then the vent trim to allow access to the bolt that holds the mirror in place

Mirror needs to be dismantled and the tape on the wiring loom needs to be removed

Undo all the screws and remove the mirror motor and prise the mirror apart

Then undo the tape

and join into the Blue and black wire for the ground and run the power wire to the plug

Power wire needs to be added to Pin 10

Ground wire needs to be joined into the ground wire (blue & Black)

Coding

VCDS > Door Controller > Coding add 2 to the existing coding

What did you use as bulb holders in the end?

took the spare one i had to the dealer and they suggested a fabia 2 headlight loom for £9. A bit of a waste as it was the sidelight holder I wanted. I had to seal the end with some black sealant and add some tape to make it fit better

I've bought some of ebay too which were not suitable. I have now ordered some of these to see if they are a better and cheaper option

Thanks, Any update on the ebay bulb holders? I'm thinking of doing this soon.

I take it the bulb holders fitted to mirror lights at the factory are not available on their own?
