Water pump

Featured Replies

I have a skoda fabia1 2009. It has done 28,000 miles.

it went in for its annual service yesterday and I was told that water pump was leaking and needing replacing. No signs of leaking.

This does not seem usual.

Anyone had similar situation?

Yes it's normal for the waterpump to be done at the same time as cambelt.

This shouldn't be in the tech shed though.

even after such low mileage?

There is a time limit on the parts as well as mileage. Waterpump normally gets done as a precaution at the same time as the timing belt. The timing belt is the big bit so doing the pump at the same time saves a potential big bill for not a lot extra.

How do you know the water pump isn't leaking? Have you asked them to show you the leak?
