Impulse buy today - Wing mirrors question?

Featured Replies

Went out for cat litter today and popped into the local dealer next door to look at the Rapid. I'd been toying with replacing my aging MK1 Octavia but wasn't quite ready to do it. Then they offered me a deal on the already reduced, ex-demo SE 1.6 TDI CR 105PS with almost all the options added (Climate control, Sat Nav/Dab unit, heated sports seats, parking sensors, etc, etc). I didn't bite so they sweetened the deal with £1000 deposit contribution and 2 years free servicing. Collecting on Thursday... nervous and excited at the same time!

When I was looking over the car I noticed the wing mirrors appear to be fixed but then forgot to ask, can anyone confirm this?

PS Never did get cat litter!

You can fold the mirrors in.

Congrats on the new purchase! :-)

Going out to buy cat litter and accidentally buying a car. Ahaha :D

;) Good move I say!

Welcome to the club!

Cool, another one joins the club. What colour is it?

Has the standard offer of £1000 SUK contribution and three years servicing for finance now finished then? Certainly nicely specced. :)

Brilliant Silver, not my first choice but it seemed like too good a deal to turn down.

They look good in silver. Shows off the sharp lines nicely.

Which dealer did you buy from?

It only technically applies to new cars, this was registered 6 months ago and has a few 1000 miles on it. They told me they tend to spec out the first demonstrator they get so they can play with the toys. This is the list, some of these are now standard on the SE but at the time they were all extras I think:

17" Camelot Wheels

Spare Wheel

Metallic Paint

Sunset Glass

Reversable Boot liner

Sports Seats

Mats

Touchscreen Sat Nav & DAB Stereo

Mobile Device Interface

Rear Parking Sensors

Climate Control

Heated Front Seats

Played with the stereo/ sat nav (even paired it with my phone and played music over bluetooth) I was very impressed with it's functionality. Not sure about the comfort of the seats and it's a shame it doesn't have the steering wheel controls or electric rear windows, but those are insignificant.

6 year old daughter was sold when she realised her seat was heating up!

I'd have chosen a darker colour. The bog standard petrol SE I was originally specing came to £1130 more than this and would have massively depreciated the second I drove it away so I decided not to be picky.

Beadles in Maidstone was the dealer.

The seats are good.. any car seats take some time getting used to when you change though.

I loved the sports seats when I sat in a demo. They certainly feel uhm... supportive I suppose. I think they also put on airs that the Rapid is sportier than might actually be true, which is cool.

Also, one thing about the solutions finance is that I don't really care about residuals - when the time comes I'm of the strong opinion that I'm very likely to part-ex it rather than give it back or pay a lumper to buy it.

One of the biggest reasons I bought the Rapid in the first place was because of the deposit contribution as finance would have been near impossible for me and my meagre income otherwise. But hey, minimum wage goes up in October! WOOP! haha :dull:

I'm not convinced by the sports seats, I like a bit more lumbar support. I'm hoping to part-ex at the end and am hoping this will all help me have a better deposit next time as going back to the non-touch screen version may smart a little! ;-)

That's what I'm hoping, I broke the adjuster (can only replace the whole seat back!!!) on the Octavia so the lumbar is full-on all the time - maybe that's what I'm used to!

The seats in mine (I don't have the sports ones) definitely offer more side support than my old Fabia, so if I take a bend a bit enthusiastically I get thrown around less :-)

Got sports seats in mine, very comfy. Similar to the sport seats in my fabia vrs.

Nice spec, seems all the early demo Rapids had those options. Certainly makes for quite an upmarket feeling car IMO

nice spec, now they seem to be a bit more realistic with price they are starting to move a bit more

Reminds me of the old fast show clip:

"Did you get the tea bags??? Even better than that!!!! I got a heated car seat warmer, a hollow flask, and a cat bra."

nice spec, now they seem to be a bit more realistic with price they are starting to move a bit more

Be interesting to see what How Many Left say about Rapid numbers registered once the Q1 results for this year are posted.

Back to the folding mirrors   Yes they do fold but it certainly isnt easy to do and to think I as good as live in a gym!!!

I did a similar thing to you ended up with Brill silver but wanted a candy white difference was £4000 between a dealer (white) and motorpoint (silver)

Silver is easier to look after as well, plus my last car (civic) was also silver.
