Most puzzled.

Anyone know why they've decided to run it from this aftenoon,(Sunday) therefore finishing on a Monday?

Got to be a first this having tracksport / motorsport /race on a Monday.

It just doesn't feel right somehow.

Think it was a Bank Holiday in a lot of Europe yesterday.

I email a lot of my company's offices in Europe and I seem to get no read recipts or replies yesterday.

Mainland Europe has different holidays in May.

Often have May 1st or nearest working day rather than first Monday in May and then a second holidy later in May but not the last Monday in May like we do.

We sometimes do this for some of our rac events like BSB I seem to recall.

You're right.

It was indeed a bank holiday in Germany yesterday.

Should have realised and known this when I saw the race stopping rain battering down though actually. :D

Just on my way back from the N24 and yes it was a BH on Monday. Unfortunatly if they'd ran it on the normal sat/sun they'd of missed the atrocious weather that arrived on Sunday evening causing the race to be red flagged just after 23.15 hrs. It re started at 8 am.

Good news was Sean Edwards (uk) and some Germans won the race in a not to shabby Merc SLS which makes this most wonderful thundering noise. Seriously quick drivers doing 8.38 min laps! Respect!

Oh and some German geezer called Schumacher did a lap in a F1 car which was a bit crap as he had to keep to a set Lap time so he was going slow or it would be deemed to be testing and zat iz against ze rules!

I have a short clip of him exiting Kallenhard.

Good man!

Watched it online with the help of the most satisfactory Radio Le Mans.

That rain was almost unreal, and such a shame.

Should put it back to mid June where it used to be.

Where you stay then?

Normally in a appartment in Adenau just down the road from the Rewe supermarket but this time did it on the cheap by sleeping in the car (2 nights) First time I've slept in my car! Done most other things in it though lol!

Just on the boat ifor the Rotterdam -Hull crossing right now .

Never considered that crossing.

Any good?

How much?

How long's it take, (the crossing) and does it shorten the journey both here in the UK and over there at all?

I use the usual very cheap suspect when I go.

Dover- Dunkirk, but that drag from up here (and back) to Dover is a right pita

Pretty sure that's the one I stock up on on the Friday.

Bet you were mighty glad you weren't tenting it ey? :giggle:

The Hull-Rotterdam crossing cost me £232 return with a 2 berth cabin. It takes 13 hrs so you can eat , drink and sleep and arrive full of beans. Total mileage this way for me is 400 miles against almost 600 miles via Dover @£60 say. I can do the 600 miles in a day but SWMBO no likey as it's a mini endurance test and she ends up very grumpy so a hotel near Dover the night before needs to be added to the cost.

Been doing these trips for 14 years and the Hull crossing is the most enjoyable.

Going by the mileage you quote, i guess you're pretty close to me?

Which town in N.Wales do you live in?

Anyways....DID YOU ENJOY IT?

Beats Le Mans hands down imo, as good as that is too though.

Yes even though weather was crap I enjoyed it! Great racing !

I'm in Llandudno .

Done many a trip to Le Mans 24hrs too but for the bike version held in April from 1983-1990 .

Took the usual videos of cars going around and around and muddy camp sites ect but thought I'd share this Sunday afternoon drive by some ex German F1 racer called Schumacher. He was under strict instructions to go slowly otherwise it would be classed as testing and that's not allowed.

Another video of the Monday morning re start after things dried up a touch after some shocking weather over night.

There's obviously a lot of discussion about the new consoles at the moment and what they can offer compared to the old ones other than just better graphics, while I was watching the Nurburgring 24 hour I was thinking how much I'd like to see a company harness the increased performance to be able to simulate something like 175 odd cars that were racing. It's a shame in a sense GT is coming to the PS3 rather than PS4, although I'm not a big GT fan the developer's involvement in endurance racing in general as well as the Nurburgring would make them a good contender to produce a decent next gen endurance setup.

Quite a fascinating race with the Audi's seemingly holding the line to begin with, then that Aston Martin and the Porsches were looking good until the red flag however in the morning it had changed to BMW challenging the SLS's. Absolutely fantastic push from the Z4 near the end to give a great finish.
