Rapid Sport for sale

Featured Replies

I like the fact it's got no MOT (athough are assured it doesn't need much) and yet it has MOT on the reg number.

But I'm daft like that. :)

No MOT. Ironic given the number plate...

Edit: beaten by BOSSFOX while I was typing - we think alike...

Looks nice, but the interior of the new Rapid is nicer...

Why don't Skoda/VAG make any RWD cars any more?

Because RWD is expensive to make. FWD is also more predictable in handling terms which is why only Mercedes and BMW of the main stream manufacturers still produce a comprehensive range of RWD cars.

Fair comments, and thanks.

Could it not be a way to separate Skoda, VW & Audi though?

Just thinking out loud...

I'd be over the moon if they made another rear engined coupe - can't see it ever happening though! Anyone fancying this?

It would be brilliant, but in the current market rear engine rear drive would be expensive to make and unless it had a very well developed set up a la modern 911 it would be viewed as treacherous by a lot of people.

I am actually tempted. Ned to get my backside in gear and sell mine. From superb to rapid :joy:

Only issue is superb hasa tow bar, anyone got a spare trailer?

As Briskoda site owner you know you have to! Buy it, mot it and get it to Gaydon...

Yes, but you're not exactly local Colin!

indeed, hence spare trailer...

My gut says I should have it... if it will mot easily, if not find a local garage to mot/work it and get the train down.

It looks in great condition otherwise and it's as close as I'll get to owning a Porsche :)

Emailed to find out some more... eek classic car owner I might be, seed is sown I fear.

I believe the Rapid Sport has now sold......to someone from CZ

Porsche are VAG aren't they? Perhaps Skoda can steal an old 911 platform? :)

Yes just got the email back from vendor, although not a totally done deal. I've got little reason to expect it won't happen. Too much umming...

Perhaps we should create a restoration fund so we can save them as they appear...

There are plenty of people out there who want to save them! Just don't start tuning them.......that's how you end up broke like me!

The Sport and Cabriolet models nearly always go to CZ because they were a GB dealer modified model and therefore super rare if you collect old Skodas like the Czechs do. They love them and values over there are higher than here.

£1500 is a good price for the car. If you want it get down the vendors house with cold hard cash tomorrow... otherwise as we're seeing it'll be off to Czech. They'll spend on these like no tomorrow. So speed is of the essence.

 Colin. I think everyone that owns an old Skoda would agree that although they are far from the best car in the world their fun, loveable charm is very infectious! They have certainly taken over my life! Would be great if you could get to Stanford Hall on Sunday where I'm sure there will be some old Skodas to have a look at as well as modern ones.

;) I'd of course have to recommend that you join the Owners' Club because it's as lovely as Briskoda

Its dropped in price since it was on ebay, does anyone know the name of the colour or material of the seats as they are the same as mine :)

would love to find a roll of this l know its a pipe dream..

Seats are standard Rapid ones.....ask about and I am sure you will find some - they didnt wear nearly as badly as saloon seats.

From what I gather the material is really rather difficult to replicate which makes a retrim hard. Rear benches fade like no tomorrow. However they're uber comfortable!
