Remap/gearbox issues

Featured Replies

Had a knocked noise start today and my mechanic has pointed out it could be a drive shaft or gearbox problem

The car is a 04 vrs, I was wondering if any of you with a remap had, had any problems with the gearbox after?

It's bugging me not knowing till I can get it looked at again

Cheers

what sort of knocking noise? whats it sound like? does it stop if you pull up at lights or carry on?? is it standard clutch / dmf?

Standard clutch, it's knocking like tick tick tick but a bit of grinding too, hard to explain

At really low speeds I can't hear it, starts at around 10mph at a guess

I'm sure it stops when I turn tho but I'll have to check on a car park tomorrow to confirm

if you get change may be worth a crawl under car to check cv boots are in tact ....

Standard gearboxes have run 250bhp + with no issues so it'll be fine on a map.

Simple way of ruling out the gearbox.

When its making the noise put your clutch down.

If the noise stops then the noise is coming from either the clutch/ flywheel/ release bearing or gearbox

If the noise is still there u can rule out the above ^ :)
