Is it too long in the tooth?

Featured Replies

I have a vrs with almost 130k on the clock, although I look after it and the service history is fantastic (services every 6 months regardless) is it too high mileage wise to get it remapped? Am I better off waiting and saving for a lower mileage car and doing it to that?

Don't be daft, yours has just been run in. Mines done 144k and has just started returning 46+mpg on a run lol. Milage don't really matter on these engines as they're pretty bullet proof

My mk4 golf 1.8t has 170k on it now and still going strong.

Read an article in Performance VW a couple of months ago where the highest mileage 1.8t in the US has just been traded in. Its covered almost 400,000 and as such VW bought it and are studying why the engine lasted so long.

So its looking good for a while yet

Mines on 122k and was remapped in march on 121k. Ive seen these engines with alot more miles on, with alot more then a remap on
