Skoda paint question

Featured Replies

Okay I'm kicking my heels until I collect my 'new' Fabia as I am waiting for the DVLA to register my personal plate (about 2 weeks I'm told).

My car is in 'Sprint Yellow' and looking through Skoda website it is referred to as "Overthick Paint" It is £495 optional just as the metallic. Then there are the "solid colours" for which no extra is charged.

Does anyone know what 'Overthick paint' is and how is it different to 'solid colour'?

Put another way then, Skoda do their paints in Metallic and Overthick as optional (£495)and Solid as standard. Anyone know what Overthick paint is and how it differs from the others?

Can you link to which website describes the option as 'Overthick' , is it one being translated to English?

If you go onto the Skoda website ( just google 'Skoda') and on there you can 'build your own car'. When you come to the colour of paint you wish to select that's where it gives you the choice of Metallic, Overthick (yellow only) and solid paint. What confuses me is why only Sprint Yellow is available in this 'overthick' whatever that is!!

If it was simply thicker paint I would have thought that option would have been available in all the solid colours?

I see it now on the configurator. but never spotted it before.

Let us know what the Dealers explanation is please when you ask them.

I have only seen Solid Yellow, none vRS Fabias,

no idea if the vRS in Sprint Yellow will come with a different Clear coat lacquer applied.
