No more stone chips!

Featured Replies

Just had some VentureShield 3M protective film applied to the bonnet, bumper, lights, door sills and rear bumper.

That should keep the stone chips at bay for a while!

I've had paint protection film applied to previous cars and found it brilliant. This job was done in a few hours to a very professional standard - very impressed indeed by Autoshield Protection, Bealim House, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Here's some pics during and after:

Just get a white Citigo like me. Save on non metallic and undercoat is generally white anyway lol.

Seriously though, looks like a good idea. Is it expensive ?

I love white - especially on small cars, it looks really cool, but having had a Panda 100HP in white I found it almost as bad a black for showing dirt (especially tar flecks). Yes, stone chips don't show as much.

Protection film was £299- I'll leave it up to you to decide if that's expensive. For me it's worth it...

I really needed this! Bit late now tho :(

L'Oreal user by any chance?!!

I'll get me coat........

White is particularly bad for showing the iron spots (rail dust ??). Makes new car look rusty !!

I've just given mine a quick wipe over with Autoglym SRP, just on the bonnet and front and rear valances. There were a few black specs that wouldn't come off with ordinary washing. Must say it's chip free after nearly 9 months motoring. Done quite a few motorway journeys and I know it's had quite a bit thrown up at it from the road in all weathers. So is it really the protection from the Autoglym Lifeshine I had done, or have I been lucky with no paint damage, yet! I was a little suspect as to whether this treatment was any use really and still don't know whether it was worth the extra I paid, thinking I could have don't that myself. Time will tell.

Back on topic. Not sure if I would have this clear stone protection done. I'm just thinking, how long does it last for, does it yellow with age? But that's just me always looking for a problem that's not there. I've seen it before, I think to some top end cars. My last car a Vauxhall was very poor paint finish on the front and bonnet, peppered with stone chips, this would have been ideal on that.

It is a 3M product which has been refined over many years and is one of the best available. I have used it on various sports cars over the last 10 years and can say from experience that it does not yellow and does not cause the protected area to fade at a different rate to the unprotected area. I saw one of my old cars about a year ago and the film was still in tip top condition and had been on for almost 5 years...
