Skoda 110 TDI - Limp Mode - Throttle Actuator (G186)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone :) my 2002 Skoda Octavia TDI, keeps going into limp mode every so often. I had the codes read with vagcom and got the following

17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62)
P1256 -- 35-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
17966 - Throttle Actuator (G186)
P1558 -- 35-10 - Electrical Malfunction - Intermittent

Anyone got any idea please how I can fix this?? It is really annoying..

Thanks

Update to the latest version of VCDS and post the whole scan.

What is the engine code?

You can find this on the options label under the boot carpet or in the service log book.

It doesn't make sense as the ASV (can see from the CL at the end of the ECU part code) engine doesn't have a Throttle Actuator (G186). Does it come back if you clear it? Is this a genuine version of VCDS?

The 17664 fault code almost certainly means that the CTS needs to be replaced. It's best to fit a genuine one. The aftermarket ones are a bit hit and miss.

Hi thanks fr the reply, when I looked around on google I came across somewhere which said the throttle Actuator is built in to the fuel pump? it may cost me loads to get it rebuilt :( or replaced

G186 isn't an unknown component - it is the motor in a petrol throttle body.

As the ASV is a diesel, there is no throttle. The closest thing to a throttle would be the metering adjuster in the fuel pump and that is N146.

Hi everyone :) after clearing the codes yesterday, I took it for a 40 mile trip today. I lost power again :( Come back and read codes and got this

1 Fault Found:

17965 - Charge Pressure Control
            P1557 -- 35-00 - Positive Deviation

Readiness: N/A

Thanks

Altogether now...

sticking vnt mechanism in the turbo.

Break out the Mr Muscle! - there is a guide by Lofty on how to do this, I think it is general guides.

Now, that makes more sense. I'd replace your VCDS lead - it's not reliable :)
