Fitting a reversing camera to the positive terminal on the reversing light

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

Sorry if this has been posted before but just joined this forum. I have a 2012 Fabia greenline.

I have just brought a forward and rear facing in car recorder after an insurance incident that is ongoing. The rear camera doubles up as a reversing camera and the lead from it is just a 12v single cable. Where can I connect this to. It says the positive terminal of the reversing light. So do I have to actually put the cable to the bulb or can I do this in the car?

Any photos much appreciated.

Thanks for the help in advance

It means the positive feed wire to the bulb. If you remove the rear light cluster and identify which wire it is you can splice into this. However I don't know if you will need to use a relay in case the current draw from the camera upsets the canbus system.

I fitted a reversing camera to a VW t5 during a conversion recently with no issues.

Cheers.

Yeah thought as much but haven't got a Haynes manual. Anybody on here likely to have done a cluster removal thread?

Do you know if you can tap into it in the car rather than the cluster?

It's straight forward to remove the cluster, it's the black plastic nut inside the boot. You can then remove the rubber grommet and acces the wiring. The hard(er) part is removing the plastic side trim if you need it off.

There is a thread on fitting reversing sensors if you search for it, or perhaps someone will be along shortly to point you in the right direction. This will show you what you need to know.

Thanks for all this, much appreciated. Joke of it is just fitted the front camera and it has a dead spot on the screen so going to have to wait to get it replaced before doing anything.

Cheers
