oh the wisdom of the local council.......they have placed a speed warning unit on ballyroan rd in rathfarnham......it flashes up your speed as you approach it!!.....great you say!!......the wee boy racers with exhausts costing more than there cars are driving up to it at normal pace then flooring it to see how fast they can increase their speed!!!.......at 3 oclock in the morning!!....wonder how long it will be up there now ive informed the gards?!!!

I think you'll find it's limited beyond which it won't show the speed. The ones we use I usually limit to about +15mph of the speed limit, otherwise as you said, it encourages boy racers to try and set a maximum. Ours just don't show anything above a certain speed.:)

Many years ago, our company thought it would be a good idea to install one of these on the site ring road to showcase the new technology as well as making people aware of the speed they were doing. I think it lasted about a week before they realised that employees were competing for the fastest speed :eek::rofl:

Now they have lovely speed cushions in its place :thumbdwn:
