ACC & Front Assist warnings
octavia5 replied to 9fingers's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Have you tried tuning it back on - not sure about the Octy but in my golf there is a button on the steering wheel which turns ACC on and off and I occasionally find I have pressed the button unintentionally and I get the same message - just press again and it turns back on. -
Thanks, Just reinstalling now, will try again later in the week when I have time.

No, followed the instructions to the letter as have not used VCDS for some time so had to read up on Ross-Tech

VCDS not running on new Laptop Went to use my genuine VCDS Hex+Can on my 2015 R today so fired up my new HUAWEI Ryzen5 Windows 11 Laptop, downloaded the latest Version and off to the car. Have used the cable on this car before but not with this Laptop. VCDS would n ot recognise the cable so I went onto Roos-Tech site and check for issues, removed reinstalled, booted into Safe Mode which was listed as a dead cert to get it running, tried different USB sockets (all USB3) but nothing would persuade VCDS to recognise the cable. Went back indoors and dug out my old 11inch Notebook from 2012, running Win7 on an Atom, charged the battery and waited. This is running a 2020 version of VCDS which I had previously used on my R, connected it up and the cable was recognised and all worked perfectly. Have been unable to find any more info as to why the latest VCDS would not connect via my Win 11 Ryzen machine. Has anyone encountered similar issues and have a fix/suggestion I can try to get it working.

Given that as you move forward fresh air is forced through the front of the intake the chance of sucking any hot engine air into the intake is remote - however if you run the motor on a dyno without adequate cold air coming into the engine then you might just see a small increase in power.

AirCons do not need to be 'serviced' unless there is a problem, If the Aircon still blows nice and cold then it does not need servicing - work on the principle that if it not broke don't fix it. I the cabin smell bad when the heater/Aircon is running - change the \pollen filter, if that does not fix the smell then buy a cleaning bomb for Halfords or similar for £10, an easy DIY job. Sell a service is a simple up-sell and pure profit at the prices they charge. I ram my Octy for 7 years without the need for a service and my R at 6 years is still blowing as cold as ever.

Everything is removable with a large enough hammer, as long as there is nothing behind it you should not have a problem with careful drilling but suggest you try and source a spare dummy cover for when you try and sell the car on as it will put of future buyers with a hole in the dash.

2016 Octavia rear light cluster
octavia5 replied to Doug1974's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
When I did something similar on my Oct I had to replace the whole unit - search Ebay as they are often available from scrappies - and easy job -
Re the battery losing charge - have you by any chance plugged in a new camera or other accessory, the cigy hole is live all the time so would cause a drain, are the internal lights going out when you lock the car. As suggested above if you do not use the car very often and have mains access connecting a trickle charger would be a good idea when you leave the car.

Expansion bottle replacement
octavia5 replied to Scout151's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Anyone near NN29 needing a new coolant tank - I have a new one I bought for my Golf but did not need as I managed to removed the dreaded bag intact - advert now in Free section - collection only from NN29. Golf and Octavia fitment is the same. -
Octavia VRS Mk3 TSi Discs & Pads problem?
octavia5 replied to Cappy899's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I doubt there is a problem as pads do not normally cover the whole of the disc surface, I have similar rust circles on my Golf R with OEM discs and pads. If the brakes are working fine I would not worry. -
Garage Door Opener retrofit?
octavia5 replied to JayLibove's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I believe you can search 'google' for third party offerings but be careful not to go for the type that is also a Radar Jammer - the police will throw the book at you if you do. -
Short answer is yes, there are lots of threads about this. If you put the same type of battery in then all you need to do is update the serial number , but if you change the type of battery (not make but actual type) then you need tell the management system what type battery you have fitted.

Heated Drivers seat mat burnt out
octavia5 replied to Alank51's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Could be cheaper to find a seat from a scrappy or Ebay and fit it yourself if they will not budge on the warranty. Skoda UK might be persuaded to offer some goodwill as you bought from a dealer and only had the car a few months
