  1. Have you tried tuning it back on - not sure about the Octy but in my golf there is a button on the steering wheel which turns ACC on and off and I occasionally find I have pressed the button unintentionally and I get the same message - just press again and it turns back on.
  2. I had the same problem and found that first wiping over the whole dash with a glossy dash cleaning cloth and doing the same with a Matt dash cleaning cloth solved the problem. Just used the cleaning cloths available from halfords and others
  3. Thanks, Just reinstalling now, will try again later in the week when I have time.
  4. No, followed the instructions to the letter as have not used VCDS for some time so had to read up on Ross-Tech
  5. VCDS not running on new Laptop Went to use my genuine VCDS Hex+Can on my 2015 R today so fired up my new HUAWEI Ryzen5 Windows 11 Laptop, downloaded the latest Version and off to the car. Have used the cable on this car before but not with this Laptop. VCDS would n ot recognise the cable so I went onto Roos-Tech site and check for issues, removed reinstalled, booted into Safe Mode which was listed as a dead cert to get it running, tried different USB sockets (all USB3) but nothing would persuade VCDS to recognise the cable. Went back indoors and dug out my old 11inch Notebook from 2012, running Win7 on an Atom, charged the battery and waited. This is running a 2020 version of VCDS which I had previously used on my R, connected it up and the cable was recognised and all worked perfectly. Have been unable to find any more info as to why the latest VCDS would not connect via my Win 11 Ryzen machine. Has anyone encountered similar issues and have a fix/suggestion I can try to get it working.
  6. Given that as you move forward fresh air is forced through the front of the intake the chance of sucking any hot engine air into the intake is remote - however if you run the motor on a dyno without adequate cold air coming into the engine then you might just see a small increase in power.
  7. AirCons do not need to be 'serviced' unless there is a problem, If the Aircon still blows nice and cold then it does not need servicing - work on the principle that if it not broke don't fix it. I the cabin smell bad when the heater/Aircon is running - change the \pollen filter, if that does not fix the smell then buy a cleaning bomb for Halfords or similar for £10, an easy DIY job. Sell a service is a simple up-sell and pure profit at the prices they charge. I ram my Octy for 7 years without the need for a service and my R at 6 years is still blowing as cold as ever.
  8. Everything is removable with a large enough hammer, as long as there is nothing behind it you should not have a problem with careful drilling but suggest you try and source a spare dummy cover for when you try and sell the car on as it will put of future buyers with a hole in the dash.
  9. When I did something similar on my Oct I had to replace the whole unit - search Ebay as they are often available from scrappies - and easy job
  10. Re the battery losing charge - have you by any chance plugged in a new camera or other accessory, the cigy hole is live all the time so would cause a drain, are the internal lights going out when you lock the car. As suggested above if you do not use the car very often and have mains access connecting a trickle charger would be a good idea when you leave the car.
  11. Anyone near NN29 needing a new coolant tank - I have a new one I bought for my Golf but did not need as I managed to removed the dreaded bag intact - advert now in Free section - collection only from NN29. Golf and Octavia fitment is the same.
  12. I doubt there is a problem as pads do not normally cover the whole of the disc surface, I have similar rust circles on my Golf R with OEM discs and pads. If the brakes are working fine I would not worry.
  13. I believe you can search 'google' for third party offerings but be careful not to go for the type that is also a Radar Jammer - the police will throw the book at you if you do.
  14. Short answer is yes, there are lots of threads about this. If you put the same type of battery in then all you need to do is update the serial number , but if you change the type of battery (not make but actual type) then you need tell the management system what type battery you have fitted.
  15. Could be cheaper to find a seat from a scrappy or Ebay and fit it yourself if they will not budge on the warranty. Skoda UK might be persuaded to offer some goodwill as you bought from a dealer and only had the car a few months
  16. As a wild suggestion, if the nearside light in the UK are supposed to move to the left but your offside light is moving to the right are your lights perhaps set to EU mode - I believe the light setting can be changed in the info unit for when you drive on the continent.
  17. You could bypass the canbus by having a solenoid switched supply direct from the battery and a separate switch in the cabin - not an auto solution but relatively easy to wire.
  18. I would ask Halfords directly if they do recode for the new battery and then ask to watch the techy when he comes to change it, use the info in post further up so you know what to look for. The tool he uses might allow the coding to 'AGM' so may not code to 'Fleece', just be sure he does not use 'Binary AGM'
  19. Just replaced my battery with a Bosch AGM battery, swapping is quite straight forward, when you first start restart the car there will be error lights on the screen but all you need to do is drive the car for around 5 mins and the car will reset and clear the errors. You do need to update the battery settings via VCDS or similar so the car knows how to charge the battery correctly - too many computers these days - you need to change the battery type if you have changed the battery type but do not if you change like for like. You also have to change the battery serial number but this can be a single digit as this is all that is necessary to tell the car it has a new battery. Note. on a Golf if you change to an AGM battery the correct Battery Type is Fleece, not Binary AGM which is apparently another different type of battery which is not available here. So I would expect this to be the same in and Octy.
  20. On the Golf forums there are multiple posts where the Silica bag has burst resulting in expensive repairs - as it nearly always splits when the warranty has run out. The general consensus is to either remove it (carefully so as not to split it yourself), or buy a header tank without one and change it over, and occasionally top up the header tank with neat additive.
  21. Has anyone used one of the newer pocket sized Lithium Ion jump starters on their car. I ask as all the leads on these seem to short to reach from the + terminal on the battery to the bulkhead earth point you are supposed to use according to the manual. Is it safe to connect directly to both battery terminals if you use one of these jump starters in an emergency.
  22. This is a picture of my MK7 Golf R filter at 4400 miles - so I suggest you get it done every 5k or so, no more. Not single launch in this car and no mods of any kind just normal driving for a 71 year old, well normal for a 71 year old that drives an R.
  23. Check out this thread on the Golf R Forum to see just how st!t the filter gets and why it is critical to get the filter cleaned, despite VAG officially saying there is NO FILTER in the Haldex 5. https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/24283-and-the-filthiest-haldex-filter-award-goes-to/page/6/ Also see thread below - great picture of the problem which VAG say dose not exist
