  1. Small world. I'min Todwick too. Drive a Mk3 VRS TDi Race Blue Combi. My second VRS. First one was an 08 Silver Combi which I had from new. Then moved to a S-Line A4 Saloon which I found too sterile. Now back with this new one :-)
  2. I have the same issue, appeared approx three weeks from delivert (car delivered end of spetember last year). Warning does not flag up as soon as you deactivate stop.start (I'm almost OCD in doing so anyway) so was leaving it till I was going to dealers next. Does anyone think it maybe more pressing than that?
  3. Apologies for the bump but has anyone had the bolero out on one of these new models yet and seen what connectors are available on the rear? With the weather getting slowly better I'm going to pick this project up again, but would like any information anyone has before I start the project so I can be prepared. Got almost 10k on the car now, though the audio is still niggling me. The only other issue I will let the dealers sort when I get time (get start stop system malfunction warning, but as I always disable this every time I get in the car out of habit, it doesn't bother me too much). Thanks
  4. I wanted the Canton, unfortunately due to work leaving the ordering too late, I had to stick with what was coming in as stock within the (then) next couple of months, Its here, and while it sounds 'alright' and is not too treble heavy (unlike my original mk2 PD VRS I had before the Audi) it certainly isn't what I'd call ideal. Sound quality is ok, just lacks that oomph at the mid/lower end. As mentioned I traced out the relevant connections on my previous car (Audi A4 s-line) thats just gone back so I expect to have to do the same here. It also seems to have a recurring issue with the bluetooth where when answering a phone call it seems to answer the call but then does;t seem to route the audio through to mic and speakers. I have temporarily disable AD2P bluetooth streaming (as I don't use it anyway) and touch wood, seems ok. Maybe a few more days will tell. Does anyone have any pinout information on the new generation of head units fitted in these cars and if the bolero does offer a pre-out at all of some description (I assume the canton upgrade would have to get its signal from somewhere unless it uses high level inputs?) All in all though, glad I came back to Skoda, this has put the smile back on my face after pootling round in the s-line for 3 years which I found ultimately boring and sterile.
  5. Evening all in order not to impede delivery time too much, I essentially had to settle with what I could get as my company car as my work left it so late to order my new VRS. Therefore the car will have the standard Bolero (correct me if I'm wrong) fitted and I am disappointed with the overall 'weight' of the sound when I have listened to a few different demonstrators. Does anyone know what output options are available at the rear of the new Bolero unit and what connectors they use? Or even have pictures of the rear of the unit in question? I.e. is line line output available directly and are the speakers connected with a normal ISO connector (I doubt it but one can hope!!). If so one of the under the seat units may do me for now (some of which have easy installation looms) Essentially I want to fit at least a subwoofer for now (not decided whether to use the kit I already have or look at a under the seat option instead). I did last have an amplified enclosure fitted in the boot of the Audi A4 S-Line I've just returned. The installation in that was dead-easy as the factory amplifier was in the boot and I managed to trace out and tap into the line-level & remote lines. Also with the battery being in the boot the remainder of the installation was also a breeze. With it being a company car, as long as I can put it 'back to stock' relatively easily and without leaving obvious signs of tamper they don't mind me fitting whatever I like to the new car. Any advice/information is greatly received.
  6. Not looking good for me, just tried booking my '08 PD VRS Combi in for the first maintenance work it's had could have gone in before, but I've lived with niggles). Basically the car has a oil leak at the back of the engine near the turbo (enough for me to have put 4-5 litres of oil in stages in the last week). They can't give me an appointment before the 4th June with a loan vehicle, even when pushed!!! They maybe able to look at the car on Friday, but no guarantees and definately no loan vehicle. ****************************
  7. Yeah, probably Had a few mad installs in the past, but trying to turn a new, mature corner..... honest :P Looking to install new amp'd components in front and rear after this project, but need to keep it looking factory and easily returnable to standard. Hopefully this should be a watch this space.
  8. Wow, that is definately a lot cheaper than I was expecting. The plan is to mount a MDF baffle directly to the rear of the panel and construct a fibreglass enclosure to match the recess of the space available. Will probably be limited to 8" or 10" driver due to cubic foot space available, but should work quite well me thinks.
  9. Am looking for a spare First Aid cover panel from the boot of a Skoda Octavia VRS Tdi 2008 model. Am planning on creating a custom sub enclosure for my car to sit in that side of the boot and need to be able to return it to standard in the future as it is a company lease car. Does anyone know the skoda part number for the item, and a rough guide price? Thanks
  10. I'll try and turn up, buy don't need influence on date/time/location too much as if i can turn up I will depending on work, missus' work and baby sitting arrangements. 08 silver octy vrs tdi combi. Pretty much a month old now and 2.5k on the clock already.
  11. Yay, '08 Octavia VRS owner from Todwick here! Just round the corner again
  12. Just a quick message to say hi. Have just placed an order for my new company car which is to be a diesel octavia vrs complete with free upgrade pack. Have spent most of this weekend reading through these forums and i have learnt so much without even taking delivery of my car yet. This is to be my first vag group car. Have owned peugeots, alfas, fiats and fords previously, but the short time i spent driving a vrs before ordering, completly swung me from my normal choices. hope to speak to you all at some point Matt
