  1. For mitchi cans the open position is with the butterfly fastener up top nearest to the can, closed is with the fastener down bottom furthest from the can.. as YellowCar said this is opposite to the way you would expect it to work
  2. did you check your radiator mounts? I had an issue like this bottom radiator mounts were knackered and it was banging off the air con unit when i pulled off or stopped, I tied it off with a cable tie and stuffed some plumbers lagging in between and it sorted the noise.
  3. had the same issue, try spraying some electrical contact spray on the base of the indicator stalk.. fixed it for me and that was over a year ago
  4. rear bearings are much easier to change than fronts, should cost a lot less if it's a rear one that's gone.. FAG are the OAM manufacturer
  5. "The sound started after fitting 18 inch alloys" - do you still have your old wheels, if so, did you try putting them back on to see if the sound is till there?
  6. The Garage I was dealing with ordered the kit themselves from Skoda - I don't know what part number it was.. it was for a AUQ 1.8T engine code I'm gonna call my local Skoda parts store today just to see how much a kit is with\without the tensioner as €140 seems to be very excessive
  7. Just got my timing belt done at my local garage, they had quoted me €350 all in, genuine Skoda parts before I got it done but when I went to pick it up this evening it was €490.. reason being that there was a part which they reckoned needed to be done that didn't come with the kit - the Belt Damper... they said the damper was an additional €120 +vat from the stealers but it didn't come with the kit and that it should be done each change as they've seen them go in the past on other models.. anyone know does the damper really need to be changed each time the timing belt is done (are they on the same service interval)? and if so why the hell don't Skoda supply it as part of the kit.. ripping at the moment as that 140 quid is money I didn't have to spare
  8. top mount + bearing + grease Bowders has a nice guide here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/308117-how-to-fit-poly-bush-top-mounts/ been looking at doing this soon myself, the 3 types I'm looking at are: http://store.034motorsport.com/strut-mount-track-density-mk-4-chassis-vw-and-audi.html http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/product-details/Front+Strut+Top+Mount+Bush/2167.html http://www.awesomegti.com/oem-leon-cupra-r-top-mount-bushes-pair
  9. Dipetane helps with emissions you can buy a bottle of it for around a tenner, I always throw a half bottle in before the nct test and I've never had a problem with it passing
