  1. Does anyone know how to chage the side/parking light bulbs? I have taken the headlight unit out having readome of the other threads on this site, however I cannot see how to get in to the small black rectangular casing that I think holds the bulbs. Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
  2. Hello, Here is a link to a thread I started on this some time ago, there are some instructions down towards the bottom: http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/memory-seats/49429/
  3. Could it be that the settings for the tilted position have been lost somehow, might be worth going through the process of re-setting them just to see.
  4. Definitely agree with what has been said about the Bridgestone tyres they are extremely noisy! I have just replaced mine with a set of Avons which seem to perform just as well but have made the car so much quieter
  5. I cant fault the seats in my 2.O TDi L&K, and have found them adjustable to the extent that there always seems to be one more tweak that makes them yet more comfortable. I have leather seats which have a three memory positions that adjust all of the seat settings and both door mirror positions. The memories can be associated with the key fobs so the seat moves to the right position for each driver when they open the door. This is particularly useful if like us there is a foot difference in height between drivers.
  6. It's not the exhaust or anything else loose, as it happens when I first start the car in the garage. Lowflyer's description of leaping out expecting to find a dent in the roof is exactly how I felt. It does sound like a sudden pulse through the speakers. I have checked most of the audio connections, indeed have changed some of them as I have removed the CD auto-changer in favour of a auxilliary input for MP3 and DVD. Before anyone asks, yes it did make the noise before I did that. Stacon; when you say your problem was fixed by an upgrade, did you mean they changed the head unit or did a software upgrade?
  7. Occassionaly when I start my car (an octy II L&k 2.0 TDi Est) I hear a loud bang which sounds like someone thumping the roof of the car above my head. There is always a sound like a cable moving too between the roof and the lining. This only happens occassionaly and when it does the radio is switched on tuned to an FM channel. I wonder if it is the ariel cable that I can hear moving between the lining and the roof but have no idea what the loud bang is. Anyone else had this problem?
  8. I had the same problem and have had the wheel alignment checked, which was a mile out! The alignment has been fixed but the fitter also said that the camber angle is out and there does not appear to be an adjustment for that
  9. Hello all, I have an 06 Octavia L&K estate with the stream HU. Occasionally, when starting the car in the morning, I get this quite loud boom which sounds like something falling off the garage roof onto the car. The noise actually is a loud boom coming through the speaker system and is sometimes followed by the stereo not working at all for 5-10 minutes. This has only happened about 4 or 5 times in nearly twelve months and I wondered if anyone else has experience anything similar that may help the dealers pinpoint the problem
  10. Can anyone advise on how to remove the CD autochanger from the boot of an 06 octavia. I have disconnected the lead at the other end and replaced it with an adaptor for an MP3 connector and would now like to use the space in the boot for a PC or DVD mount. I have poked at it with a screw driver and a bit of coat hanger but it seems stuck fast, they are built pretty well these Skodas.
  11. Sorted! As I said above, the seat memories worked with the 3 buttons at the side of the seat, but not with the remote key. Following the instructions did not seem to associate the key with the seat memory setting as described in the handbook. What worked was to: 1) Leave the key in the ignition 2) Adjust the seats & mirrors as required 3) Press SET and then button 1, 2 or 3 - there should be a beep to confirm 4) Within 10 secs, remove the key from the ignition and press the unlock button on the key fob several times until the car beeps again. I found I had to press 4 times. The seats now adjust when the drivers door is opened after being unlocked with the remote controls.
  12. Thanks for that, I get the first beep but not the second. I have the car booked in at the dealers on Friday to see if they can fix it
  13. let me know how you get on. I have tried to follow the book but to no avail.
  14. You associate the key fob with one of the settings. The idea being that each driver has their own key and the seats adjust when you unlok the car
