Hi guys, As some of you know/remember (or maybe you don't) I sold my 2008 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI DSG some time back and since move to Germany with my 2008 Saab 9-3 convertible. Well since then it's not been plain sailing with the Saab. My Saab ownership consisted of: - Rough gear shifts- finally cured with several gearbox oil changes - One breakdown in France 40km from the Eurotunnel- Alternator and battery died - Starter motor went - Battery cable melted - Xenon bulbs had to be replaced - Swirl flaps broke and took it to someone reccomended to me who made a pigs ear of it and glued everything up resulting in massive boost leaks - Swirl flaps finally removed and sorted elsewhere - Further breakdown caused by blocked MAP sensor - Further breakdown caused by a siezed turbo- Both turbos replaced (they come complete as a set) at a cost of €1,000 - Final breakdown as the engine decided to eat itself for some reason 😞 But other than that it was a lovely car. Flew through 2 MOTs and a German TÜV. We've been to look at a car today and put a deposit down on it. Back in a Skoda! It's a 2012 Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG. The spec is a european spec called "Family" lol. Basically consists of: - Xenons - Auto lights - Auto wipers - Cruise control - 4 electric windows - Removeable factory fit towbar - Maxidot - Auto dim mirror Hopefully picking it up this week if all goes well. So, hi again guys!
  2. Hi everyone. I had a horn problem : when using left turn signal the horn was engaging. More than annoying it started to smoke after some time. So ı decided to check the problem today. I also wanted to put a quick diy on how to disassemble the signal switch. The problem was basically that a smal piece of copper bent with time after makina it straight the problem was gone. On how to disassemble it : take down the screw under the stering wheel and take the bottom cover off. Then disconnect the bottom connector. Then take the flathead screw on the left or right depending on the switch. Finally take out gently the switch and disconnect the last top connector. If you need to disassemble more the switch take it out again. And you are good to go.
