  1. I'm in Ormskirk and have VCDS (Hex+Can). Unfortunately I have no idea how to do what you want but if you can find out how to do it you're welcome to have a go.
  2. Blimey with all those extra toys, even if I waited nine months, I don't think a face lift L&K or even a sport line plus will have dropped to a price I can afford. Having said that, when was the face-lift introduced?
  3. Thanks Sasha, you must have read my mind. I'm going to hang on a bit longer to see if anything else comes up, I'm sure the right one will. Once I'd made up my mind to change my S2 for an S3, and a suitable car came up locally, I think I jumped in too soon. As well as that I find out there could be more toys (SLA) that could have been specced (is that a word?) at initial purchase and for not much money. Now you tell me I could have Matrix LED's with Dynamic Light Assist. My S3 experience will have to wait.
  4. Thanks John. I love my gadgets so when I heard about SLA, from a thread here I had to Google it to find out what it was, I don't understand a lot of the current abbreviations. I decided I would like it on my next car. The trouble is the car I'm looking at is at a local dealer who I know sells good reliable cars, he has a constant turnover of such cars and has a lot of 5 star reviews, so it has got me wondering should I let this car go for the sake of SLA. I know other cars will come along but this car ticks all of the boxes (until SLA came along and threw a spanner in the works), one of which is the fact that its a 2.0tsi. My previous 5 cars have been diesels and like most these days I'm not doing the mileage so I might need to start another thread, just to keep on topic, to ask what I need to look out for, if anything, with the tsi engine. Thanks JR RS for the advice about Erwin, I'll check it out
  5. Thanks all. Thanks JR RS for the picture, looking at that it's obvious that the car I'm looking at doesn't have SLA which is a shame
  6. I've been looking at buying an S3 L&K estate and hoping to find one with SLA. The photo is from a car I'm looking at but having only recently discovered that SLA is only a £100 option on the L&K it would be nice to have. Looking at the headlight with lights on it was difficult with bright sunlight and reflections to tell whether the "eyelashes" lit up or whether they were just chromed. Any opinion appreciated. It's a 2017 67 reg. Also is there any way tell from the reg what was the spec from the factory.
  7. Thanks Redboy. I've never considered a Volvo to be honest. Took me a while to find a T5 on autotrader (I didn't know I had to choose an S60) but it doesn't seem to come in estate form which is what I'm really after.
  8. Thanks John. Something to look for tomorrow.
  9. Thanks both. I hope to be looking at such a car tomorrow and I can't see SLA listed in the features list. I suppose though that there's so much tech in the car that they can't think of and include everything in the list.
  10. Does SLA come as standard on a 67 plate L&K Superb
  11. Well this is embarrassing. No matter when I put the switch to auto the headlights are now dancing for me. I have no idea what I've done to make this happen but I'm starting to doubt whether there was a problem at all and langers is right and I just missed it. I made a point of looking for it on numerous occasions and even now I'm convinced it didn't happen. Oh well
  12. Yeah I wondered that too. I'll test that today, the garage is dark enough for the lights to come on in auto
  13. Thanks chimaera. Something is strange is going on. After playing with VCDS and the lights I decided to put the car in the garage and stick it on charge. Late last night I thought I would try again (with the headlight switched already in the Auto position) and I couldn't believe it when the "dance" happened. The nearside light seemed a bit low compared to the other but who cares. I normally start the car then switch to Auto to turn on the lights, I don't know if that makes a difference, but I'm sure the lights would do their dance anyway, I think I'm clutching at straws here, I don't know. All I know is they stopped dancing after I had the problem with the sensor and now (last night anyway) things seem to be working again. The only thing I did yesterday was play around with VCDS, without actually achieving anything, and I took out my new bulbs and put them back in again as a last straw. Hopefully everything is back to normal and I just have the ventilation flaps to sort out now (according to my VCDS log) Thanks again everyone
  14. Thanks Langers, how do I do that. I keep trying the dance but I get nothing. I've checked the sensors again and they are fitted correctly. There are no error messages so I just don't get it. I misunderstood the YouTube video. I thought it was going to adjust the headlights for me, obviously not. Like I said previously I'm 99% sure the lights were moving as I was driving
  15. The saga continues. I've plugged in my VCDS again and decided to follow a Youtube video about setting up and aligning my xenons after fitting new bulbs. I don't know if it is needed or not. This is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqaJasC_h-A. I got so far and mine seemed to stop at a point in the screenshot below Whereas in the Youtube video the second box had the word "headlights" inserted and as you can see from the Youtube screenshot "Adjust" in the first box whereas mine just had the word "Activate" in the first box and nothing else. I admit I do not understand VCDS too much but I did follow the instructions in the video and couldn't replicate it in my car. I also note that he was using version 17.8.1 whereas I am up to date with version 20.12.0. Does this indicate that there is a fault on my headlights that VCDS isn't picking up.
  16. It is yes. I only ever use the auto position.
  17. I've checked several times now at night and the headlights are definitely not doing "the dance". I'm at a loss now. I'll get the wheels off tomorrow and check the sensors again.
  18. Thanks again langers. The car is parked facing a wall at home so the headlight dance is usually obvious but I'll have another look tonight
  19. This is my scan showing no faults with the headlights, I think. The only fault that is recent is the climatronic flaps fault. I tried the reset buttons but that did nothing. All of the headunit faults are because I changed the Columbus for an android headunit. The only fault at the moment that concerns me is the headlight issue but no faults are showing in vcds, as far as I can tell anyway, I'm no expert with VCDS. 20. Too late thanks I've bought the part and fitted it. I don't think it would have been any good to me anyway as it was the linkage that was broken not the sensor. It doesn't seem to have helped. Prior to me putting the new sensor in I'm sure my headlights did the little dance setting up on first switching on, now they don't but they appear to be turning OK with the steering wheel when I'm driving. There are no warning lights on the dash. Is it possible the front sensor needs changing as well? I've done a VCDS scan and nothing shows up to do with the headlights, just something to do with motorised flaps in the heating vents, I can't remember the exact wording.
  21. Thanks again langers, your knowledge and help is really appreciated. It's good to have to hand all of these sites and suppliers for future reference. Because of my uncertainty and lack of mechanical knowledge I've been in touch with my usual mechanic who deals with TPS a lot so I'll wait and see what he comes back with but if they can't help I will definitely give Coverdale a ring. Bearing in mind what others have said about bulbs I invested in a couple of new Osram Xenarcs (this was before I discovered the faulty sensor) and I have to say the difference is amazing, so much brighter but still obviously pointing down. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
  22. Many thanks Langers. I will take some pictures as soon as I can. Its hard to say from the link if it matches what is on the car. The website seems to indicate that the front is different to the rear. I never considered they would be different. I was going to replace the r front as well as it did seem very stiff, unless it was just under load from the suspension. This is the page I am looking at which, to my mechanically uneducated eyes, seems a clearer image of the rear sensor but I will try and confirm it with some pictures. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-search?keyword=sensor&kbaStr[0]=Fl60mvu&car_id=32788&model_id=8495&maker_id=106&brandNo[0]=6558&sort_categories[0]=3721
  23. Problem solved. Turns out it is a broken linkage on the rear levelling sensor. The problem I'm having is not knowing which new part to buy. On the Autodoc website they show several replacements for my 2010 Superb as just being what looks like the electronic box with a moving plastic lever. Another much more expensive item (£71) seems to show the same electronic box as above but with brackets and metal rods attached. I'll give them a ring tomorrow.
  24. Great thanks, I was about to say I'm sorted thanks. I found a youtube video showing one being replaced on the rear, I missed the bit about the front one. Also it was on a foreign car so on the offside (to us in the UK). Either way it looks easy enough.
  25. Ah right thanks. Where will I find them?
