  1. Agreed! Not that a plan on having a family or anything, but it's nice to actually have useable space. A good boot and some form of backseat is well worth it. Plus the S3's sounds pretty tasty too :B And way more refined than their older counterparts!
  2. I'm quite surprised that the Leon cupra isn't selling much as in person they're quite something. I guess this has a lot to do with more people buying diesel 'hot hatches' over petrol ones due to economy. Not having a VRS fabia 3 in the pipeline is a huge fail in my eyes. Eff off the ridiculous insistence on auto over manual and people will lap it up. It frustrated me when the Skoda head of business said, "only old people buy Skoda's so the vrs just won't work with the majority of our market.' Clearly doesn't know the market then. The fabia 2 vrs models in my eyes didn't sell well because they just didn't look sporty enough! Kind of like a green loaf of bread on wheels. They've got it right with this new model they just need the engines to compliment it.
  3. Thought I'd come over here! I also don't know anyone that owns one, but I work for Listers who franchise Audi, seat, skoda and they said the S1's are selling slowly. I can't help but think it's only to do with its initial very high cost! I know it's an Audi and all but it takes the biscuit a tad. That being said, my one hour test drive in one was a very memorable experience and has made me genuinely think of eyeing one up in the future! Very pleasent to drive around town as well as obviously giving it the beans on the backroads. As a better comparison a bloke at work borrowed one for a month. He's 6'4" and said it felt cramped and he hated the suspension and lack of quality in the interior and the interior size just made him think, why not get a new seat leon cupra or S3 instead for similar money? I disagree, I found the suspension liveable and by no means harsh. I'm 5'11" and didn't find it too cramped, although there is genuinely no room in the back seats. Plus it has tons of character and stupid power for a car so small. Although with the new seat Leon cupra at 27k it seems like a silly decision to spend more on the s1 that comes with less. (Admittedly it's blessed with the Quattro system). One thing I am royally cheesed off at is the fact that after speaking recently with the head of business at Skoda apparently no hot hatches version of the new fabia is in the pipeline. Why?! I just can't understand this. Petrol or diesel, there are people out there that would LOVE to see the fabia go back to it a roots. You can't redesign a car and aim it at younger and sportier drivers and then offer these dire soul destroying measley powered engines. I did say this in person to the head of business too lol. I don't think he understood my passion for the little fabias!
  4. Only minimal stuff! Looking at getting one of these (Milltek Cat-Back Non Res) fitted: http://dfklk0jrz9g9k.cloudfront.net/images/custom/1226.jpg & potentially these alloys: http://www.rotashop.co.uk/rota-boost-18-9-5x114mm-et30-gunmetal-single-rim_p1040578.htm Lots of money to save first!
  5. It's great fun Loved my little Fabia VRS Diesel to bits, but this is a nice step up. Sitting so low in it it really does feel like a proper coupe. Honestly you wouldn't think you're in a Volvo!
  6. Correct :P I just can't get over how much it pulls even past 3k revs. I'd never dream of allowing a diesel past 3k as you'd get nothing more out of it other than it complaining. It's really bizarre but super fun. I still can't over the size of the steering wheel though, honestly it's huge. Not quite sure what Volvo were thinking but it's along the lines of the width of that trophy the women get at Wimbledon. "Hi, this is my C30, I steer it using a plate."
  7. The roar of the 5cyl is very VERY addictive not gonna lie! It sounds epic, about as close to my favourite noise (a V8) that you can get
  8. Well explained in laymen's terms! No you're right, there's no need to fork out for something that isn't causing a problem. Your explanation has helped though as part of the problem is correctly understand how the DPF works and what causes it to go wrong. I for one will never understand why mum's, who literally pick their kids up from school and nip to the shops, why on Earth they need a diesel?! Popped into the Seat showroom at the weekend as my friend was after a Leon. Overheard a salesman pretty much begging this person not to buy a diesel. "How many miles do you do to require a diesel?" "About 4,000 a year I just like diesels." "Have you considered a petrol? With your mileage it could cause problems down the line and it costs you more to run than a petrol." "I want a diesel though." *Sigh* If I did that mileage I'd get the goddamn Cupra.
  9. Completely agree. A friend of mine (who's clearly earning too much money!) has a new S3, and as you said it's not far off the S1. With a almost fully specced S1 you're looking at 30 - 35k. The S1 did have pretty terrible road noise, as refined as it was it certainly wasn't as practical or as refined as the S3 or even the Golf GTI of similar power. Speaking of the new Fabia, I'm genuinely cheesed off at the fact it doesn't look like they'll be releasing it in VRS form. Spoke with someone I know that works as the Head of Business at Skoda and he said it's not in the pipeline. WHY GOD WHY?! If they released that new look Fabia as a VRS model I'd consider that as a next car, it seems loopy to miss the boat on this one don't you think? (Apologies goign vaguely off topic).
  10. Not sure if anyone else has popped something up about the S1 already but thought I'd throw in my two cents! Test drove one about a month or so ago (no intention of buying one new, but wanted to give it a whirl.) I've had a 200bhp turbo Seat Ibiza Cupra petrol before, but this was something else. Not a huge fan of the A1's but the S1 really does look the awesome in person. The speed and the way it delivers it is phenomenal, exhaust had a nice throaty sound, cornered like a dream due to the Quattro element, and fuel consumption wasn't as bad as my old Ibiza. Only downsides would be that the car has back seats but they're useless unless you have no legs, the optional extra's such as the stunning Quattro exterior pack cost an absolute fortune. For what it is, it's bloody expensive. However you realise you're paying for an unreal level of quality and technology that most little hot hatches don't have. Will definitely consider looking into one in about 3-4 years time once they've gone down from their 25-30k current asking price! Spoke to a friend that works for Audi and he's calculated they'll be worth around 12k in 5 years..
  11. Ahh OK, I heard in a few places that cars with older DPF's (mine's 2009) need to sit at constant revs (preferably motorway) as this helps the regen process instead of revs that fluctuate (town or country road driving). This could just be another load of DPF crazies shi**ing me up about something that is less of an issue than people make out!
  12. Oh no that's not what I meant either! Lol You can rest asssured I do indeed use it The lag is quite amusing though..nothing....nothing....WARP SPEED FACE MELTING.
  13. No Thanks guys, I appreciate seeing another side to the DPF malarky! This is honestly the first time I've heard something vaguely positive about it. It's just because I don't use the motorway every day of the week and as I said my journey to work is only country roads it's just constantly in the back of my head! My car has quite high miles on it, but there's other C30 d5's (with DPF) that have done close to 200,000's and never had the DPF go wrong. Wish I'd never Google'd any of this in all honesty! It's only made me more concerned than anything else. Just as a note, I don't drive like a boy racer or like miss daisy. However it does get the occasional boot when the back roads are clear. I don't like the idea of taking it out either, but I 'spose if it ever went wrong I would most likely get it taken out as the cost to replace one seems absurd.
  14. Only reason I'm considering getting the DPF delete is because the internet has made me worry. My job has gone from being 35miles away to now 15 miles away and it's all country roads. so 30 miles a day of country roads. From what people seem to be saying that'd kill the DPF? I just don't want to risk that happening.. :/
  15. Random questions. My current C30 D5 has a Polestar remap. I've been looking to get the DPF deleted (so outside retained but interior knocked out). I've been told that if I get this done the Polestar remap would have to be deleted and I'd need a new remap as the Polestar one works with the DPF. Is this true? Is there no way of keeping the Polestar map? This new map along with the DPF delete is more powerful: (225bhp & 480nm torque) Wouldn't this cause more strain on the car?
  16. Yeh it was rare as proverbial rocking horse shizz! Especially to find one in manual. MPG isn't far off the Fabia tbh. Around town, country road non motorway driving I'm averaging about 40-41mpg (Spirited driving). On the 70mile motorway journey back from the dealer I averaged 58mpg so pretty happy with that out of a 205bhp lump Comparing that to 24mpg I got from my old remapped 200bhp mk2 Seat Ibiza Cupra!
  17. I would've got another Fabia VRS but just didn't want to get the same thing again! Was very tempted by getting an Ibiza Cupra TDI but they were all a bit ragged and modded to hell :/
  18. Yeh I had the letter from the previous owner that noted this from Volvo saying it was a recall thing. According to the history this one's had the sofware update to help prevent it, and a lovely looking sticker put on the engine bay area saying what the recommended level is. Seems a bit of a retarded way of sorting the matter, just hoping that people fill the oil to the right level :/ The Audi is a company car VRSADZ, still got it but only have it occasionally now so needed something permanent.
  19. I'm very tempted to go down this route, as I don't really fancy forking out for a DPF in all honesty!
  20. Was thinking aboutw dpf delete, only worry is some people saying that it won't pass the MOT :/
  21. Cheers all! Yeh handles like a dream, heated seats are a nice added extra not gonna lie Really loving it so far, was looking at the T5 but I drive about 50 - 60 miles round trip to work so wouldn't be ideal :/ Only thing that worries me a tad it has a DPF, only ever heard bad things about these, although apparently Volvo's one is one that never needs to be taken out and serviced...just replaced if it dies? *Fingers crossed*
  22. Cheers buddy, it bring a massive grin when that diesel power kicks in! Hope it's as trouble free as my old Fabia was
  23. Sounds really throaty! Thought it'd had exhaust mods initially but nothing's been done, just a lovely growl. My friends got one and it's exactly the same. Still want to get a Milltek fitted though, they look ace.
