  1. Cheers. I'll see if I can swap them for some spot pads on DW. So, when I've corrected with the g3, can I use the big thick foamy whatsit to seal and/or wax, or is that better done by hand? Do I need to make/buy a polishing bonnet, or are they just for rotaries?
  2. Thanks. Are the other two harsher than g3, or do they have another use altogether? I've got AG SRP and AG HDW on there at the moment. Do I have to remove those first, or will the g3 do it?
  3. My second-hand DAS6 Pro has arrived. Included were black and orange 6" hex pads (no name, but I guess CG since the black one's very soft) and a big thick black foam pad, which I presume is to apply polish. The seller also chucked in the following: Farécla G3 advanced liguid compound CG swirl-spider web-scratch removal (blue bottle) Megs Step 1 JeepCrystal Paint Cleaner So, will any of that be any good for my 3-y-o carwash-battered beige paintwork? (I know they may not comprise the ideal system, but I'm reluctant to just bin these unless I have to.) Thanks for reading. Edit: Oh, and there's one of those yellow backing plates too, with the hole rather than the spindle. I don't think that's much use to me, is it?
  4. Jenolite is good and cheap. Under four quid for a small tube at amazon.
  5. Try as per http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/142636-how-do-i-find-my-superbs-colour-or-colour-code/
  6. Carrs at Indian Queens is one of 4 Skoda dealers approximately equidistant from where I live and, based on reports here, the one I chose to change my cambelt and water pump last week. Like others, I found the whole transaction was carried out with courtesy and efficiency from initial enquiry to handing back the loan car. If I hadn't had to stump up £450, it would have been the perfect day. If I lived closer, I wouldn't hesitate to use them all the time, but I'd certainly go back there for anything my independent wasn't confident of doing.
  7. But the OP has a TDi; wouldn't that be 6-speed?
  8. I expect your wheels are fine - it's just the centre-cap badges that are rubbish. Common problem, I believe. Should be covered under warranty.
  9. So you've just driven your newly detailed pride and joy the length of the country through the mud and salt of an English winter to visit Granny for Christmas. The car is filthy and it'll be a fortnight before you're back home. For whatever reason, you can't wash it yourself. Do you put it through (1) a mechanical wash, (2) a jet wash, (3) let the Kosovans have a go, or (4) just leave it dirty and hope it rains a lot? (I'm guessing (2), but do we know what's coming out of the nozzle?)
  10. Thanks. I was following a couple on eBay that started off fairly cheap, but the bidding on there is mental. I think sometimes the polishers go for virtually they'd cost to buy new. Today, though, I managed to snap up a DAS6 Pro + pads for £60 BuyItNow, so I'm pleased with that.
  11. Oh, OK. I thought you might have found a 'discounts offered' site or forum. I couldn't find this on DW, even on the forum UF sponsors.
  12. Or there's this: http://www.halfords....tegoryId_165671
  13. I've got a slight bit of the same on one window strip, but no warranty. I take it there's no cure? Are these hard/expensive to replace?
  14. Ha, that pic is where I got the number from to place the order in the first place, but they still came back grey. I was hoping maybe the silver ones had a different part number stamped on the inside of them.
  15. Friends reunited. Wayne, I want some silver wheel nut caps caps like yours. I ordered some, but they sent grey. The part numbers should be on the inside of the caps. Could you be kind enough to have a look inside and tell me what they are? Cheers.
  16. If you click the little gear icon next to search (top right) and search for 'postcode' in 'topic titles only' you'll find several threads on this.
  17. Specifically, the Porter Cable 7424 and the Cyclo 6CE dual head. Anyone have experience with/opinions on these?
  18. I was thinking that myself, actually. And with a less powerful motor, there's probably less chance of being too enthusiastic and striking through.
  19. Maybe I should just buy some Scholl 17+ and some elbow grease. Thanks for the tips and the code.
  20. I'm hoping to buy a DAS-6 before too long. (I presume I ought to get the Pro version; I've joined DW for the £20 CleanYourCar discount.) With pads at over £8 a pop, though, the accessories could get expensive. I'm only planning to use the DA on my 3-y-o car-washed Cappuccino Superb, so really it's just for fairly light correction. Ideally I'd like to buy no more than 2 each of 6" and 4" pads, and of a make available at CYC to avoid extra postage. That seems to be Lake Country or CG at the moment, but what colours, and what about the Lake Country foamed wool? (Also, is Scholl S3 an acceptable substitute for 17+, since CYC have no small 17+ in stock either.) Thanks
  21. From the manual: Storing exterior mirror setting for reversing – Switch on the ignition. – Turn the exterior mirror control to position R [but L for UK, of course]. – Engage reverse gear. – Move the right exterior mirror into the desired position. – Take the vehicle out of gear. The set position of the exterior mirror is stored. (It's under 'Seats and Stowage', after drivers' seat adjustment.)
  22. Yes, that's it. Doesn't sound as though it will take me too long to use it up and get something better, then.
