  1. Make sure you FAT or FAT 32 format the SD card before putting anything on it. (right click on it from Windows explorer on you PC and select format). I got caught out by this.
  2. Also saw a sleak looking black Skoda Superb combi with cycling team Rapha Condor. This was during the recent tour series event in Colchester last month. Took a photo but lost it. Skoda trying to associate themselves quite closely with cycling. Great idea if you are targeting the 'thinking man'.
  3. Thanks everyone, Littleade, do you know if the treatments you recommend sort of replicate what they would do as part of the dealer's £300 treatment? I've costed what you say at about £50, which seems reasonable if it gives me as good as the dealer (if you see what I mean).
  4. Car is 3 weeks old now and I am starting to realize the leather is unprotected. I didn't go for the £300 body/interior care package offered by the dealer as it was such a hard sell, and thought it wouldn't be good vfm. Can anyone recommend a good leather protection kit or product?. I have the black leather elegance. Also, should I get the outside bodywork treated with something beyond wax whilst it is still new? Don't mind paying a professional for either (but baulk at three hundred quid!)
  5. I have Thermisto alloys on my Elegance. I would be interested to permanently trade for 16 inch 'sensibles' if they saved 10% fuel and were much cheaper to maintain in the future (without hitting looks too much) So a couple of questions, have other people found 16inch sensible, winter type wheels and tyres give much better fuel economy? - if so how much? What is the going rate for a set of barely used Thermisto alloys (<1000 miles) + tyres? Superb is a lovely car, anything that helps running costs would improve the car even more for me!
  6. No thread hijacking please. Skoda dealer fixed the lighter socket issue, was a fuse as suggested by Huw. Car only 2 weeks old so they didn't quibble about cost!
  7. It's max 32gb SDHC card is it not? Will try that trick, thanks Napier.
  8. Taking the car in tomorrow to get the lighter sockets sorted. I would no more trust myself in a car fuse box than a bull in the proverbial china shop.
  9. BrockySuperb, interesting what you say about the fuel consumption for diesel. I have a 1.8 TSi petrol. I hope that is the general experience with petrol as well as diesel, fuel consumption improving after the first few thousand miles. Anyone?
  10. Cheers leepatrick01, you're a star, that's fixed it. I now have music on the HDD which sounds better quality than the bluetooth (in my imagination at least). Had a bit of a RTFM half hour. Figured out point 6, AUX switched on through the settings. Haven't tested with phone yet but think that should be it. Feel a bit happier now Huw, thanks for the feedback, I am a car luddite, how would I know which fuse is the problem (or is this another case of RTFM ). Will fiddle with tone a little more to see if I can get more improvement. Bass already high.
  11. New superb is doing fine 13 days on from purchase, loving the drive and comfort. As expected Skoda snobs are having their heads turned. I have lept from a 13 year old Toyota to a brand new Elegance and the learning curve is fairly steep. There are a few teething questions I have, if anyone can help. I would go to the dealer but I already think I know more than them, I only read human so the manual is not much help (it would be nice if it contained not just the how but the what and why e.g. what is it and why should I spend time configuring it - Skoda, if you read this, some sort of outline guide for the car's functionality would really help here) Cigarette lighter sockets don't charge my phone, boot 12V supply works fine. Do you need the smoker kit for get these to work or is something mis-wired? Blue tooth works fine most of the time, though if I switch between spotify and mp3s occasionally it loses itself. Had it where the track cuts out after about 5 seconds, press play again and this repeats. Sometimes it dosn't pick up Spotify at all + no track listing (I guess the latter is to do with the file format). Should I be able to list artists/albums as well as tracks through bluetooth, or do I need MDI connectivity for that? 4GB SDHC containing MP3s not recognised by columbus - is there a minimum size card? Stereo a little tinny, any tips for getting the best out of it? - I have tweaked the tone settings. How is AUX supposed to work? connected up phone via 3.5mm port on drivers arm rest compartment and AUX not detected on columbus, e.g. option disabled. Petrol consumption about 350 miles to warning light in mixed driving. Does that seem about right? Do new cars take a while to wear in and become their most efficient? I am driving very steadily. Thanks for any help on these.
  12. 128 : June 2013 Superb Combi Elegance 1.8TSi DSG, Metallic Grey. A real beauty
  13. Picked up mine, yesterday. A lot to get my head around, but loving the exploration. Car is all I expected it be, really smooth and a head turner.
  14. Some excellent pointer there, will take them all along tomorrow. Safari, how do I check the initial values for breaks/suspension?
  15. What are the most common delivery faults (if any) on a Superb that are worth checking before signing the dotted line? I am picking up my Brand new Superb Estate Elegance 1.8TSi DSG on Monday afternoon and would like to pick people's brains beforehand so I can go in armed. From all I am hearing on this site Skoda have excellent quality control, but it would still be good to know if there are consistent niggles to save myself time and grief later.
  16. Just signed all the relevant paperwork. Picking up my new machine on Monday afternoon. Only 96 hours 56 mins (and counting) to go.
  17. 0(ish) miles, as I haven't got it yet. Hopefully this week... Will be interesting to track mileage from now. I have been 10K per year for the last 10 years in my old Toyota, will my new superb make me drive further? Only time will tell, but if my family take to it as much as I think they will we will certainly cover more distance.
  18. That should have read... Thanks Terry, you got ME a little more excited. Loving the thought of the DSG, only tested the manual (which was also a dream to drive) Still sounds a bit dodgy though.
  19. Thanks Terry, you got a little more excited. Loving the thought of the DSG, only tested the manual (which was also a dream to drive) Putting together a list of things to check over when I get the car. Anyone got any recommendations? What are the moat common features not to work on a new car, or is the Skoda PDI pretty thorough?
  20. Just got the nod from the dealer, car ready late next week (7 June) or early the week after. Pretty much spot on 3 months
  21. That's great news Pauldubs. I see you ordered in Early April, that's a quick turnaround. Just out of curiosity, who was the dealer and when was the actual build complete date? Interesting to see how quickly it has reached you from the factory. I ordered beginning of March, build completion 21st May (unconfirmed), as for collection - not heard yet. Dealer - Underwoods Colchester Wonder if it would be worth collating all this information to see where/if there are any bottlenecks.
  22. Wow, MLJ that's great news!! There is a small chance mine was on the same boat as yours...
  23. Just got the shout from the dealer, car build completed early next week (20th may) and delivery 2-3 weeks later. I could be seeing my new car before the end of May. Pretty much on schedule then.
