  1. Totally agree with "nothing wrong with wheel trims" statement. I quite like being the minority now as many cars now have alloys as standard. It gives me some stealth before unleashing all 59 horses. Going back to the wheel centers, I think it's a case of water/salt getting under the laquer and reacting with the silver emblem. My family member with the VW Touran did find some replacements that didn't have the shiny finish and have lasted 2 years now without issue. I'm not sure if there are different Skoda ones available but think a popular online auction site seems to be the place of choice to buy more.
  2. This is a common problem across a few marques of the VAG group. Family members VW touran did same thing, my 2013 Skoda Octavia did it as well. My Fabia is fine though, but that'll be because I have wheel trims and not alloys! (I know, wheel trims as standard In this day and age!)
  3. So fitted the arm rest. It's not to bad to do, worst parts was getting the bracket under the centre console behind handbrake. The other pain is getting the two part cover to line up. I used a very long magnetic tipped screwdriver to put the four securing bolts in, that worked a treat. So I've driven the car with the armrest installed and definitely the right decision for me, feels much more comfortable.
  4. Going to tackle this job after picking an armrest up from local dealer for a good price. I really miss not having an armrest and tried a showroom car that had one and liked it. It will be nice to have another cubbyhole to stick bits and bobs as the cavernous glovebox means smaller items end up rattling around at the back!
  5. Well done on the purchase! The Fabia is a very good car, and you will love it more as time passes I'm sure! A great colour combination as well!
  6. I think a packet of crisps is better than the Holden Commodore
  7. 5 stars is good but it's never comfortable to watch!
  8. My intention for the Fabia was to keep it until the end of the PCP but beginning to really like this car now, getting used to its quirks and personality, even the wife can't help but like it. I have a while to go before I'm handing it back but new tax laws in April 2017 will mean a jump from my current £20 to £140 if I buy a new Fabia, so may be one good reason to keep it a little bit longer if it stays reliable.
  9. Yep, that's it, wasn't very expensive either and fits well in the tray.
  10. I keep mine in the left hand side tray in boot. It fits quite well.
  11. As requested, some pictures. Yes the color of plastic is not the same!, but it's more about functionality then looks, (plus I couldn't be bothered to drive back to dealer over £8 of plastic). The mat is genuine Skoda and boot nets are actually from a 2013 Octavia I owned and I ticked the boot net program option when I ordered it. They accidentally didn't stay in the boot when I sold the Octavia. Oops, silly me . As I've already said, I've not had an problems with it interfering with mat and as pictures show there is enough room for a boot net in between it and the mat!
  12. I've the official Skoda boot mat and the divider/organizer and have no issue with either interfering with each other? The organizer clicks into place with the hooks and rests above the rubber boot mat. To access spare wheel it would need to unclipped, but it's not a huge issue. I regularly use it to keep bottles upright like milk when shopping etc. I paid under £10 including Vat for it. I believe they come in different shades of plastic to match boot plastic. I like it personally.
  13. I wanted a cheap runabout car as my Fabia 1.0 s is my 2nd second car. I ideally wanted a Polo but my budget would not stretch to newer models so knocked on Skoda's door. Its basic but I don't at any point feel like I'm missing anything, other than perhaps an arm rest but can add that myself later. I'm only in early days of ownership and have got a few small problems but the dealer is on the case and they are being sorted. (Squealing rear brake, split door seal, smelly a/c and smelly screen wash). At this point I would definitely buy another as a 2nd car.
  14. Hi, if you look under the dash on fusebox/steering column side there is a metal bracket that supports the heater box, various trims are screwed into it on the lower dash, I unscrewed a screw (torx 20) and put a ring terminal inbetween screw and spire clip (threaded clip), this satisfactory earthed my dash cam. I believe the metal frame is part of dashboard supporting structure and is bolted to chassis. Obviously I'm going on about my own 1.0 s Fabia so there may be some variations, hopefully it points you in the right direction.
  15. Welcome! If it was me and from experience if something doesn't feel right then it's best to get it looked at, just in case damage is being done or there is a problem. It will take time for the transmission to run in but usually it's not something that is hugely noticeable. At least by having it looked at and logged it will be a foundation of proof should it become a problem later into ownership. I don't have the 6 speed transmission but have owned many new cars and driven many new cars from being on the workshop floor as a motor vehicle technician. Good to hear your enjoying the rest of the car though!!
  16. I'm just over a week into ownership of a used Fabia S and it's pretty good. I've only a few small rattles on very poor road service but that's about it and to be fair my last car (£40k worth of Merc) had rattles from various places over similar surfaces, it feels quite well built. The rear doors sound a bit tinny when closed. About it.
  17. Yes they are easy to fit, alignment is key, so a test fit is advisable before pulling the tape! Also the weather needs to be warmer as -4 isn't exactly advisable. The instructions say 18c+, so it's a heated workshop/garage or wait until summer. I recently bought all my bits and bobs off of superskoda, arrived quickly and without any problems.
  18. Easier to get panels for it at a breakers. "what color wing is it?" "Any color you like!!"
  19. Thanks, yes liking the simplicity of it all. The wife has driven it without no input from me. No sea of buttons to confuse the hell out of her. Even my kids like it, I think because they sit quite high above the window line and get a good view out. I'm already achieving 50+ mpg by adjusting my driving style to a relaxed get there eventually attitude. I would usually do online food shopping, but for the first time in years went food shopping by car as the Fabia doesn't sit in a supermarket car park and rub people up the wrong way. The boot is surprisingly roomy and it gobbled up a weeks worth of shopping with ease. I've fitted the dash cam over the weekend, altered the power socket to ignition live, fitted front and rear mudflaps, new headlamp/sidelight bulbs, boot mat, boot nets, boot divider, touched in a few tiny stone chips with a touch up stick and sprayed some spare supagard upholstery protector on the seat backs and new textile mats. Just a rear bumper/boot protector and door sill protectors to fit when warmer weather arrives!
  20. Hi all! Yay! I'm back with a Skoda after a 2 year break away. I had a 2013 Octavia which I sold for a new (at the time) 2015 Mercedes C class C250 AMG line premium plus. The Mercedes went late last year after a huge falling out with my dealer and I've been car less for 4 months (by choice). The wife is going to have a new Golf later this year so I decided to buy myself the "cheaper" run around. (A swap around to how we normally do things) I knew exactly where to go for good value. Skoda! I'm now a proud owner of a used 2015 Fabia 1.0 60 S in race blue. I love it. Obviously plenty may think I've gone mad to of gone from a C class to a fabia (raised a few Neighbour's eyebrows and twitched a few curtains), I know I've done the right thing for me though. I only need a small car for local runs and the Fabia is perfect, nippy enough, plenty of room and being an S model, less to go wrong! I'll be able to use wife's Golf on longer runs if need be. Trying to get used to people being nicer to me on the road, they used to see that Mercedes badge and that was it, never allowed out at junctions etc, lol. I got a great deal at my local Skoda dealer and squeezed the maximum out of the deal. Only problem I've found so far is a door seal with a tiny split in it causing wind noise and the washer fluid has gone off and stinks. Minor issues to resolve. So good to be back. I've missed you Skoda.
  21. If you have doubts then walk away, plenty more used Octavia's out there. If it was me, I'd be put off by vehicle having paint work repaired as how do you know it has been done to Skoda's standards? Also the seller appears to not of done any pre sale safety checks to insure vehicle is safe for road tests, other wise they surely would of noticed low coolant level and acted on it.
  22. Well I hope your Skoda dealer doesn't damage your Octavia, lie to you on many occasions and then not carry out the work properly, as mine did during the first service. Good luck with the Octavia, and good luck with your dealer :-) I hope the OP finds happiness in Audi.
  23. I have to agree with what you have said, the engine note doesn't suit the car at all. It's a good engine but I've driven plenty of diesels which are more refined. I can't knock the power though, twin turbo so it's aplenty on tap. Octavia engine was quieter but mine was petrol so not fair comparison I suppose. I haven't got the time for merc to bring out a quiet diesel, so I live with as plenty of positives over the negatives!
  24. I had to laugh at this, that's why we are all individuals, the world would be very grey if we all liked the same thing. I went from a very good early 2013 Octavia (yes they did make one) which never gave me any problems. The let down was the truly appalling dealer network around me. I promised myself a c class when I finished treatment for cancer, regardless of the outcome, it was my goal to aim for. So when the day came I went to the Mercedes dealer and purchased that goal. Do I have any regrets? A couple, the first being I'm seen as a snob where I live as most don't know my reasons for purchase. The second being the Octavia itself, mine was very good, none of the common problems we read about on here, perhaps I was lucky. The Octavia 3 is a very good car. I don't miss the dealers at all though. Yes, the Jag XE was on my list, it is a striking car but it's all new, and that scared me slightly, plus I'm just a little to young to be driving a jag yet. In less than 3 years time I will walk away from the Mercedes and buy something different, I doubt it will be a prestige mark again, I'm going to enjoy the now, with that lovely interior that I will not be intentionally puking over ;-)
  25. I take it you like a hot curry then..... ;-)
