  1. Hi. Went a family run today and managed what I think are good mpg figures for a tfsi. On the way there On the way back This was a good spirited run but not going daft because of the kids.
  2. Grill is looking good. What paint are you using? Is it just aerosol cans?
  3. Snap. Forgot about the steel brake pipe. Had to do that too.
  4. I had the same problems as you. Terrible fuel economy. Hot drivers side rear wheel. Car would struggle to free wheel. Felt the car dipping down at the rear when pulling away. I removed the caliper and had a look. Found the dust seal torn to shreds and the piston knackered. I shopped about but ended up buying a new rear caliper from skoda. Has been fine since replacing it. It was a rad expensive. I replaced the rear discs and pads at the same time.
  5. I've just replaced my 06 vrs rear discs and they were 286mm.
  6. Hi. Had my car in the workshop today for some maintenance. Rear brake discs, pads and a new OSR brake caliper. Caliper carrier bolts an absolute nightmare. Had to heat them right up. Got them done. Went to replace the caliper and the small steel brake line from the flexi to the caliper twisted and sheared. Can anybody give me a part number for this? Couldn't source one on a Saturday afternoon. Had to abandon the brakes and serviced the engine in preparation for a remap.
  7. Thanks John. I hoped so. Didn't want to go down the road of having to match a paint colour and paint it.
  8. Hi. This might sound like a daft question. I need a new rear brake caliper for my 2006 octavia vrs 2.0 TFSI. The calipers that are on the car are green with a solid disc. If I order a caliper from TPS or euro car parts will it come green? I've been on euro car parts website and there are a couple of choices. Pagid or TRW with different piston diameters. Any idea what size piston will be in mine? Might need to strip it down and measure it. Thanks in advance.
  9. Popped into my local dealer and explained my problem. I was met by a sharp intake of breath and a shake of the head with a response of " we will probably have to take out your seats and carpets and find the broken or corroded wire". Ehhh. Ok. Don't think I will bother booking it in there for diagnostics.
  10. Sorry. Should have said. Replaced both key fob batteries. It's just strange that its only the unlock part that has stopped working.
  11. Hi all. I'm looking for a bit of help with a central locking problem. Yesterday and always the car has locked and unlocked with the remote fob. Wife took the car out today and came back saying it wouldn't unlock with the fob. Had to use the door lock. I have searched the forum and manual and tried the recommended process. No joy. The car will lock, remote boot opening and remote window closure. All working fine but will not unlock. Tried the spare key. Same fault. Does anyone have any thoughts what it could be and any tips on anything else to try? (Wife now banned from driving the car)
  12. Thanks svend. It gets worse. They also have a red Ibiza bocanegra. So it's a 4 car shuffle at times.
  13. Thought I would put up some fresh pictures of my car with its newly tinted windows courtesy of my wife. Also gave it a bit of a clean. Tints are 20% on the rears only.
  14. "Nippy skin" when the acid based cleaners get into the wee cuts and scrapes on your hands.
  15. Well I managed to put the the kit to the test. Bilt Hamber worked well. Good foam coverage and did cling to the car but not for as long as I hoped. I tried a friends valet pro ph neutral snow foam and could not get it to foam or cling at all. Bilberry was a dream to use. Beats any acid based cleaner hands down. No more nippy skin. Plus the fact it can be diluted is also bonus. Compared to the price of some other brands it is a good buy IMO.
  16. Hi all. Just bought some new kit for cleaning the car. Got some Bilt Hamber snow foam, bilberry wheel cleaner and some chemical guys air freshener. Just have to wait on it being delivered then get out and put it to the test. Any reviews on the Bilt Hamber?

  18. What do you use on them? I also noticed that it didn't take too kindly to the rear of the dashboard. The bit closest to the windscreen is a different texture to the front.
  19. Thanks. Got some AG stuff today on 3 for 2 to continue. Don't rate the interior and vinyl cleaner at all. Went everywhere and left a lot of residue. I will just use that on the Toyota :-).
  20. Hi all. Woke up this morning to a rare sunny day so got out the hose to give my new vRS a wash. Here is a couple of pics. Only managed a rinse, snow foam, rinse, TBM wash, rinse then a wheel clean. Gave the big car a wash to so it didn't look too bad against mine.
  21. Thanks. I'm in north Lanarkshire. What about you?
  22. Here is a pic from when got the car and one from today at work when I was replacing the headlight bulbs. Hope this works.
  23. For some reason the mpg display would only show the readings when they were good. Whenever I leaned on the throttle the display would go off. I have no idea why it's doing that (innocent face). Had to hide the truer mpg figures from the mrs. I will get some pictures up when I figure out how to upload on the forum. Thanks.
  24. Thanks. Just had the car out for a run to Livingston with the family and reached 42 mpg. I was really impressed with that. That was me taking it relatively easy. ????.
  25. Hello all. I am a newbie to Skoda and a newbie to this forum. I picked up my 2006 Skoda Octavia 2.0tfsi vrs in race blue yesterday. I am extremely happy with it. I scoured this forum before purchasing and found some amazing info and detail which made my decision an easy one. Thanks for reading
