  1. i knew about the absence of a spare wheel before i bought my Fabia. but, since driving, it would leave me with an increased sense of security to have a spare wheel just incase (especially as we use it to cart the kids around). so, i gots to thinking, are there any other wheels that are compatible from other less popular cars that might turn up a cheaper spare wheel on ebay or the likes? also, in terms of jacks, would a bottle jack be a sensible choice? or the classic scissor jack? what has anyone done to help solve this issue other than pay the wedge required for a skinny wheel kit?
  2. this could solve the very same niggling problem i have at the mo since buying my Fabia (2010 HTP) i'm going to try this out. thanks very much for getitng involved as much as you did and sharing the info on here! I have the same issue with the dealership being a good 40min drive away and working all week and have 2 kids, so organising time at the service station would be a right PITA! so glad i browsed this section today love forums like these :) will come back to thank you if it solves the problem! :p
  3. i didnt get the car on any finance. not sure if the offer is still running - i think it goes back up to full price soon for the package. its just had its first MOT and the brake fluid chamnged at 20K i think. may give the dealrship a call and get some more details about it.
  4. recently bought a fabia and the dealership offered a service deal - 3 services and an MOT for around £350 (at any local VAG authorised centre i think) Not sure of the details but has anyone said yes to these kinds of deals? any feedback about them?
  5. thanks for the advice/recommendations - i know what you mean about the door edge protectors - i've seen bonnet protectors produce a similar effect (and they also look stupid too). definitley getting sill protectors for that very same reason! our last car wore through to the factory's primer coat eventually! :/ but that was due in part to the door striking the door frame..... :p boot protector is also a must as our buggy is damn heavy and the mrs isnt the most patient when shoving it in the back....makes me slightly regret not getting the fabia estate...... the parcel shelf has already broken at one of the fixings on the trim panel, so the parcel shelf doesnt actually rest properly. meh.
  6. Hi folks, i recently purchased a 2010 Fabia Hatchback. i've got myself some rubber floor mats for the purposes of protecting the interior carpet - handy for catching water too, but, i was wondering what else i could invest in to help keep the cars interior and exterior form prematurely ageing from general use. so far on my list are the following: - door handle scratch protectors (like helicopter tape) - door sil protectors (going for Fabias own spec) - bumper protector (boot is used a lot for buggys/kids bikes) - boot liner - again, rubber for durability and any liquid spills what do people use for the door edge protection? (from pranging walls/pillars/other cars) getting children out the car means this is not always avoidable (despite the grumbles i've seen on this forum already about little dings from people being careless). i've seen the black or chrome strips you can get, however, i prefer the understaded/stealthy approach, to stop the car looking like the proverbial 'orthopeadic shoe' :p so, what other tips or kits do people use that prove handy in kitting the car up to deal with family life and general wear and tear...???
  7. Hi all, recently purchased a 2010 Fabia hatchback. love it - however, the parcel shelf has broken on the passenger side (nearside) mount. i'm not talking about the shelf hinge - i'm talking about the plastic moulded part that the shelf actually rests on. it seems this part is a moulded part of the boot trim panel - so its not a case of getting a separte component which is very annoying. not sure how it broke, buts its broke, and i want to fix it. it seems the panel is quite large: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35c751654e and its the little plastic part protruding from the top of the trim panel thats split. any more load on it and it'll shear off completely sooner or later. will an epoxy resin sort this out? or am i going to have to make some sort of bracket to make it stronger? i thought of making a plastic sheet screwed to the trim panel (to help spread the load/stress) with a bit of studding pushed through with bolts doubled up on one side that are the same diamter as the original hinge rest.....(locking nuts so they dont work loose and rounded off so the shelf can pivot smoothly) could be overkill though. we use the boot alot and i think the mrs is less than considerate when closing the boot/checking the parcel shelf is located correctly and isnt going to interfere with the boot door.....
