Rear door locks sticking
ExAudiSi replied to winchesterstoke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
The drivers rear lock on my old Octy used to stick from time to time. I soaked it with WD40 from the outside and it kept working for another couple of years until I sold it. I did buy a new lock mechanism, but never needed to fit it. If yours works intermittently, get it lubricated now before it sticks in the locked position and won't open. -
Yes, I believe that they did get maxidot with satnav.

Convenience (one-touch) Indicators
ExAudiSi replied to Phil-W's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I fitted a kit on mine when I had it as SWMBO's Fabia had them as standard. They must have gone up a lot since I bought mine as I am sure that I paid less than £30. To answer your question, yes, they do work -

HELP - bumper not fitting correctly!
ExAudiSi replied to BobIzYaUncle's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I'm sure that there is supposed to be a guide that the side clips into all of those slots on the top edge of the bumper, or at least is that bolt, that is visible in the first photo, supposed to be on the outside holding the bumper in place. -

Yes, my Elegance had a sun roof. Just remove the grab handle and fit the sunglasses holder in its place.

Probably would fit a Fabia, but you will need a facia plate as the front is not as big as the Fabia one. -

Still got the sunglasses holder for the Octavia available.

It might have done, but most of the replies have been from people telling me that the key fob cannot be re-coded even though it can.

Still for sale. -
Its not the immobiliser part that I was selling, that's just attached in the photo. The advert is for the 3 button fob, hence the title, which is easily programmed without VagCom or any other tools.

I have a pair of rear spring assisters (helper springs) for use when towing or I suppose if you regularly carry heavy loads in the boot of your Octavia. Removed them when I first got the car, so they've been sitting in the garage for the last 4 years. They fit inside the standard rear springs and have their own little adjustable perches. Looking for £20 delivered.

Tdi elegance on vrs suspension.
ExAudiSi replied to Robin1600's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I fitted vRS springs with factory sports spec. Bilstein shocks alround on my Elegance TDI. I thought gave a good compromise on ride and handling for the price, despite what everyone else says. I ran mine like that for around 3 years until I sold the car. If you go down that route, remember to fit vRS bump stops too as they are shorter than the standard ones and will probably affect ride comfort. -
Why you shouldn't buy plastic drop links
ExAudiSi replied to yesiamtom's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
One of mine did that but only when I was being lazy and tried to lift both wheels on one side of the car at the same time. The original equipment ones were plastic and the replacement, which was still on the car when I sold it, was also plastic. -

Reduced. -

Funny that because I reprogrammed it from a Fabia vRS to an Octavia Who ever told you that is wrong. The remote can be re-programmed with no problem and without VagCom. You can just attach the bottom half of your old key with the blade and immobiliser chip to this one.
