  1. Same as on that one. I have never been a fan of anything automatic..... I wouldn't be able to say if I am honest. Like i said mine is a 2010 model and had an engine change with a newer 2012 model.... The car itself is a good piece of kit but sadly was one of the few, and i mean a few, that had the duff cam chain tensioner.. Now there is a thread which details alot about engine failures on those particular model of engine... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/266114-octavia-ii-tsi-engine-failures/ At the end of the day you run the risk of belt / tensioner failing on any vehicle no matter who makes them and optional extra i would go for is parking sensors, heated seats and many more....
  2. Its an archaic speed limit and even "some" government officials have said this....but then the HSE band wagon starts to begin and environmentalists follow suit telling us that the world will be doomed if we raise it above 70mph. The US i think were using the 50mph speed limit and changed there's in some places, now, to 80mph. Most of Europe is 80 or above......Germany, a environmentally friendly and safe culture, have sections, and alot of them, that have no restrictions in place. Like everything else, we are behind...
  3. I think this country has a sick obsession with speed camera's if I'm honest. I've travelled plenty of times abroad and not once seems the obsessive amount of camera's we have over here. They use things called police forces and highway patrol. I will say also the points and banning system here is flawed to the tea as well.....but then Britain has always had to be different..... Lynx = Axa, Sure = Rexona, Walkers = Lays
  4. Driving trip abroad......woop woop....normally try for 2 weeks. This is unpaid for me as am a contractor...
  5. Im a bit of a geek so will have to add this....
  6. A colleague of mine, who is 6 ft 3, went to toyko many years back and said whilst he was walking down the street it seemed like a whole different world..... Im short so would fit in very well .....
  7. Remember encryption was written by a coder and another coder and another coder and so on, but can all be breached, far harder than normal, and will be breached by someone determined enough. A very imprecise statement as its the inexperienced user that clicks on the random popup generated on there screens that get the malware, trojan, virus and so on. Servers are mainly accessed by infrastructure admins who limit there access to servers by securing them down in the correct manor. Most systems that get breached are down to the fact they either hold sensitive information or about as secure as someone leaving there front door open. When you access a website you are accepting there terms and conditions of usage and they are the owners, they have the right to change the way we access there website regardless if you like it or not. At the end of the day there are plenty other option you could use.
  8. `Very good car. I don't have the DSG box nor the maxidot but will say I am impressed with what I have. Its a 2010 estate but with a 2012 engine in it, likely revised cam chain tensioner, so previous owner was victim to engine destruction. Likely with a 2009 model you may end up with a TSI not TFSI, but the i am only assuming this.... Either way this car and model is really good. I am a petrol head and will not go back to a diesel for a while....
  9. I thought the japs were like that as well. Thank god im hung like a badger then and as tall as a pony ....
