  1. Super mate good for you,I was looking at Audi a3's earlier this week I wanted the full works 2.0 tdi dsg s line Quattro, found a smart silver one showed it to dad and he hit the nail on the head, he said yeah you could get that and be part of the millions of other Audi a3's you see that arnt anything special or you could keep/appreciate yours and be damned if yoi ever see another on the road! I get people asking if I'm selling it which also helps the pride, but as you say, TLC gives you all the pride of owning these sortafter little cars!
  2. This is great I'm very happy for you, your very lucky that those people who found it had the sence to figure it out. It may have been said but I'm curious, did they steal your keys from the house then?
  3. Oh the irony! As rubbish as it must be, like you say, might be driving round in an Octavia instead, feel for you though mate. :/
  4. Does ocd help though? Because mine just means that I get annoyed frequently and am forced to spend time and effort correcting it hahaa! But I see where your coming from, it does mean that the car becomes close to immaculate! I've have the glove box off before to cure a vibration noise by wedging a sponge on the component after lightly banging every thing until I found it, I'm going to take it off again and try this tightening job though, this is a perfect example of what I was thinking when I made the thread.
  5. I have a noise as I mentioned in my very first comment, I've never adjusted the headrests though I'm going to take them off today and see if it's them!
  6. I have no idea what this topic is but sounds cool
  7. Haha really? Looks something like what I'd find in the bath room! Would be great to see it though, certainly unique!
  8. Good idea regarding the cup holders I needed an extra one the other day! Had to use the mk1 lap in the end! Will look into this, any pics? Pics are good people everyone loves a good nosy!
  9. Just thought of some other things, I have enabled (thanks to a fellow vrs owner local to me) the anti hi-jack feature where the doors auto lock at 10mph and then unlock when the key is taken out. It does the beep beep on lock/unlock which isn't for everyone but I like it at the minute and the one touch opens all doors rather than double clicking the key fob. Only draw back is that I can't 'accidently' trap the girlfriend out in the rain when getting in the car :/ that was always fun.. :p LED sidelights/reg lights are a cool addition too. As with the ice white (blue in bulb colour) dipped and full beam headlights which when off reflect a bit of blue in the light unit to match the colour of the car
  10. Ahh yes! I've got the same aux out lead from the connex to as well, goes through the glove box through a little opening that seems like they knew people would do it! Which also reminds me.. I have one of those dash magnets that stick to the dash and hold your phone/iphone, BRILLIANT feature always use it, I stuck it over one on the blank switchs and it's great for when I use my phone satnav or want to scroll through my music! Great posts guys!
  11. To make is more symmetrical then? And of course safer when its foggy, cool like it
  12. I hope this thread will become packed with lots of ideas, tips, advice and guidance to help everyone enjoy their cars a little more! Post your improvements/innovations that you've made so others can set to work on making their cars that little bit better! Try to keep your ideas to ones that are not too costly, some of the best things we can do to our cars might just involve 'DIY' using basic tools from the garage! Post the little additions that benefit you each time you drive, look at, or even listen to your car! Maybe even ways to save fuel?! It might be maintenance related for those who are mechanically minded you could give useful tips and explanation on how to do things? It might be subtle aesthetic changes you've made.. I'll start off.. Tightening the hand brake cable. We always use our handbrake, multiple times each journey, so to improve the feel and bring it back to being like a new car, I tightened my hand break cable using a 10mm spanner to tighten the nut and decreasing the travel of the hand break lever. The nut is located beneath the rear ash tray which comes off with no effort at all when lifted, turning the nut clockwise a couple of turns was all that was needed, an improve that is noticeable on ever journey. Colour coding. I decided to colour code the chrome grill on the front of my car. Those leather seats! I don't know about others with leather seats but the rear seats rub against the rear speak panel and make an annoying friction rattle type noise when travelling over a rough road surface. I'd be interested to know if anyone has this issue and how you resolved it? I've taken a piece of sound deadening mat and a sponge cut to size and wedged it between the top corners of the seats and the plastic panel with the rear speakers in them, which has reduced the noise but there's still friction noise coming from them somewhere! Light bulbs. I've replaced my front indicator bulbs with chrome ones which means there is now no amber reflection which I think makes the front look much better. New style badges. I'm yet to fit them but I've order some from Skoda, £28 for the pair so I'll be fitting them this weekend hopefully, should give the car a bit more of a modern, clean look Go on guys lets see what you've got, I'd be really interested to see what little things you've come up with that make the car much nicer to be in when driving around. Cheers, Cameron
  13. I came to the darkside from the older brother side of the forum to see why the mk2 seemed inexpensive second hand despite the majority having very low mileage, I think this had a lot to do with it.. I test drove one a few weeks ago though and it's a fun car, the selling point to me would be the dsg, which I absolutely love, so jealous of mums Audi TT 2.0t Dsg s line Quattro!
  14. Just phoned up Denis Horton Skoda Lincoln to order two of the 2014 shape Skoda badges for the vRS SE and they actually recognised my voice! Made me chuckle
  15. Good luck with it, someone will be getting a nice little bargin! Paid £6700 for mine less than a year ago! And mine doesn't have Porsche twists :/
  16. You will absolutely love driving your car away I can still remember the first start up with it freshly fitted, chchchboooahhrumm
  17. Mines in the same position as the white and red one, I found it didn't fit under the bonnet with the bottom of the air box in on mine... Good mod though. Pleased with mine, compliments the mufflerectomy!
  18. I'm going to try a few tanks on shell v power now after reading this. Will have to wait a few weeks though because its got a full tank of Esso in it at the minute! In my experience ASDA fuel is absolutely awful, it doesn't last very long at all and god does the car let you know its not happy you've given it ASDA fuel to drink, sounds pretty rough. Esso fuel however, I think seems to be the best alternative to vpower and the likes, but that's just my experience, it seems to last a long time. Haven't used normal shell diesel though because if every I'm in a shell garage its STANDARD surely to get the good stuff! Ran mine on a rolling road last year prior to a mufflerectomy and it was running shell vpower and all the other diesels had the smoke extractor strapped to them and I asked that mine didn't and so mine was sat there unmolested like the petrol cars and all I could hear from people including the dyno guys was "I cant believe its a diesel" because no smoke came out!
  19. FYI - I've had a subwoofer fitted to my standard head unit, no need to chance the head unit
  20. I've just replaced my standard wiper with the polo one, thanks very much to andy2407 who put a thread together, the thread can be found here, which made it nice and easy to see how to go about it. Has anyone found that the blade presses to hard against the glass? mine presses against the surface of the window far to hard directly in the middle of the blade forcing it to bend the blade and therefore not clear the window correctly, also its very noisy on each change of direction (after completing each wipe) as the blade rolls over and is dragged the other way, I would really appreciate anybody with a solution to help me out?
