  1. I think you will find that the car above is a very good 3D model.  And thus the Firestone tyres are just whatever they had to model with in their software.  For proof go and look at the lenses of the middle rear brake light and the lower red lights in the rear bumper.  The rear Park Assist eye also looks a bit suspect.  I might be wrong, but to me these elements look computer generated. Not impossible since I suspect they don't have any Yetis built yet, to a finished FL spec, to take good photos of...  And when they do there will be only a few to go to the Frankfurt show.

Yep I agree with it being computer model. Its probably why the shadow of the rear left column didnt fit to my eyes.

  2. Ummm here is a newbie question (that might have been already answered so apologies in advance if it has and havent found it on my search)

I was thinking 205/55 R17 tyre size. What positive or negative effects if any, this size would have in terms of fuel economy, road noise, comfort over road anomalies and overall behavior of the car be it a 4x4 or 4x2 compared to 225/50 R17? Or it just won't fit?

  4.      Just returned from a trip to Treviso ,Milan and Bologna and I cant believe how much amazed I still am by Italian countryside everytime I'm there. Never been in Tuscany yet but its on my plans. Wish you the best for your trip and lots of happy hours behind or not your steering wheel (not that anyone wouldnt be happy driving/"riding" such a diamond for a car  :giggle:

Btw I was left by the impression that the places I visited were anti-Yeti(?) as I only counted 5  and one was Czech so it doesn't count. Mind you, I didnt use autostrada much and rather preferred SS highways instead this time so this could have had a part in my lack of Yeti spotting although one would have thought the exact opposite considering Yeti's nature :)

  5. Without having any knowledge on what you'd need regarding the parts to retrofit it, I can tell you that at the moment here in Greece if you go to order a new car and want an Amunsden fitted from factory you have to add 750 Euros while it would be 2290 Euros for a Columbus. That would be 645 GBP (Amunsden) and 1968 GBP (Columbus) respectively. I am not sure if that would be the only thing you might need to add as there is a good chance you gonna need Bolero sound system which in that case would need another 450 Euros ie 387 GBP. Please anyone with more knowledge on the subject correct me if I am wrong regarding what needs to be added.

  6. Cant resist the urge to paraphrase a joke (but all in good will) so here goes...

"And as me and my friend were standing there suddenly he turns his head to me, points me to their direction and says... That one is Mr Yeti, I know him well, the others in red and white, who are they?"  :giggle:

  7. Does this mean it's too late to order our 170 DSG and get an old shape ?

My best guesstimate (always after consulting my crystal ball that is) is they wont stop taking orders for the next 1 or 2 weeks. I'd say till the end of the month tops (and stretched) considering they have to stay on schedule for week 45 change over. Nevertheless as said already, if you are considering buying a Yeti in its current shape and form I'd suggest you hurry up!

Regarding its new design, I am myself one of those who strongly prefer the current one and that's the reason I have already placed my order. On the contrary, browsing through many blogs and sites dealing with the possible changing of the round fog lights I've seen numerous comments about how they didnt like those and would welcome such a change. Of course its a matter of personal taste and preference indeed. Yet I still believe that those round fog lights up front are one of the main characteristics of the Yeti, that give it (her/his) this so out of the ordinary (and beautiful to my eyes) look.

  8. I see. Here in Greece we only have 3 choices (Active, Ambition and Experience) and if you go for say one of the 2 lower specs and start adding things, the metallic color would still be 580 Euros on top of the bill. I am not sure about red if it is considered a metallic color or not price-wise though. I know for sure that white is considered non metallic hence no extra cost but I cant remember about red. But still 1200 pounds is a wee bit high nevertheless.

On another note, you are lucky to have CR170 4x4 with DSG. We dont have that here (yet at least).

  9. As I have my Yeti in order and been in waiting mode for delivery I can tell you for what its worth, that extra metallic color (be it red or any other) here in Greece is 580 Euros extra on the price list. Of course its a different country so some price differences would be expected but this one IMHO is huge!

  10. Wish I could be there with you all, but then again I still don't have my Yeti and gone a holiday trip to Italy-Austria(just passing through this time)-Switzerland. Great time but I have to say that I've seen less than 5 Yetis on the road while in Italy for 7 days (Cortina, Milano, Bologna) and one of those had Chech plates so it doesnt count lol! Luckily someone (from the staff I guess) in Cortina camp where we stayed, had one parked outside everyday :) (Cappuccino Beige with Spitzberg alloys and black fabric interior in case he/she is a member here and reads this). Maybe I was unlucky or the places I've gone were anti-Yeti? :P On the contrary Austria had many of them beautiful beasts rolling around their highways and some less in Swiss (on my way from Austria to Interlaken). Mind you, we chose mostly the scenic route (SS and SP in Italy) rather than autostrada. If the event gets to be annual, hopefully next year when I'll have my lil beasty princess I will try to make it there to you fine people and have a joy at great british country side too :) (OK OK I admit, pubs too ... lol)

  11. I'm now at self catering log cabin in peak district.

In the middle of nowhere (and that's coming from someone who lives on Skye), but very nice/peaceful. Struggling to cope with the heat, its like being in the mediterranean :-)

At least I have wifi and a somewhat dodgy phone signal.

I'm surrounded by cows so its like a home from home except these ones aren't as hairy as the highland 'coos'  :giggle:

Now would it be too much to ask for photos when you get back from there? Me being a city boy all my life I will have to pay my weight in gold for 2 days staying in such places, so I guess photos will have to do, considering present times and circumstances from where I come from  :giggle:

  12.

Ta...  don't forget the traingular things next to the number plate!   :giggle:

And who says the side valances won't be colour coded?

I was already in despair while I was doing the bumper so I had not had the courage to even imagine what the triangle things will look like, let alone picture them as well !! :giggle:

The sides color coded too?!?!? Ohhh no!!!! :giggle:

  13. Just bought my new Atera Strada Sport M2 (for 2 bikes with 3rd optional). I had the Atera Strada DL in mind but was quiet expensive for me so I went with the Sport instead which was at 335 Euros the best buy I could find here in Greece. In due time I will have my first travel with this so I will be able to give you some more info after say 20 days. For the record I am coming from an old (3 years old) Thule rear window fitting rack which while it looked steady it really wasnt after some time and had to make a patent for it to work and keep the bikes safely stable along the way. Not to mention other drivers safety as well of course which is way more important than 2 bikes broken (best case scenario)! I go camping once a year almost every year throughout Europe so something like the above can be considered dangerous (for my milage at least)

  14. This is from an old French brochure which explains the boot sizes nicely with seats in various positions (without and with a spare):

So it is clear how cheeky it is to say the boot is 510 litres...  that shows three seats in the back but with the outer seats in their most forward position to get to 510 litres!!!  Meaning NO-ONE can sit in them (well people with legs anyway - baby seats will be fine) yet you have a big boot.

There is one more method not shown in the French brochure:  To just have your back seats in their most upright (and uncomfortable for passengers) position.  This also adds some extra space to the boot.

Ahhhh now thats way convinient for us when carrying our dogs. It can mean more space for them in the boot hence more confort. Havent got my Yeti yet but it keeps getting better to my eyes every day. Looks like when I finally have it it will be an "our dreams come true" kind of car for us :)
