Is this part easy to fit?
DEANorKERRY replied to DEANorKERRY's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
2 updates : 1. So much easier to remove when that side bolt is removed. And it 16mm 2. All fitted just need to take it for a test drive. the local skoda specialist said it would be a new gearbox. Makes you wonder -

sorry it from a 2004 vrs td. thats a bit worrying, i took it out of a car and didnt undo the 17mm on the side. does it just slot in, do the bolts up attatch the linkages and its good to go? its the fitting im more interested in -
I've managed to get a spare gear selector rod after snapping the thread in mine. Does anyone know how easy it is to fit? It would I be better off letting the garage do it?
-
Thanks for the reply Do you mean weld the the mechanism onto what's left of the threaded bit?
-
once again her fabia wasnt going into gear. i thought no problem ill tighten the nut like ive done before , only this time the threaded part snapped off. the shift rod is around 185 pound. + labour costs 2 garages seem to think it can be drilled and a stud put in another didnt mention puting a stud in and possibly getting a used gearbox is it salvageable ?

wife just rung me to say the car wont start.2004 vrs diesel . all electrics come on .when the key is turned to start the car nothing happens. im not going to be able to look at it until sunday. battery was replaced early to mid lockdown so im sure it not that . could it be anything else?

My wife was driving home today. She tried putting the fabia into 3rd and it just rev like it's in neutral. It also struggles to go onto 1st and reverse. The gear stick wont stay in the selected gear position. Am I right in thinking this i the gear linkage? Is it going to be expensive to sort? It's a 2004 fabia vrs diesel. 192k miles
