How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
Thankyou for your responses. I should have mentioned that my car has fitted Squib 5Q1953549, indicator stalk 5Q1 953 507 B. It appears to be Lin, meaning slave coded through the BCM. Had a look on vcds and couldn't figure out how to get coding off the steering control module, or how to code a new one. VW retrofits seem to think you have to replace both stalks and squib on these. As I mentioned before the only squib (clock spring) assy that seems to have heated wheel connection is 5Q1953549F. 5Q0 won't work as CAN based not Lin.

How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
So I'm still having trouble finding folk that have done this mod to my year car. If anyone has a facelift MK3 Octavia with factory heated steering wheel, a vcds scan to show part number of the clock spring would help. I have purchased a clock spring part number 5Q1953549F, as this is the only one I can find with similar parts number as mine with the heated wheel connection. It was previously fitted to a Skoda Enyaq so really not confident it will be compatible. The kufatec harness seems to connect up fine so far, so pin positions may be the reason they don't recommend using it past mid 2018 cars. Will update once I get a chance to test the clock springs.

How To: Retrofit a heated steering wheel to a mk3 Octavia
Hi, apologies for digging up an old thread, was wondering if anyone knows if there is any wiring change post 25/11/ 2018 FL Octavia's? (My car was manufactured in 2019) Had an issue with kufatec saying their heated wiring loom was not compatible with my car. This made me doubt whether Their wiring harness would work on my car. Has anyone come across this issue before? If so what was your solution? Skoda Octavia mk2 Vrs tdi pd 170
I currently own a ppd170 in a 2007 vrs fully standard with dpf and egr, it's done 158000 and still going with no real issues. I changed duel mass and clutch recently but that's just normal wear and tear. Engine still pulls well, will return 50 to 55 mpg on long hawl, 45 mpg on 30 min drive if you are conservative, 35 mpg if you aren't. I've had no issues with my dpf in since I've owned it for 3 years but it gets driven 60 miles for work. It doesn't sound as refined as a CR but what 4 pot diesel sounds amazing? If you get one for a good price in good nick it should last, but they are more complicated than a CR and more costly if they go wrong. If I had a choice I would choose a CR, but I'm not selling my PPD yet, the thing just keeps on going!

dnx521dab loom and canbus adaptor
So am update on this old thread I started a while back in case someone else finds it useful, I have managed to get steering while control functions (all be it minus phone answer button) climatronic display and park pilot display. I installed the Kenwood CAW-KIMUN1 canbus interface, which I got on eBay, which is also available online but I only found them in Europe. This interface comes with only one 7pin plug that goes into the head unit, which I assume provides all canbus related info for the head unit. You also need the adaptor harness for this which connects to the cars quad lock stereo connector part number CAW-CKIMVW1. Now in the picture I saw it showed it fitted with Kenwood's stereo adaptor but it came with standard iso plugs. So I then had to get a Kenwood power harness, from eBay, it came with a few extra cables for parking and reverse signal. I didn't bother wiring them in but I have no reverse camera and not bothered about watching DVDs. It's worth noting that connects2 do a info adaptor for this unit as well but I wanted genuine Kenwood. Kenwood advised not using the canbus adaptor and harness due to incomparability ( 2012 on) but I have updated my canbus controller and fitted the facelift steering wheel and wiring to it, so it worked fine (pre FL) may need earlier Kenwood interface. This info might be old news or irrelevant to most folk due to newer Kenwood head units not needing canbus module, I only went down this route due to the ridiculously cheap price I paid for the head unit, I did end up paying for the harnesses and canbus but it didn't bother me, still paid less than getting a boxed unit with all accessories going off what the prices were doing on eBay at the time. I hope this info helps anyone in a similar situation, when I did searches on the topic I was still left with questions mainly with comparability with MK2 octy, and dnx521dab.

Hi, need some suggestions for Cruze control retrofit.
Do you have access to vcds? So you can do a scan and see what's fitted?

dnx521dab loom and canbus adaptor
Recently acquired a Kenwood dnx521dab, which came without the canbus adaptor. I'm am using the loom and adaptor off an old dnx520vbt which works in terms of powering the radio but I get no reverse sensor diagram / climatronic etc. Minimal steering wheel key functions. Does anyone know the correct Kenwood loom and adaptor part numbers? My searching has found these bits so far but unsure if comparable.... CAW-CKIMVW1 (loom) CAW-kimun1 (info adaptor) My car is a 2007 Octavia vrs, with facelift steering wheel and updated controller.

tdi bmn alloy inlet manifold brackets
Hi had a faff trying to find correct brackets (which cover clips to) for inlet manifold 03G129713h which is the alloy one with swirl flaps. if anyone is interested the part number are 03G103941S (drivers side) and 03G103941R (passenger side) these brackets should fit non swirl flaps alloy inlet manifolds too for those who wish to keep engine cover on after plastic to alloy inlet swap.

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Bit more info, the 2 pin connectors required for wing mirror to A pillar is 1J0973332, you can get that plug with pins or get one from breakers. Just so happens its used on drivers side door to power the little LED for alarm. I found a couple and spliced repair wire in to make the loom.

Replacing elegance headunit with a newer OEM headunit
Columbus is a good option to go for, you get Nav and SD card slot but depending on model you don't get bluetooth. You can upgrade with kuftech fiscon basic plus which gives phone and basic Bluetooth streaming. As mentioned you will need to upgrade your canbus module which I think on your year lives behind the glove box. Ideally you need vcds (vagcom) to correctly code the new unit. Having maxidot dash is also a useful feature to use with nav and audio. Lots of posts on columbus fitment. You may need to upgrade your park assist system to display on columbus.

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Update on the auto dim wing mirrors, all fitted and working, couldn't run the wiring through the door controller as it didn't have the pin outs in the module so bypassed. Attached a few pics of the wiring in case it helps anyone else who wants to fit auto dimm mirrors. I didn't fancy laying another loom in the guts of the wiring behind the dash so ran the right hand side down right A pillar. Door connectors were easy as the pull out door side giving easy access to plug for wiring up signal wires from rear view mirror to A pillar door wiring connecter.

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Decided to take apart the mirror to check wiring, looks like the 2 pin connector is for auto dim, all the extra wiring appears to be for the mirror motor/memory function i presume, i can't see any folding motors in there, unless its well hidden, luckily the puddle light wiring was already installed, just vcds coding required. I'm only really interested in getting auto dim functionality so getting that working should be pretty straight forward from here, apart from routing the bloody loom that is!

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Pfl vrs 2007, usual vrs spec, heated, electrically adjustable, that's about it i think.

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Meh easy come easy go, I've only written off one wing mirror in 20 years so hopefully I will avoid that issue 😆🤑🤑🤑. Pretty much all of the pin positions on the plug are filled, with the addition of the extra 2 pin plug, only things I can see extra over my old mirrors are puddle lights and auto dim. Alot of extra wires just for those two added features. Attached is my door to mirror plug 7 of the 12 pins are used compared to 11 of the auto dim mirrors.

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Hi thanks for the info, possibly thats where I've been going wrong with my searches looking for Elegance! I get the impression that these have folding motors too, is this correct?

Pfl auto dim wing mirrors
Have recently retrofitted rain/light sensor and auto dim rear view mirror. Want to fit auto dim wing mirrors now. Have acquired a pair but no idea what pin positions are for what mirror side. Was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram for them? I ammsume they are from elegance spec. They come with two plugs, I think the small plug is for auto dim signals from mirror.
