  1. So, for the benefit of others using this kit - there are 4 connections to make 1 - plug in cruise control switch 2 - plug 6 way connection into BCM 3 - short wire to fused switched 12v supply 4 - long wire through bulkhead to ECU Then VCDS to activate cruise, clear any error codes then test drive 👍 Longest part was managing to thread a wire though the bulkhead grommet behind the glovebox 😖 Sorry, didn't take any photos along the way but there's plenty already online if you search
  2. Can't help with the replacement, but my silencer was doing exactly the same - I cut off the shredded part with an angle grinder and gave the box a quick spray of black paint, didn't see the point in replacing it as underneath it still appears pretty solid, doesn't blow/leak, etc
  3. So, just to confirm - the T11 plug mentioned above is the one which is a pain in the bum to reach, buried under the dash - which can alternatively be connected to the white cable in pin 14 of the T81 plug to the ECU??
  4. Doh! 🤦‍♂️Cheers langers, the mention of water tank was completely throwing me!! 😏
  5. So, on a recent visit to a breakers yard I picked up a genuine cruise control switch for the Fabia, then decided to order a harness from ebay. On arrival it turns out to be a Kufatec harness, although it wasn't purchased through them. The instructions appear to be in pigeon english. One part in particular puzzles me - "Route the cable with the inscription T11/6 rot to the 11-pole plug in the water tank (E-box). Pin the cable into pin 6" Can anybody shed any light on this please? What on earth is a water tank (E-box)??? For reference the Kufatec part number is 46361 which appears correct for my car ('03 1.9Tdi). I've looked on the Kufatec website but it would appear you need to have bought the item directly from them to access their instructions online EN Kabelsatz GRA - Skoda Fabia 6Y.pdf
  6. I had a similar clunk when changing gear when I first bought the car - looked at the dogbone, etc, etc - finally traced it to the driveshaft nut on the front hub hadn't been torqued up properly by the previous owner. Worth checking, 2 mins with a torque wrench to rule it out
  7. What Pete said is bang on. I've had both connections pop - the one behind the seatbelt trim and the one at the firewall - mk1 estate
  8. Cheers Wino, can't hurt. Just rang Skoda, they're now just over £17 - not available until Saturday. Fingers crossed that sorts it
  9. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! Driving the car this morning and the glow plug warning light came on. Googled it and most likely cause was the brake light switch - checked the reflection in a shop window and sure enough no brakelights Called in at my local factors and picked up a new one (non OEM). Replaced it and still no brake lights. Put the old one back in and the brake lights are now permanently on! Scanned with VCDS and cleared the fault code, which immediately came back. The fault code reads as follows - 19655 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal P0571 - 35-00 - - Had a look on Google but can't find anything beyond "replace the brake switch" - people have either reported it's worked or the threads have gone cold. Have had both brake light bulbs out and disconnected the high level brake light with no change. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be please? Thanks in advance for any info Car is an '03 Fabia Elegance estate 1.9TDi, ATD engine code and manual box, no cruise control fitted
  10. Thanks for the reply Sepulchrave In the past I have successfully split the headlights on my B5.5 Passat using this method to rebuild them with new bi-xenon units rather than the standard halogen. Resealing is fairly straightforward using a silicon gun so I have no concerns about that Functionally front foglights are, in my opinion, not worth a carrot. In foggy conditions I don't find them a massive help so I'm not particularly bothered about their performance I have never used them as DRL's - in fact the incorrect use of foglights is something which really boils my pi55. I believe the reflectors have tarnished due to condensation within the unit I have no real use for them other than they are there - and whilst they are there I would at least want them to look a little more presentable than they are
  11. Morning all, I have an '03 Elegance with front foglights . While the front of the car appears quite tidy the reflectors in the foglights have gone all scabby and yellow. I realise they're not massively useful but would like to retain them so I want to try and tidy them up a bit My idea was to split the lamp and just reline the reflector using foil (purely for appearance rather than lighting performance). I took one off yesterday and put it in the oven at 100 degrees for around 10-15 mins, then tried to prise the lens off first with a screwdriver then with a wider woodworking chisel - but no joy. I was wary of turning up the heat or leaving it in too long as knowing my luck it would have resulted in a sticky snotty mess in the bottom of the oven and the wife would have killed me! Has anyone managed to split one of these before, and if so how ? I know I can pick up a set on ebay for around £60 but I'm struggling to justify it when a) they work and b) its just the reflector thats tatty Picture of offending item for info, thanks in advance for any help
  12. Left in the centre position they’re on - and I’ve had them go on a Passat
  13. Handy, didn’t know that. Having said that I only have VCDS Lite - not sure if that’ll do it This is simply a 12v LED soldered into one of the black wires feeding the heater element and earthed out to a regulator panel bolt. Probably could have done it by probing the switch contacts but that was a bit fiddly with the switch plugged in
  14. Turn on the mirrors without the rear window, wait a few minutes and touch the mirror with the back of your hand
