  1. My control module just went on my mk2 vrs the other day. Esp light stayed on constantly. Skoda actually paid for the whole lot to be replaced saving me a considerable bill. May be worth popping in and having a chat
  2. i think coilovers for under 400 would be a bit crashy and low quality tbh. im looking to sort mine out next year and im very tempted to do what turbobell has suggested - however im apprehensive about using oe shocks with aftermarket springs, ive seen so many people do this with other cars and its knackered the shocks and i dont really want that - when i sell the car in the future i may want to revert back to standard and i wont want to 'fork' out(see what i did there) on a new set. there is a german ebay shop called HotCarParts who sells bilstein b12, and h and r cup full kits for 470-480 including postage which is dirt cheap. awesome gti and dpm performance in uk are also pretty good and used by many on here. awesome are doing some special offers on whiteline stuff atm - rear anti roll bars and anti lift kits are reduced and quite tempting and the rarb are very easy to fit yourself. Ben
  3. yeah likewise - ive had mine a year - still completely standard at the moment. ive got used to the size now (coming from an aygo) but have to admit i have slowly backed in to a couple of things in the past! :-/. interested where you have seen my screen name before? the forums ive used/still use are - forzamotorsport.net, zsoc.com, seatcupra.net? any of them maybe? im not a prolific poster but its an unusual name all the same. love the festival of speed - only been once as its a bit of a trek from somerset but ive got the wife in to cars now so the intention is to go again. Ben
  4. welcome to the forum, im relatively new myself, but they are a good bunch on here - no squabbling like you tend to find on all forums these days.... what you have asked has been covered many times - do a search and a plethora of answers will pop up. most people get a rear anti roll bar which tightens the steering up a lot and transforms the handling. there are anti lift kits available which help get the power down and reduce wheel hop, with regards to lowering, it all depends what you intend to use the car for? if you want to track it then maybe coilovers are what you need however if its a daily driver, they may be too harsh for our pot holed roads so maybe think about going down the shocks and springs route if thats the case. in terms of power upgrades - exhaust wont get you much other than noise however a large bore down pipe gets rid of a restriction in the system. some people use open cone induction kits, however there are mixed feelings regarding how well the car drives after fitting one ( i guess some of it comes down to price?) the most obvious upgrade would be a remap - loads of well known companies will supply stage 1 and up software which apparently transforms the car. where are you based steve? there is a forge action day at castle combe on sept 13th and briskoda have a stand there i believe - a good opportunity to have a chat with people who have a bit more knowledge than me lol Ben
  5. Does anybody else not think it's totally stupid about the ride height difference between advertised and actual on a vrs? If it doesnt lower a vrs by 30mm, then don't advertise it as lowering a vrs by 30mm lol. Sorry, sunday afternoon rant over, surely can't be alone with thinking that can I?
  6. love it! out of interest, do you know exhaust system its running? i like the look of the tail pipes. Ben
  7. gotcha. i think i will just plump for the solid bushes and an anti lift kit and not bother with the actual arms as I probably wont feel the full benefit. h and r cup kit sound good too....and cheap (ish) from germany as well!
  8. Ahh I see, you are just talking about the bushes. I'm thinking of getting the arms as well so the geometry is changed too. I've read lots of people have done it. I'm assuming it's the mk2 tt they are off.
  9. TsvRS - did you use tt or S3 control arms? and where is best place to get them from? breakers yard? direct from audi? thanks in advance, Dazzle - im sorry if i have hijacked your thread! ( i guess what people have been saying is related to your opening post tho
  10. This is my problem atm. Mines only done 52k and either my dampers are on their way out our I've just got used to the handling (coming from an aygo lol) next year I'm definitely going to be modifying it- I just got to decide what I want to do. I quite like the sound of ap coilovers and I also like arbs, im just not sure its worth doing both for an everyday driver? If I stick with original setup, id change the lower control arms and allignment, I'm a big fan of fairly stiff, direct feeling cars......aarrrgghhh choices!
  11. Any body in or around yeovil with ap coilies on a mk2 octy vrs?
  12. Ha! Well phoned up insurance company today to see how one would affect my policy. ....... They wouldn't even cover me if I put one in lol. It's up for renewal in December so I shall be looking around and trying chriss knott with club discount that's for sure. It just means I got some time to save for more goodies!
  13. Enquired about effect on my policy today if I fitted an intake, allianz won't insure any car with performance upgrades on. Buggers. Not really that interesting but annoying for me and thought others may want a heads up for future reference.
  14. Oik Thanks for the advice. Does it sound pretty similar to the p-flo? Ok as an every day drive etc?
  15. Hiya, I would like to make my pre fl tfsi vrs sound a bit more vocal and am thinking about an autotech intake, anybody used or got one of these? I looked at the p-flo but I'm not excited about spending 200 on one. Thanks in advance ben
  16. Thanks I will join. I think I may know someone local from the club. He has a black legnum vr4? His name is Colin I think. (Friend of a friend)
  17. Hi fellow yeovillite here. Race blue pre facelift octy vrs. Nice to meet you. You are right, there are a fair few fast skodas around the town.
  18. Hi. Recently bought a mk2 fl tfsi vrs and coming from an aygo I'm loving every second-as you'd imagine! I've got a question about my dmf. I've done a search which has been non conclusive-the problem I have is that when I'm pulling away in 1sti get a slight grinding noise and what can be described as a gritty feeling through the clutch pedal. It's not incredibly bad and I don't have many of the symptoms I've read on here like spanners in washing machines and erratic idling ect but there is a noise that is similar to a rattle on start up but sounds more exhaust than starter motor spinning. ... I just wondered if this is normal? I've had clutch and flywheel problems with past cars so I do tend to get a bit paranoid with these things. Lol I have a good 12 month Warrentee so I shall be keeping an ear on it over next month or so. Thanks, Ben
  19. well i pick it up on friday. got a good deal in the end and cant wait!!!
  20. yep that road is fantastic! the winding coast road is even better if you ask me. and if i do end up buying the car (as i suspect i will) then that is definately the way back i will be driving!!!! a bit of a hidden gem that one - you only have to take note of how many motorcyclists go down there to know that. amazing views of chesil beach. on a nice day its unbeatable. im in yeovil but used to live just outside axminster.
  21. hi, just on the cusp of buying a tfsi octy vrs. drove one in weymouth couple of days ago and its the only car that ticked all the boxes - fast, economical (for performance) huge boot, looked good and handled well. currently got an aygo so erm yeah.....pretty similar cars tbh lol. fed up with no torque and a rough sounding engine all the time. apart from that we have just rehomed a retired greyhound and she doesnt fit too well in the aygo lol. the one i looked at was 07 plate 43k full service history inc just had cambelt done, new tyres and 12month warrantee (sp) and it was blue without parking sensors. it was a tad over priced at £8k. what do you think? thanks and i look forward to contributing to this site. Ben
