  1. Thanks for the info and suggestions I just don't want to be paying into a money pit in the near future if you get what u mean As I say I have spent a lot of time deciding which ones I want I think I might just bite the bullet But will have a look at the pb ones you recommend as I've not seen nor heard of And Harry thanks for your side to side comparison of the ap and kw as it was going to be between the two
  2. I've got an 05 vrs which I've had for 3 years now and have eventually made my mind up which suspension I want but the car is old now What do you guys think If so where is the best place Thanks sam
  3. 16" or 17" and what et are you thinking Just out of curiosity And I would suggest lowering eventually as they look like a 4x4
  4. Just give it a gentle tweak like I did works a treat been fine for over two years now
  5. Thank you for all your help I was in a bit of a rush to fix this and I fitted a rack through the night before going away in the morning but will bear that in mind for next time hopefully there won't be a next time but can never be sure Thanks again Sam Also for anyone with the same symptoms this solved the problem
  6. Yes rack is recon for a new one skoda want £1000 that's a third of the cars value and I've not hit anything hardenough to bend the ram I don't think And are you also saying keep away from recon and get new
  7. Mine is also green I have power steering problems too On a 05 vrs
  8. Thank you for your reply ken I was thinking the same however I fitted a rack 15 months ago should it fail this soon ? There are no warning lights on the dash either so I can't read a fault code for it
  9. Hi all power steering assistance works fine on lock right hand down no problems but left hand down from wheels being straight and steering wheel between 45° and 90°left hand down the steering gets very stiff it can be turned through and then is fine again and it's fine turning back Does anyone have any idea where to look first Checked the fluid that's fine Also this is not intermittent it's at the same point evry time and my headlights don't flicker Thanks in advance
  10. I did mine the other week after forgetting to reconnect you will need to remove your foot rest 10mm plastic nut thing at the top I left mine in but would be easier to remove the trim at the side too then If you look up the side of your clutch pedal there is a a gear which you can rotate and there is a small grey stubb in a one way fitting and a long part acting as a clip to hold in place This is to attach to the side of the actual heater box and not the dial is this what you mean by inner ? Hope this helps
  11. I got the expensive stuff from skoda a few months ago and when cold it's a nightmare I changed it because I thought it was notchy is now twice as bad so I'm going to either get the old stuff or look for an alternative the stuff I got cost 28quid per litre and I needed 3 and it's crap
  12. Does it do it under hard acceleration ? If so it's not the console bushes and can't see it being any engine mount or the dmf and that's everything stated covered I think does it happen with clutch pressed down
  13. I like a bit of body roll only little amounts it's good feed back from the road Stuart are you HRS stainless ?
  14. Damien the h&r twin tubes that your selling for £600 I know it says they are triple coated zinc can't remember exact wording are these stainless steel although it wouldn't make sense to be coated in zinc I've seen a set of h&r twin tubes version 1 in stainless for £505 delivered
  15. Do those bounce at all Stuart is there still small amounts of body roll Also where did you buy yours from
  16. How do you feel they perform is there much bouncing and are they hard
  17. I don't mind spending the little extra will just save for another few weeks What made you decide on the h&r twin tubes I did have a look at those
  18. Do the ap come with helpers as the old kit used to before all the clunking problems or do they still provide a rubber hose Do you have the St coilovers Damien ?
  19. Doesn't have to be but I like the adustabilitiy I have thought about shocks and springs as I will keep more comfort As for the fk street and JOM'S I would get them but I think I would have to get some better ones at a later date would rather a single outlay rather than two Harry did you buy the aps brand new recently And did they have helper springs included in the kit
  20. Hi all I've been looking through all the posts about different coilovers and there are a few more common than others like ap and weitec However I've been looking at all makes I want to lower the car but not loads just sensible lows and I want to maintain some comfort as it's a daily driver and there may well be 1 or 2 track days per year involved so nothing major that makes me want to spend 1000 quid or more on kw or the likes More so for spirited driving The few which stand out are: JOM'S: Cheap and cheerful and reviews say a little hard and bouncy but people say they can't fault them AP: Early models good (With helper spring) harder than standard not too much bounce good sturdy hold round corners New models not so good loads of noise below 40mph and they fall out of there seats and allow debris into topmounts Weitec: Good unit better than ap some have issues with noises most don't but now these are around £700 mark little too pricey Any one have any views on bilstien b14 as I've seen those brand new for 700 as stated little pricey but may stretch I have also seen St coilovers around £550 mark but can't find much about them on the mk1 vrs Does anyone rate them Budget realistically is £400 ish but will go either way I know there are many threads about coilovers but all the ones I've found are between 2009 and 2013 Have ap reintroduced the helper spring a few seen to have increased prices quite a lot Thanks sam
  21. ÷1 on vw spares got two for my vrs about a year ago £54 each I paid General traffic and the likes wanted £100+ each plus they wanted my old ones Vw spares go for the unpainted ones they are exactly the same caliper just without green paint Give them a flick over with what ever colour you want Also you don't have to send your old ones back and it's still half the price
