Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry...

^^^^ This. Maybe find a part worn Contact 3 on eBay with similar life left to the one you have then wear them both down together. -

Digital speedo KMH to MPH
StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Cheers guys, much appreciated :-) -
Could anyone tell me the process on VCDS to change the cars location to Australia so that the digital speedo reads in MPH not KMH? A local forum member has kindly offered to change it for me but is unsure of the process. Cheers all..

Might be worth trying another disc then, have you got an original or copy? -

I reckon the progress bar restarted about 5 or 6 times before it completed, it took a good 3 hours. How many times have you tried? Might be worth giving it a few more attempts before getting another disc. -
Thinking of Buying a vRS
StreetHawk replied to ArcticBlue's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The 2010 one is pricey and both cars are pretty much base spec by the look of it, the 2012 one has front/rear parking sensors though. It's nice to buy from a main dealer for peace of mind with the warranty/assistance offered but you are paying for this in the price of the car. Personally I prefer to buy privately and speak to the owner, find out how the car has been looked after etc. If it was me I'd be waiting for a higher specced privately owned and pampered car for less money. -
Thanks for posting this , have just reminded me to try and get mine done, I've PM'd a guy local to me (Crowthorne, Berkshire) he is the nearest on the map to me. Have you looked on the map for local VCDS owners?

Bluetooth working on only one side
StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've found a solution , well , more of a work around for my iphone music playing everytime I get in the car and it connects. I downloaded an app called A2DPblocker which stops the music player connecting but still allows bluetooth hands free calling as normal. Not ideal as if I want to stream music I have to disable the app first but it's a lot better than having to stop the music playing and switch music source everytime you get in the car! -
What to look for when buying.
StreetHawk replied to Mikecoulson207's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've just bought a CR170 DSG facelift model and I'd highly recommend the DSG, it's effortless driving.. A couple of things to look for from recent experience, check it's had a cambelt and water pump if it's 4 years old or more, also the DSG oil/filter change at 40k. Check the wear on the tyres, some came from the factory with camber issues. Pull out the spare wheel or compressor/sealant and check for water ingress. I'd recommend the xenons , columbus and maxidot as good options to look for. Best of luck!- 1 reply

Bluetooth working on only one side
StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Have a new problem now, iphone starts playing music whenever I get in the car and it syncs up. I have to manually stop it and switch the music source. Annoying! Does anybody know how to solve this? Been googling but no answer yet just lots of people complaining of the same thing.. -

Cheers Adam, found that page this morning after looking further into it. Might have a go myself with a couple of repair wires. -
What did you do to your Skoda today?
StreetHawk replied to RobClubley's topic in General Automotive Chat
A productive day for my vRS. Updated my columbus to new firmware & updated to the latest maps. Got my wheel alignment adjusted so now runs perfectly straight. Fitted my updated bluetooth module so my iphone now connects. Tomorrow - cleaning it! -
Thanks for the offer, much appreciated! I have a set of winter wheels lined up so should be all sorted.

Just swapped my bluetooth box to a newer version (3C8035730D) but the bluetooth through phone calls and music is only coming out the right hand side. Is this normal and is there a way to make it play through all the speakers? Cheers..

Columbus firmware update & maps
StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
No need for another disc, I left it to cycle through a few more times and it's downloaded, all done. Now on version 4024 firmware and V11 maps. Thanks to all those who helped, much appreciated. -
Columbus firmware update & maps
StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well I managed to update my unit with 4024 firmware but the V11 maps disc I have just cycles round. Does anybody have a V7 or later maps disc they no longer need? Cheers all.. -
I may go down this route and find a cheap set and sell them on afterwards. Thanks for the input so far guys.

Yes been on the wicked wheels website but they only push back the tyre and do the face of the rim. I'm planning to keep this car for a while so I'm looking for a full refurb job, ie stripped back and powder coated. I don't think it's possible for that to be done in a van, unless someone knows otherwise?

Does anybody know of a reputable wheel refurbisher who offers loan wheels while working on yours? I can't be without the car at the moment but just bought mine and the curbed wheels are really bugging me. I'm in Crowthorne, Berkshire. Cheers all :-)

It only works when the headlights are set to auto and it's dark enough outside.. Just figured this out as was wondering why mine weren't working!

StreetHawk replied to StreetHawk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Cheers, appreciate the links but I'm looking for someone who could supply the firmware on a disc that's suitable for my early columbus unit so I can update the maps to 7 digit postcode compatible. Either that or a dummies guide on how to burn it!
