Which engine should I choose?
saurabhdutt replied to Rainmaker's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Hi there, I went for SE 1.2 hatch 10 months ago and initially I loved it however I had to drive up to Edinburgh and Highlands and with 3 people and boot full of luggage and the car did struggle a bit. You will have to plan well in advance to over take. I have done 15000 miles so far and getting around 50 MPG. Cant complaint however my current milage is going to increase and wanted a bigger boot. Now I have gone for a 1.6 black edition estate which is due to come next week. I had driven a 1.6 diesel before and have to say the drive is not much different than a 1.2 TSI however you still get a good pull from it. My biggest reason of going for a 1.6 is no road tax and increased MPG. I had a 1.4 TSI as a loan car and it did put a big smile on my face every time I took off however I never got more than 35 MPG. If you try really hard then you might be able to get around 40. IMHO, if its the economy you are after then 1.6 however performance you will get from a 1.4 TSI. Lets see what other people have to add. Cheers Saurabh -

Skoda's new Limited Black Edition
saurabhdutt replied to saurabhdutt's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I am part of your gang now. I have gone for 1.6 estate black edition. Just loved the look of the car. This car is bit of a mistery at the moment. My dealer has told me that the car will be arriving at the end of the month. Will post some pictures once I get my hands on it. -
Thanks guys. With all the comments I have been getting I am pretty much sure that I shall be sticking with my 1.2. As per extras are concerned, I did add centre arm rest, cruise control to my SE. So, I will be paying extra for leather heated seats, big alloys and sat nav really. Even 10MPG more wouldn't even break even the extra cost with the number of miles I will be doing. Cheers fellas. I have just loved my 10 months old Octavia 1.2 TSI SE in black. The dealer contacted me as I showed little bit interest in the TDI Octavia in Elegance spec. He has found an Elegance 1.6 TDI manual in silver with leather seats, front heated seats and a spare wheel. This will cost me an extra £100 every month with a straight swap (no deposit). Few things I wanted to ask you guys; 1. Is it worth buying a diesel over a petrol engine. So far I am pretty impressed with the performance of a little 1.2 engine. I am averaging 56 MPG ( i have a light right foot) 2. I will lose the 0% PCP and 3 free services 3. I will lose few extras on my current car (door protector, door sills, tinted windows, boot protector) 4. I do around 1000 miles per month and I am aware of DPF clogging 5. Will i save money in a longer run (running cost and residual) I would really appreciate if you could help me with this. Saurabh

White MC looks great. I love my red sport and initially wanted the white however didn't like the red stickers. White MC with black stickers sounds sweet.

Hi all, I have had my CitiGo Sport for around 5 months now and done 7,400 miles. Few times I have noticed an issue which I would like to share with you. The first gear gets very difficult to engage if I don't start the car for couple of days. Initially it is too hard to put it in the first gear and you drive it for few miles and then it starts getting softer. Issue is only with the first gear. If I keep on driving the car every single day then there is no issue what so ever. Has any one of you had such issue?? Thanks Saurabh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought it would be up for orders from tomorrow onwards (Confirmed by Skoda Customer Service) which means it should be out in 12 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Are thinking of upgrading to Monte Carlo?

I am looking forward to seeing the Fabia III which looks like the Rapid space back. Skoda is going to launch Citigo SUV this year too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

+1 om that. I did try Rapid and wasn't impressed with the driving position. I am not sure if they are making any changes with the suspension in MC. I might be wrong though. -

I would love to have a black grill and black wing mirrors. I am not too sure about the black roof even though MC doesn't have black roof. May be the steering wheel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

+1 on that. I think there is no point in Sport owners going for a change as its not that different. What changes are you thinking of making? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I have done 7400 in 3 months. Been to Isle of Skye, Scotland and Highland on my Sport and there was no issue what so ever with the comfort. I too have mark III Octy however I prefer taking my sport as its so much fun to drive and so very economical. Go for it and you wouldn't regret. I love white cars however with all due respect I just didn't like it on Citigo. Go for the silver if its free or the Red. Keep us posted.
