  1. I don't like them either. What are they actually for? It can't be a styling thing... can it?
  2. My vRS TSI hatch has been confirmed for build week 44. Expected delivery will be end of November/start of December. Looking forward to trying this petrol engine out. I've heard good things...
  3. Just got to have my say on the whole 'running in' debate here as it is very simple indeed. The engines are run in at the factory prior to installation in your car. There is no need to be cautious with your new cars. The engines are prepared and ready to go. Oh, and excuse my manners, the car looks great! Congratulations! And the lights at night are great, I love them too.
  4. I couldn't care less if Lane assist was not on my car. Personally, I really didn't like it. And surely that would mean I got something else for free seeing as it was 'standard'?
  5. The 19' are looking great there Rob. Fine choice. I'm pretty sure I'd never notice the difference in ride with either, and like you I do like a firm set up anyway. Anything soft feels wrong to me. Bit expensive for me at the moment, but certainly going to keep my eyes open. I like the 18s anyway, they're a really good standard wheel I think.
  6. This is very interesting, the vRS with another 50 hp or so would be monumental I bet. Do you think work would need doing on the suspension with that kind of set up?
  7. Yes, totally agree. The execution is very poor there. They could have made that a lot better. Just needs tidying up.
  8. This is what i've ordered. I have pictures on my laptop but I don't know how to upload them? I see a 'My Media' option on this posting tool here next to the faces? Not sure if this is how to do it? I love Meteor Grey. It look great with the black pack, and you can bet your backside that it will look unique on the road!
  9. Yes, there are a lot of people who like cars out on the road. 100% agree with you on that. I'm one of them. When i'm sat in traffic on a cold wintery day the last thing i'm thinking about is an exhaust cloud... but that's just me. Not sure how you can garuntee it will bug people, it certainly wouldn't bug me. I've ordered the petrol anyway though, so these are just my thoughts on this particular matter. The diesel vRS is still a very quick and accomplished car so I'm sure the owners will be thinking more about how great their new car is than 'I wonder how my smokey backside is looking'. My friend has a mapped BMW 335d which puts out 310hp and 400lb-ft of torque. I've been lucky enough to drive it. I think if that particular oil burner came anywhere near us vRS drivers, we'd be the ones to move over!
  10. I wish I had a build week! I've got no extras on my car except the glass and the colour I chose! I can't wait for it to arrive. Hopefully for Xmas, that'll be the best present i've ever had...
  11. Ah yes I had forgotten about that... Really sorry to hear about your new car! Gutted! It'll all be fixed again soon though. Who knows, maybe they'll even sort out the Columbus for you! It seems everybody's Skoda does different things? Some people have lights that bend and some don't?
  12. I agree with more or less everything you've said in this thread. Anybody who doesn't understand that Skoda's are great cars is just plain stupid. Skoda make high quality cars for a good price. What isn't to like about that? In the Czech Rep they are raved about. It's just snobby Daily Fail reading morons who think otherwise. I hope they are happy in their pooorly specced and slow 6 year old BMW 116i's. The tactic I used was telling my friend I had bought a new car, but not telling him what it was, then turning up in it at night and taking him for an all-out blitz around the Devon country roads here, he was blown away by the Fabia vRS's power and handling! One other thing i'd like to point out, how on Earth is the Fiesta ST a 5-star car and the Fabia vRS a 2? That is absolute bull***t. The Fiesta ST is a great car, no doubt, but 3 better than the vRS? I can tell you now for a fact the Fabia vRS is quicker. Somebody is lining the pockets of the media to rave about cars that are yes, good, but not tons better than the competition. Until that stops happening the old stigma and snotty-woman opinions on what is the most competitve and best value car manufacturer in Europe today, will never go away. Don't buy the Daily Mail. Only toilet roll that leaves more **** on than what you had in the first place. I may have just gone on a rant here... so sorry about that. Skoda is the future though, im sure of it!!!
  13. I really think the sound generators should only be on the petrol cars. Diesels should just be about sensation I think. Surge. Leave the audio drama to the petrol engines. I sure would love a M135i by the way!
  14. Ah ok, so is that why that guy on the Drive channel on youtube uses that device to measure paint thickness? So he can guage what kind of approach to make? And clay bars lift off bad particles and stuff? So do you use clay after you have washed the car? or before? Oh, and Rob jeez! That wax is £1200?! Amazing! I can't believe how expensive that stuff is!
  15. Is it possible this gentleman knows people who don't use machines because they work on super-high grade stuff like he mentioned previously? I know nothing about detailing so i'm just reading and learning. I don't want to take any sides I was just wondering if they didn't use machines because of the type of cars they are?
  16. I ordered my vRS TSI hatch around 2 months ago, not even had a provisional build date yet. Only thing I specced was colour and sunset glass...
  17. I'd love to see a matt-black modded 'End of the world' survival style Yeti. I bet that would be awesome.
  18. Mr. HKP you're pretty up to speed on coding are you not? Can you shed any light?
  19. Good point, that's kind of exciting then. How does coding work on these new models? Do you need to be connected to a Skoda mainframe or anything?
  20. I don't think anybody will really notice to be honest. Most people sitting in queues on a winter morning will just be half asleep listening to radio 3 or something, I bet they won't even think about the fact only 1 exhaust plume is coming from the TDI. Also, sounds expensive.
  21. I've ordered my first Octavia (vRS) and I have just turned 26. I think they're seriously cool!
  22. Big respect to anybody who can spend ages cleaning and caring for their car, I find it absolutely soul destroying. I love driving, and that's it. I don't enjoy working on cars or cleaning them. If my past cars could talk i'm sure you'd all be horrified!
  23. I've not dealt with them personally, but you'll be lucky finding a tyre place to fit them. My mate bought some tyres online and went to about 5 shops and none of them would fit them unless you'd bought the tyres from them. Don't know if anybody else has had that experience?
  24. Thanks very much for putting up such a good review, I very much enjoyed reading it, and I'm really pleased you're enjoying your new car so much. From reading the forum I am suprised more people haven't gone for the petrol TSI. I had the privelidge of borrowing the TDI for a weekend before I ordered, and I was very impressed with it, it was excellent, but I felt the car needed the TSI to really do it justice. By the way, the race blue is looking fantastic!
