Android Auto not connecting
It looks like a "Swing", and if it's like the one in my Rapid it doesn't do android auto. I'm slightly surprised you don't have "Bolero" infotainment unit - versions of that from about 2016 support android auto. It appears in the set-up options - the (GB) user guides are here: https://manual.skoda-auto.com/210/en-GB/models

Yes, it's a bit of a squeeze... and fair comment about the price of the keys.

Car Alarm goes off each time i open the door
OK, bifocal error on my part - I just had a careful look at the batteries in the four Skoda keys we have... The original Panasonic batteries in three of the keys are all CR2025, NOT CR2032. - original post corrected now 30-11-2021 The fourth one is/was the CR2032 I shoved in the other week - it does "fit" but doesn't locate properly until the cover is pressed on, whereas the CR2025 locates and stays in place without the cover on. I have put a CR2025 in there now as there are plenty of things at home which use the CR2032. CR2032 would do in emergency, if you were "locked out" and could be bothered to uncover the key hole in the drivers door.

Problems with Amundsen Navigation system (Dec 2018 version fitted)
re-read your last post, and thought about it - Did "local traffic" work when the licence was valid? If so, the reply by @john999boy in the "Skoda connect - worth it?" thread answers the question: Yes it would stop Mark. £44 to get another years worth. As you say, it's a surprise Skoda can't come up with an answer.... maybe they are confused by TMC doing what it can, or can't be ***** to find out.

Problems with Amundsen Navigation system (Dec 2018 version fitted)
OK next question: does you fabia have skoda connect? AFAIK it is built into a lot of Skodas from 2018 onwards, and when suitably activated is capable of all sorts of data use, including traffic data for satnav. (I drove a newish fabia "Drive" recently and it had skoda connect - I assumed it was a "Drive" thing, but your "SEL" should also be well specified.)

Problems with Amundsen Navigation system (Dec 2018 version fitted)
probably not. however, answer a few questions to help me find out if i'm helping: does your amundsen use rds/tmc for the traffic information? if so, can you receive classic fm from your location*? By way of explanation, as i understand it, tmc is old school traffic information delivery - via classic fm - and is/was likely to be phased out with the planned demise of the fm service. ( for what it's worth i believe the fm service is likely to continue due to complaints about the planned closure. Traffic information in newer kit is delivered as data, either piggy-backed from your phone (e.g. recent tomtom) or dedicated data sim in a new(ish) model car. * likely to be 101.8 mHz from north-west lancashire for you, according to https://ukradiolive.com/classic-fm/frequency see also https://discussions.tomtom.com/en/discussion/1123537/live-traffic-using-rds-tmc-services-in-uk-in-2020 if bored.

I suppose nothing should surprise me by now - check before you replace... Change from the 1.2 to 1.0 Model?, despite both being registered 2017 (Is yours a Toledo?)

Is there an update to Infotainment System (5Q0035842A / H24) newer than 0241?
If you get that same error with several phones it would suggest it is car settings. As I understand these things - you need to check the following settings in the car: Time: - Time settings Time format: - Set the time format Summer time - Switches the summer setting on/off Automatic summer time - switch on/off the automatic daylight savings time change Make sure the car is not in summer mode as the internal clock today would be 1 hour out in the UK, compared to UTC which is what all computer/phone/car clock internal stuff should be on regardless of where in the World you are, and the offset for timezone and daylight saving should be dealt with in the software running on top.

Is there an update to Infotainment System (5Q0035842A / H24) newer than 0241?
I can't read the error message - I have enough trouble understanding error messages in "English". However, have you tried another good quality usb lead?

Unresponsive headunit - touch not working
@Entropyk Have a you look at the thread "I need a bolero update", and ask @pab567there. There's also an old thread about the specific version you have:

Timing belt renewal
I am another who is betting/hoping that this particular engine will be OK - I'm sure I recall seeing stuff about the design of the "EA211" engine, and its long life (Continental?) belt. What I would really like to see, to dot the i's and cross the t's, is for someone from outside the UK to post the recommendations/service schedule for the 1.2 litre version of this engine in their country. I tried using a proxy server to see what happens in Oz, but never quite got to see anything - they wanted vehicle ID with a VIN before I could "book" anything to see what was required at a specific service. In the mean time, you can take "for life" two ways - if the belt fails it is end of life for the engine...

Sat Nav Question
The state of map updates on your car might be found here, if it is new enough: https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB There may even be a clue there to a problem - is your SD card 32 or 64GB? Is the satnav update mentioned on the service sheet / work done from the second year service? The link says the update is chargeable, so if they did it you should have proof, and have some leverage with the dealer. I'm not convinced that "they all do that" (now), but I have had a satnav in the past which did (not Skoda)

Unresponsive headunit - touch not working
You might find that the screen of the head unit is suffering with the cold and damp/condensation, if this morning in Cardiff is anything like it is here in the Midlands. It will probably come back to life after the car has warmed up inside. Regarding plug and play of another unit - I think not. Which head unit is it?

CHANGE OF TIRES 215/45 R16 TO 215/55 R16
Good point about rim width - yet another way of getting it wrong...
-
CHANGE OF TIRES 215/45 R16 TO 215/55 R16
I have no idea about rules, regulations and enforcement in your part of the World, but in the UK things would go badly wrong for you if there was an accident and the insurance found out you had the wrong size tyres on the car. In terms of speedometer error, you would get under reading of 5 mph / 8 kph at 70 mph using the site @nta16 provided above. It might be better to opt for 185/55 R16, or even a set of smaller wheels with the size of tyre Skoda expect to be fitted. Take care, John H

- Fabia Mk III Infotainment system question - what changed between 18 and 68 plates?
You can download the user guides for specific cars and their production periods here: https://manual.skoda-auto.com/210/en-GB/models View for yourself what VAG documentation says, as what the Swing (for instance) is capable of seems to vary - My 2017 Rapid has a Swing which has no "Smartlink", but later ones have. The issue is that cars are sometimes (pre)registered to fill quotas, or sell old stock so the production date may be months earlier than expected, and your division of 18 or 68 plate probably doesn't exactly match production changes. If you have a specific car in mind put the VIN into the guide choice. AFAIK the business with how many buttons the infotainment has is down to type - Blues/Swing/Swing plus/Bolero/Amundsen, in order of cost/screen size/toys available. More knobs and bigger screen is generally better, but I'm not sure Amundsen is everyone's first choice for SatNav. Good luck with your choice, John H- Smartlink shows Android auto & Mirrorlink but no CarPlay
Your 2018 infotainment unit looks like a "Swing". The specification shown in the user guide for build 07-2018 https://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Fabia_NJ/07-2018/Manual/Fabia/A06_Fabia_OwnersManual.pdf as far as I can see it doesn't even mention Android auto in the Swing section, on page 112, it only shows SmartLink+ menu settings › In the main SmartLink menu, tap on function surface . ■Activate data transfer for ŠKODA apps- Activate/deactivate data transfer for ŠKODA applications ■MirrorLink® - Settings of the system MirrorLink® ■Connect automatically via Bluetooth - Activate/deactivate the option of pairing and connecting the external device via Bluetooth® ■Allow MirrorLink® notification to be shown - Activate/deactivate the display of Mirror link® application messages on the Infotainment screen It might be worth asking @pab567 (maybe in the Bolero update thread) if he knows anything about the various Swing options - what updates if any are possible. For instance the Swing in my 2017 Rapid has no Smartlink options at all. Regards, John H- Car Alarm goes off each time i open the door
I have recently changed the battery in one of the key fobs for my Rapid. It was a CR2032 CR2025 battery*, and the biggest difficulty was getting the cover off - I ended up using the outer end of the other key blade in the slot positions "B" as shown in the attached picture. A little twist in alternate "B" ends until you can remove the cover by hand. The battery pings out with a bit of leverage in the cut out hinted at in the picture. When the key is working the red LED opposite the key release button flashes when you press a button. I had no issue with alarms, but it was not my usual key with the flat battery. If the key needs re-synchronising here's a cut and paste from the handbook: "If the buttons on the remote control key have been depressed several times beyond the effective range of the equipment or the battery has been replaced in the remote control key and the vehicle cannot be unlocked with the remote control, the key must be synchronised. › Press any button on the remote control key. › Unlock the door with the key in the lock cylinder within 1 minute of pressing the button." Regards John H * CR2032 CR2025 can be found in the £shop, or equivalent discount place, on a card with 2 or more batteries of that size. Plus a number of CR3032's, and some CR2015's which find use in some of the books my grandchildren enjoy. Premium branded batteries may well last longer.- Comments about 21 plate Fabia III SE Drive 1.0 TSI
Just to add something I noticed taking it back: both electric front windows are "one touch", and will both open and close using a long press on the open or close button on the key fob.- Comments about 21 plate Fabia III SE Drive 1.0 TSI
Today I have a loan car while my Rapid is at the garage - a Fabia III SE Drive 1.0 TSI Some comments, comparing it with a 65 plate 1.2TI estate: the 3 pot engine is flatter than a flat thing until it gets to 2000+ rpm, it's alright if you keep it wound up. rear brakes are drum rather than disk - no worries about rusty disks, but I recall the drums sticking on when parked on both the Fabia II's we had in the past. the clutch action is nice, it starts to bite quite gently with the pedal still a long way down, and gear selection is easier and lighter on the newer car. the locking does leave the boot locked when the driver is in the car and can be opened when the drivers door is opened. (get back home - I'm playing with the menus on screen, and Mrs wants to get the shopping out of the boot: "open your door, will you?") the infotainment is probably amundsen, as it has 8 buttons on the front and satnav (which is either not set up or hasn't got the maps/SD card in) but still put "N" or whatever compass direction in the top of the display. you don't need to download radio station icons and mess about with an SD card - find what you want to listen to and press a place and the screen: bingo!, or Radio2, if you want. I can't hear any noises from the infotainment screen area, but my hearing isn't as good as it was many years ago. it has Skoda connect? it has parking sensors front and rear - the front one startled me bit(!) - but no rear camera. it has a 49Ah EFB battery. It is noisier in the car on poor road surfaces, but the cover over the boot area is missing - so that probably isn't helping. it is on 215/45R16 Nexen N blue hd plus, while ours is on 15" Davanti's - the less said about those the better. the steering isn't quite right - I'm guessing somebody has kerbed it, or knocked it in some way, but the wheels look fine - It has a slight tendency to want to go slightly left on a straight flat road. That's about it really - it's quite a nice car, but the boot's not big enough (compared to the estate/combi) and I couldn't comment about long term costs keeping Skoda connect going. Regards, John H - Fabia Mk III Infotainment system question - what changed between 18 and 68 plates?
