  1. Thanks John that was very useful actually. I think I’ve sussed it: - 18 plate Colour Edition used Bolero system with 4 buttons - 68+ plate Colour Edition uses Swing system with 3 buttons - the 4 button unit on the 18 plate SE L is the same Bolero system as the Colour Edition - the 4 button unit on the 68+ plate SE L is an has the Amundsen sat nav. - the 3 button system that appears on the 68 plate SE (not L as I wrongly had read) is the same as the swing unit in the colour edition. With respect to cruise control, all the SE L’s have this, whereas the SE does not - one letter caused me all this confusion! phew.
  2. Hi all. I'm looking to buy a 2nd hand Fabia (having had a MK1 VRs back in the day) and have a query relating to the infotainment systems - have had a dig and can't seem to find the answer. I'm looking at either an SE L (110 bhp) or Colour Edition (95 bhp). As I'm sure most of you know, in mid 2018 there were a bunch of minor changes made to the Fabia, one of these was an upgrade to the infotainment system. In the Colour Edition, the infotainment system went from having 8 buttons to 6 - seemingly on all of them. On the SE L, some 68 or newer plates have the 3 button but some have 4 (and I can't find any that have Cruise Control and the "newer" 3 button system). What is the functional difference between these two systems? Is one "better" than the other? Cheers
  3. I see. I thought that might have been the case. Does that mean that the Colour Edition went from having Sat Nav built in (4 button units on the 18 plates) by default to not (3 button units on 68 and newer plates)?
  4. Thanks for that, although this site doesn’t seem to cover this change at 2018. I guess my question is also a more practical one. Is the three-button unit a “newer” unit, and what are the practical differences?
  5. Hi. I'm looking to upgrade to a new Fabia, looking around late 2018 (post facelift). However, I'm looking at a couple of different models (SE L and Colour Edition), and the SE L has a couple of different radio options. Some have three buttons, the same as the Colour Edition radios from 68 plate onwards (so I assume this is the newer one). Is there any difference in terms of function? Thanks Chris While some have four buttons:
  6. Unfortunately, my VRS died a few months ago (RIP - not a day goes by where I don't miss you). Anyway, I have a spare key fob for it that has been hanging around in my locker at the office, unused, for the last couple of years. Can this be reprogrammed, or be any use to anyone or must it be relegated to the bin? It's been cut, so I'd guess maybe the latter? Cheers
  7. Bloody hell you're either in surveillance or we're related...
  8. Hahaha, I don't know how I missed this response before... I had a reputable garage in London take a look at the fault in the first instance (not sure they went as far as taking the rocker cover off though). They told me that, were it a fault with the injector and it required replacing, it would probably not be economical to repair. I would absolutely love to get it fixed. Unfortunately I don't really have the time or money to be going back to Somerset and taking it elsewhere to be charged more money to possibly be told it'll cost 500 quid to get it sorted.
  9. I appreciate this, however when clicking the link to FREEDOM on the sales forums it takes me to the forum homepage. (have now found the thread regarding membership... I'm happy to do that, this was more to gauge whether people think that would be the more profitable thing to do, which it seems it might be...
  10. It still goes - I drove it back to Somerset from London to get it looked at (probably unwise, in hindsight). It just shakes an awful lot... Apparently the injector had come loose and is pretty broken. And with regards to putting it up for sale on here unfortunately 1) I'm not a FREEDOM member, and 2) I have no idea how much I'd advertise it for - which is, apparently, required...
  11. Summary: Scrap or sell privately for parts? Alas, my injector misfire fault has grown into more than the expected wiring loom problem and it turns out it's going to require an injector change and some other bits and bobs. The car has done 180,000 and, being in London and rarely using it, it's with a degree of sadness that I declare it probably more economical to get rid of it (in terms of tax/insurance/servicing etc.). Anyway, it's at my parents house in Somerset at the moment and my mother suggests scrapping it. I wonder whether I can make a few more pennies out of selling it privately for parts (for instance, to one of your lovely selves). It's in good nick other than the injector issue and recently had a big service that replaced a shedload of stuff. Any ideas/suggestions? Cheers
  12. Just a little more info. to add. - The vibration doesn't change when idle if clutch is depressed or not. - If coasting (i.e not on accelerator and clutch not depressed) the vibration is much less than when under load, but is still there just about. - Tends to smooth out about about 2200 RPM. - The initial misfire code was 16685. Cy 1 - The MPG is dreadful. - The engine management light stays on amber from start now and the fault occurs almost immediately after turning the engine on (before it would stop after a restart). I have, unfortunately, had to drive the car a bit over the last week or so because of moving house. I'm going to try and get the injector wiring loom changed with a mate (who is more handy at such things than I, provided I can find a guide or some kind of instruction on here) this weekend and see where that leads me.
  13. A mate said it sounded like it could be the clutch or DMF. That's going to cost a few hundred quid though...
  14. Similar to another topic just posted, but I have a little more context. My VRS is about 14 years old now, 175000 miles. Recently when accelerating it, occasionally (and only in 5th or 6th gears), would feel like it was 'slipping' the revs would drop. It almost felt as if I was trying to accelerate on a slippery road - just losing power/traction. Then I was driving home the whole car started to shake violently under acceleration in a certain rev range. The frequency of the vibrating would increase as the revs increased. Shortly after this it started to shake when idle also. The engine management light is on orange and when I drive it now (unfortunately I need to use it as I'm moving house - but it's not a long journey) it starts okay but will soon exhibit 'the shakes' when I accelerate. Usually in third gear, but that may be a coincidence. First garage I went to said there was a cylinder misfire code on. Another garage I called said it sounded like a misfire. The third garage said the misfire was an old code and they thought it was something to do with the turbo cutting out because it was trying to run too hard or something. Any ideas? I don't want to pour money into trying to get this fixed, but similarly I could do with it lasting me a little longer if possible... Otherwise I need to know how to dispose of it for the best money - but that's another thread in itself! Here's a vid of it accelerating (starts shaking about 10-15 seconds in): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uQu71q_ClOq7VPud-ggZdODc1JyO2qQY/view?usp=sharing Cheers
