  1. I personally wouldn't use a standard 'scissor' jack to be swapping wheels regularly. I use a trolley jack like the one in this link: http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/trolley-jacks-axle-stands/halfords-2-tonne-trolley-jack I use a block of wood between the jack and the sill of the car and all has been well so far. Hope that helps, Matt
  2. My Mum's just ordered one - wanted something 'funky'. Then she was a little annoyed I think when I said that I didn't like it, but that it was her car. Apparently it's better in the flesh, but I remain to be covinced!
  3. I've sorted some winter tyres for my Octavia too Continential Wintersports is what I have gone for - first time I'll have used winters so I am hoping for good things.
  4. Thanks Sounds good to me. Can I be cheeky and asked how much you paid? No worries if you don't want to. PM if you want. Matt
  5. Looking good seriously tempted do do mine now. You fitted the Pro springs then yes? So about a 15mm drop? I also assume that you used the same parts numbers as discussed above? How does the car ride and handle now? Final question (honest :P ) what do you think are the benefits of a Skoda dealer fitting them? Sorry about the interrogation :S
  6. Will do - I haven't seen one yet though! A mate at work has a 182 but that hasn't got a sunroof, obviously he has some sense :P
  7. Coming home today I saw a Y reg Corsa, with more parcel tape than you have ever seen placed over the seal around the boot. I can only assume the boot seal was leaking!
  8. Hi Jon, Having another look at this website: http://web2.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?11=279&10=5E7105CFFDC044F9B16430102D8CA3D7279001&14=1&12=100 (I use Chrome and it will translate it for me) It looks like the axle load depends on whether your car will have a beam axle or independent suspension on the rear axle. My understanding is that its only the VRS that has independent suspension, but don't quote me. IF the black edition has a beam rear axle, the website above indicates part number E10-79-010-04-22 to be the right ones. IF it has independant suspension it appears to be E10-79-010-02-22. Hope this helps, Matt
  9. Mine gets left in Sports mode I don't have any issues with 1st gear, and I am currently averaging 51MPG so I don't think that's too shabby. I personally quite like the generated sound, but when cruising at constant throttle it dies away almost completely so it's not intrusive. I might have a play with normal on my way home now though!
  10. Many apologies, the challenge was a truck of the same colour as your car - I chose a Stobart truck, hence me thinking it was a Stobart challenge. Please accept my humblest apologies I shall just have to repeat the exercise now!!
  11. Hehe Does that make the gap between you and him smaller or bigger though??
  12. Sorry to be a party pooper, but we have had the Stobart challenge before :( However I do like the idea of the cheesy picture mentioned above!!
  13. Hello! I am having a clear out and came across this so giving it a chance on here before eBay. Its a Skoda trolley token that saves you using a £1 coin when you go to the supermarket. It's brand new and even comes in the bag it came in It is marked on the back with dealership details, in this case Robert Eardley. Shall we say £2 posted, within the UK? Thanks, Matt
  14. Sounds like a plan to me. I currently use a small block of wood without a groove in and have caused no damage so far, just made sure I put it where the jacking point is marked
  15. Car has done about 96,000. I checked the driveshafts for play (with the wheels off the ground), I could barely feel any between any of them to be honest. But when I was manourvering around the creaking was there for most of the steering travel, and I seem to remember looking into it before and found the suggestion that it may be the track rods to blame. I think I need to do a little more digging, because I am not sure I need to go replacing driveshafts just yet! Edit - I checked the CV boots to and found nothing wrong, there was no errent grease either
  16. Moved it off the drive so I could do an oil change on the Fiesta
  17. Good point! Thanks, I'll check them in the morning...
  18. Thanks - just wanted to run it past someone else However it looks like they aren't too cheap :(
  19. HI all, Just a quick rack of your brains, I driving my fiesta earlier this afternoon and there has developed a fair bit of knocking when manoeuvring at low speed, which gets worse the closer to full lock you get. Am I right in thinking this is probably the joints in the drive-shafts wearing out? I am sure I read that at some point on here. Thanks, Matt
  20. I can see where you are coming from I haven't got much interest in doing VCDS adaptions so I am looking at other data loggers currently
