  1. he drives a 3 series diesel nothing flash or provokative and the guy was wearing a full uniform
  2. Just to let you guys know a pal of mine was recently followed by a white audi a3, which sat inches from his rear bumper and persisted to slow down and then rapidly accelerate up behind him to sit on his arse, the a3 driver did this several times, attempting to encourage a race of some sort. my pal was then overtook only to realise it was a traffic police officer in an unmarked car. this was on roads in north east derby. keep your eyes peeled.
  3. the mk 1 octavia came above the golf mk 4 in build quality reviews back in the day aswell. interesting really. my dad has a mk 2 facelift and he openly admits the my mk 1 is just another level of build quality. proper bargains skodas are especially older ones
  4. all share the same floorpan with golfs, audis, seats, lamborgini and bugatti to name a few. VAGs are just superior in my opinion for value, build quality and performance. another league above the likes of ford and vauxhall which are still decades behind. yet you can pick up decent a4s and octavias cheap nowadays
  5. cheers guys i'll check that stuff out. nice engine bay by the way!, im going to have to get some hoses like that. ive done some research and the s3 lower struts look good, nice price as well. do you chaps know if i can still pick them up at my local audi dealership? or where i could buy them. looking forward to a bit of tinkering. thanks dave
  6. hello! i am curious as to where i could get a decent strut top brace for a good price, one that doesnt involve any drilling into the strut tops. do any of you chaps have some good examples? also steering rack braces for underneath the car if you guys know what i mean? id like to improve my handling cheers chaps dave

  10. Hello there, my rear brakes are binding badly, the discs are hardly worn but are scored. the pads look fine. the guide pin on one my calipers is siezed. I am asking to see if the vrs mk 1 rear disc brakes are the sameas a golf mk 4? any information chaps? as id just like to get a rough idea of how much it will be to buy new parts before i start taking parts apart. cheers chaps
  11. it's not genuine!, it's off the trip computer. i've heard the trip computer over reads by up to ten percent so I think it's still pretty good. I just wonder if the spark plugs or flush actually helped. yeah, short journeys are expensive!
  12. Hi there. a few days ago I did an oil change, with forte flush and used quantum oil. new oil filter and spark plugs I've found my average mpg is about 30, butt on a twenty mile mostly motorway journey, driving sensibly, occasionally booting it I managed 41 mpg , which I was quite impressed with. just goes to show these 1.8s are decent engines! my old fiesta 1.2 averaged about 35! what are your mk 1 mpgs like?
  13. Hi there Could anyone point me in the right direction to where I could purchase a decent vag com for my mk 1 octavia. Are there different kinds? Cheers chaps Dave

  16. hi there, I'm trying to learn more about my engine in my mk 1 vrs. I'm also doing a general service my self . I was wondering if any you peops on here could advise me spark plugs and coils for the plugs? I understand I need NGK pfr6q plugs 06b905115r coils however I have heard that the audi coils are better? do you know where I could get stone genuine ones for at a good price? any info or advice/secrets would be great. cheers for any help. 18. hi I'm Dave and I've recently purchased a .mk 1 octavia vrs. I'm new to briskoda. and I've joined up to get some technical help but also perhaps get a bit sociable with my car at meetings or something. the car appears to have some small modifications. I intend to bring the car back to standard. the previous owner installed a 'recirc BOV blow off dump valve' I'm not sure what this is, or what it does exactly, I'm guessing it's a dump valve, it sounds like it anyway, I am just wondering how I would go about getting a standard recirc and installing it? could you offer any advice? cheers Dave
