  1. Is it possible that one of the exhaust sensors is faulty ? And if so would this not throw up a fault code?
  2. No work carried out since October. 12 g was mentioned so was 70% the up sensor was high after the run 538 the back sensor was low he tried to warm it up sitting with his foot on the accelerator for about 10 min but it wasn't getting warmer as it's regulated to 2500 revs. best to drive it that's when he asked me to watch it was he drove and tell him the readout it got warmer when he drove it. He thought at first it might be a fault with the sensor but he said it was ok as it got warmer as he drove just not warm enough to do the regen? Then when he tried to do a forced regen it said drive the car kmp 0 he said it wouldn't lett him do it as it's not at the stage it needs one he said its still at the stage just to drive it he also said if the sensor was not working it would throw a fault code but it's still performing in its parametric ? Any ideas
  3. Hi my dpf light has come on in my car tonight and won't go out. I drove it for 50 minutes did not let the revs drop below 2000 rpm mostly the revs were at 3000rpm at 50mph in 4th gear but still it won't go out. I called skoda assit out the guy checked for fault codes there were none . We then went out in the car for a 4 mile run him driving with the revs sitting at 35000 revs to warm the exhaust temp sensor up enough to do a forced regen. Then when we got back his computer would not lett him do a forced regen as it wasn't at that stage where a fault light had come on. There was nothing else he could do so his advice to me was get it on the motorway and keep driving till the light goes out i, m in scotland i might end up in London tomorrow. On a serious not i, m gonna drive it down to gretna does anyone have any idea what revs i should drive at. I don't do short distance drivingas my daily ccomte is 50 miles any ideas folks? I have had the car for 2 and a half years and never seen the light come on till tonight.
  4. the wheels are in motion should have a call tomorow about another car while mine is getting fixed. Its only a small ding but it's peace of mind that there is nothing serious underneath the car.they are looking at 100% from his insurance.
  5. yeah I'm thinking I had better get it checked properly now. Is it true that even though the other driver accepts responsibility and it be his insurance paying out that it will affect my insurance as well ?
  6. Sitting at a set of temporary traffic lights tonight the lights were at red. I looked in my rear view mirror to see a set of headlights coming to fast just new he was gonna hit me. felt the bump he almost stoped in time might have even been slower than 10mph. pull over swapped details he was driving a Ford galaxy no damage. I have about a 1 inch crese in my bumper it's not cracked the paint. The boot opens and closes alright the bumper space on each side looks the same I've been underneath the crumple zones both look ok I, ve had the spare out and checked the floor of the boot it looks ok. Advise please guys it is dark I, ll check it over in the morning in day light but i, m thinking if that's all I see and it looks ok in daylight can't be arsed with that hassel of insurance company's over a small crease might just leave it at that what do you recon guys? I, m kinda just glad to be ok when I fist saw the headlights I thought this is gonna hurt but he somehow almost stoped.
  7. Hi My car turns three years old next week. My manufacturer warranty and roadside assistance runs out and I'm just looking for some advise on the best option to go for. I have had the car back a lot at the dealers over the three years for warranty work so just doing nothing is not an option.I had a letter from skoda assitance saying I can cover the car for another two years for £155. I had an e mail from skoda extended warrenty and I can get another years warranty for £220 but am I correct in saying that the breakdown and warrenty are not as comprehensive as the warrenty I had before? I also have had a look at the rac for breakdown and parts and labour cover for the battery and home start that comes in at £250. Finally I got a quote from warrenty wise for 3 years warrenty for £910 but this does not include breakdown cover. I would like to also add that I got a letter saying my car is affected with the volkswagon emissions scandal. Has anyone out there got experience with these options and what do you think my best option would be ? The car has just has its first mot and a recent service and has been running great for the last 4 months I would like to keep the car another 3 years.
  8. That's good advice if your wipers are streaking on the window, but when I picked my car up my wipers were perfect as they should be as they are only 1 day old in my opinion they were just trying to get more cash out of me probably say the same to everyone.
  9. Does anyone know of any good independent garages in the livingston scotland area for my future car servicing. I am sick of the main dealer rip of prices and not doing the correct work I ask for. I had my car in for its 1st mot today and a full variable service at the dealers . The car passed its mot with a couple of advisories the first one was that they recomend all three wipers are replaced, the next one was air con service for £75 then they wanted £49 for the brake fluid to be replaced. I replaced all three wiper blades myself just yesterday when I told the service guy this he said in a flustered way skoda ask us to recomend wipers at service time how about checking them first? Then I noticed that none of the filters have been replaced except of course the oil filter. I have had the car serviced at the main dealers three times in the three years I've had it. To top it all i told the service guy that the car was on variable service and i wanted it to stay that way as i do around 16000 miles a year he said sure no problem i, ve just noticed my next service is in 9400 miles acording to the dash, so they have put it back on fixed. So what did i get for my £225 an oil change and a MOT ? Pretty annoying so any info on an independent garage near where I can get the air con done and the brake fluid changed and future service would be great.
  10. Belvideer vodka lemonade and lime :cocktail:
  11. My insurance renewal came in £70 more this year,I thought no problem I will just shop around and get it cheaper somewhere else.I was only paying £190 last year the best I could do was £250 I've had no claims I have no points on my licence. It just looks like insurance is getting more expensive each year

  13. Sounds like the track rod ends had the same problem with my fabia fixed under warranty.
  14. I am just going a similar situation where my contract says three months but I only gave one month. I have been there sixteen years but they knew my mind was made up. If you get the job just hand in your 2 weeks notice and if they say it has to be one month just say sorry about that but i start my new job in two weeks. If you can get a couple of referances elsewhere then there's nothing they can do. It would be more hassel than its worth taking you to court for breach of contract.no one wants an employee working for them that don't want to be there. I only have 5 days left to work and it's been a huge weight of my shoulders already. Goodluck
  15. I was at work loading trucks for super markets and had no radio. I was getting updated by the drivers of the trucks of what was going on At one point it was reported there were seven hijacked planes there was a lott of confusion that day. It was a very long day i did not get home till 10pm. I switch on the tv and could not belive my eyes looked like a movie. I have no problem watching a documentery on it i will always remember that day.
  16. ask skoda to check the turbo presure sensor wiring loom. I have had lots of problems with this sensor and the dealer just kept putting a new one on then a month later another and so on for months now.I got skoda uk on the case and today just picked my car up from haveing the loom done. All is good at the moment time will tell.
  17. I have had the same problem with my car fabia tdi 1.6 seven times since I bought it one and a half years ago. As I type this my car is in the skoda garage yet again but each time they say it's fixed a couple of months later it doe it again. It was the turbo pressure sensor the first time the second time it was the egr valve loom chaffing. The 3rd time it was flashing but would not start skoda assit got it started but could not find a fault. The 4th time was the same thing it went into the dealers for 1 week but could not replicate the problem so I got it back. The 5th time it was the turbo pressure sensor again.6th time wouldn't start could not get it to do it again. Then yesterday the turbo pressure sensor again skoda assit said it must be something else the guy checked all the conecting and there is no corosion he left the fault code for the garage to see. He can't get to the bottom of the problem. I have really lost faith in the car now I, m just hoping this time they find whats been causing these problems. I hope urs is a quick fix un like mine.I only have 3 months warranty left.
  18. I had a work colleague who left to work with this new company 2 years ago as he couldn't take it no more at my current employer he loves it. Then a job came up for friends and families at his new place and 2 interviews and a couple of tests later I got the job.It will take my replacement about 1 years training to be compitant at the job I do as it's mainly experience based.they have had no internal takers of my position so after a few days the counter offers started to come my way. They just don't want to lose someone with 16 years experience they offer me more money and tried the you will lose your pension line the shifts can't be changed. To me it's not about money I feel if I keep on doing mental shifts I won't see my pension.i worked 16 days on the trot once and that's no fun.
  19. Really sorry to hear this kind of puts things in perspective. Thanks
  20. Hi I am starting a new job next month and I've been told by a few people now I, m making a big mistake. (All peaple I work with I should add). I have worked for the same company for 16 years now I, m 40 years old the company pension is a good one a final salary pension that i have been paying into for 15 years. However the job itself is dragging me down its 5 days a week rolling rota which means i work a lott of weekend shifts it's 5 30 am to 330 pm the early starts are taking there toll. The job itself is making me pretty miserable i, l not go into to many details but i, m done with it. I basically have got myself a new job its a step backwards for me but when my shifts done i can just switch of for the rest of the day i, m 24 hrs 7 days a week on call with my old job. I will be working less hours in this new job Mon to Thurs off Fri sat sun and it's actually a grand more money a year. The new pension would not be final salary but if I put in 5% the company puts in 10 %. I will get to spend more time with my family a little bit more money in my pocket a month and I feel I would enjoy the stress free of it oh and I don't have to get up at 4 30 am as the new job would be 7 am start and a little closer to home. My current employer is asking me to stay as I will lose out on the pension but would you stay in a job that's dragging you down for the pension ?
  21. I just had to replace my brakes front discs and pads and rear brake shoe kit in my fabia 2 years old 24000 miles. This i am told is due to corosion but it's not like the car sits on the drive for days on end I drive around 60 miles a day. It cost me £420 at skoda to have this work done a very expencive lesson but I won't be going back to skoda for new brakes again.
  22. I had the same issue on my fabia.I could hear a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel at low speed. The dealer said there is a known issue new track rod ends and 4 wheel alignment under warranty the noise has now gone
  23. yeah it will be covered by the warranty had mine done last month.
  24. A work colleague told me that he had just fitted two part worn winter tyres on the front of his car. I asked him what was on the back he said 2 summer tyres. I told him that that was not a good idea But he said it was as its a front wheel drive car and he got them cheap 50 for both with alloy wheels. I tried to point out that if he has to brake hard at speed the car will be all over the place but there was no talking to him. It worries me a wee bit as he drives his wife 5 year old boy and 1 year old daughter around in this car. There is no talking to some people.
