  1. I would say it's more a roller than a wheel, but I know what you mean.
  2. Could always put the space saver on the rear and move the rear to the front if you got a front puncture. More of a faff, but an option.
  3. It's possible, might need to get it checked then. Most of my mileage is between Chapeltown and Chesterfield (M1 and ring road) so not particularly twisty roads, and I'm averaging 50mpg so it's not like I'm caning it everywhere. Even got 72mpg on a run down to Solihull this week.
  4. Erm... :peek: so what *should* you use? I'm asking for a friend....
  5. There's a long topic on it here Not sure why, but searching seems to be a bit screwed up at the moment, searching for retro fit, or cruise control, doesn't find that topic
  6. Hi all I had my tyres changed over yesterday to some Vredestein all season jobbies. The chaps at the tyre place mentioned that while all 4 tyres had worn pretty evenly (in fact, they asked if it was 4x4 because it was so even), all 4 of them had excessive wear on the inside shoulders. I swapped front and back at ~12000 miles to even out the wear between them, so it could be that all the shoulder wear was done at the front, or it could be that it happened on the back. Is this normal? I seem to recall that my Civic used to wear the inside edge more at the front end, but this seemed more extreme.
  7. I've just had a set of Vredestein Quatrac 3 All Season tyres fitted to my VRS. Used to have winters on a set of 16" steelies on my Civic, but lack the storage space now, so having to try the all season option. The original Conti SportContact 2's lasted 19.5k miles, which doesn't seem too bad.
  8. What I would comment is that you can get new panels stitched in. My ex wife had an MG ZT-T a few years back and that bolster got a tear in it somehow. Got a new one put in at a car upholsterers, can't remember exactly how much, but think it was less than £100
  9. If you do find a cheaper way, be sure to come back and tell us. I'm sure in the "retrofit cruise" thread there was someone claiming to work at a dealer and having done a number of retrofits just using instructions from Skoda and no special codes.
  10. I was doing about 15000 miles per year when I bought my VRS TDI manual, was offered a slightly newer TSI for the same price, but at that mileage it would have worked out expensive... Now dropped my mileage to about 13000m per year, but still not low enough for the TSI in my opinion. Getting about 52mpg on a commute that's mostly ring-roads, can easily get high 50's on the motorway if I keep the speed below 70.
  11. I guess it depends what you want, they're quite different cars. We have an O3 VRS TDI and a Rapid 1.6 TDI, both bought secondhand. The O3 is much nicer (IMHO) but it should be, it cost nearly twice as much!
  12. If anyone was hoping for the Vredestein Quatrac 5 to be released in VRS size (225/40 R18), I emailed Vredestein about it and they're hoping to start it next year. Unfortunately a year too late for me :/
  13. Surely minimum effort would just be to change for all season tyres? I'm going to be taking that option, as I no longer have storage space for a set of winters.
  14. You may find it improves as it beds in. I used to spend up to a grand upgrading the sound system in the past, but the standard Bolero is the best "standard" system I've ever had in a car and I'm finding it quite acceptable.
  15. I'm averaging about 50-52 mpg, my commute is 50 mile round trip, brief motorway stint then the rest is ring roads etc. The economy difference between cruising at 60mph and 80mph is very noticeable though.
  16. Just a pot in the cup holder with a slot in it - my MY14 came with one, I don't keep my phone in it though.
  17. Auto-headlights, phone holder, and USB port have all been standard since the new VRS was launched. The flat botttomed steering wheel is standard on the 2015 Model Year. Congratulations btw, hope you enjoy it!
  18. Farsider, it's not a VRS that's been made firmer, it's an Elegance that's been made firmer.
  19. Well, that's kind of what I meant, the gubbins under the floor supporting the floor in the middle - do cars without spare wheels have all that?
  20. Maybe the people who've had it cave in didn't have the spare wheel underneath supporting it? Mine seems ok, but I have the rubber mat and a spare wheel...
  21. Just looking at the octavia black edition... how can it be a black edition when the grill surround is still chrome! The only thing that seems to be black over the normal one is the wheels!
  22. I'm sure someone told me that it's solvents etc leaching out of the interior trim when the car heats up in the sun and being deposited on the windows.
