I've had it posted on my facebook page about 6 times now...

It's cool, the guy who organised the tour I went on last time says he can get in to Duga on all of his forthcoming tours, so I'll get there eventually :-)

Stop talking about seeing Duga...Every time you say it I get super jealous and mutter bad words under my breath...People at work are starting to look at me funny :-p

If anything, that sounds a little too right ;-)

I don't understand how they aren't as excited by the project as all of us on here are? It makes no sense that they'd rather be tinkering about with Golfs when they could be working on something that will clearly add a massive level of respect to their reputation. My money is that they think they've bitten off more than they can chew with it and don't have the skills to finish it.

Right on the money there I think...People still consider bikes to be more of a luxury/plaything in this market rather than as a day to day necessity as one would be seen in India/Indonesia.

Sadly as the custom scrambler currently has massive filterless intake trumpets and a straight through, unsilenced, exhaust system it's chances of becoming a production bike are slim...It would be awesome though! The Ducati Scrambler is a bit more reminiscent of the standard Triumph Scrambler with a couple of extra Ducati touches to my eyes anyway. There seems to be a bit of a resurgence in the sports sector at the moment, the Kawasaki H-2 for instance... Thanks for the interest by the way, hope you're all voting? ;-)

Hullo, As probably none of you know, I work as an admin guy for a design team at Triumph Motorbikes. Over the last few months, two teams of engineers have been working on some very special bikes... I'm biased as I helped out the team who built the custom scrambler, but they're both pretty monsterous achievements. Turns out the sensor had become disconnected, all fine now.

Hullo, I've seen a couple of pictures round and about of headlights that have had parts of the interior painted. Oh right, they most definitely didn't have that level of diagnostic equipment...Goddamn it. It's been working just fine though, seems odd that this error code/limp mode thing has just flashed up all of a sudden.

The parts were genuine, but the garage that did the work had never worked on a CR before...They ended up screwing up the oil feed to the turbo, so I took it to a VAG specialist to have that rectified, and then the EGR died and got fixed by the second garage.

I am mechanically inept for the most part, I can give it a look later, assuming I can find it, do think that could be the cause?

So, i've got a an error code, warning light and limp mode...The whole 9 yards. 18996/P2564/009572 - Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit: Signal too Low I've tried clearing off the error code and it comes back straight away, doesn't make it out of limp mode at all. I've called the garage and they seemed to think it could be an electrical fault rather than anything more serious...I've had the wastegate actuator and EGR cooler swapped out recently, so is it likely that something got disturbed causing a wire to rub through on the sensor possibly? The light came on last night, I went for a fairly spirited start from a set of lights along a nice empty straight road, the warning light came on and straight into limp mode. Previously it's been running beautifully, no drops in power, no weird noises from the turbo, no black smoke. Car is a VRS CR170 TDi.

The place in America is Centralia...I believe the town was the insipration for the Silent Hill series of games and films. There are so many awesome deserted place in the world that would be amazing to visit...For me I love seeing how nature forces it's way back into man made structures, the way Prypyat has all been swallowed up by the trees etc is mind blowing.

It does seem like your tour was more well thought out and generous time wise than the one I went on...I'm intending to go back at some point in the future and I'll make sure it's something more along the lines of what you did!

The original plan was to travel out from Kiev in a minibus, do a bit of a tour around the outlying villages in the exclusion zone, on to Prypyat, then a night at a guest house in the exclusion zone, next day was a quick look at the reactor then on to more exploring in Prypyat and a drive back to Kiev. As it turns out though, it's super cheap to get drunk in the Ukraine, so myself and the two friends I went with ended up having a night that was way too reminiscent of the film The Hangover (Complete with lost phones, lost hours, 3 course meals at 3am and a midget in a ringmasters uniform) so we ended up only doing the second day of the tour sadly.

Was this trip organised by Dylan at Lupine travel? I went there about this time last year with Lupine, but sadly I didn't get to see half the stuff you saw...I was massively jealous when he put up pictures from Duga-3, I wanted to go there as much as Prypyat! I'm currently in discussions with him to get out to another ghost town I've found in eastern Russia if you're interested...
