  1. Car spent 99 days with dealer in first 1.5 years, mainly stop start errors but also headlight issue and indicator that did not self correct!
  2. Andy - yes that would be good thanks for the offer. I may have it swapped by then though, fingers crossed! I will let you know. No I don't know Tony!
  3. Sounds like you're in for a long bumpy ride like me. Last time mine was in ( taking it to day 99 in the garage) they organised a "skoda technical visit" from a "senior technician" and they still could not find the root cause. I am told the same thing, the error code does not log anything and the have also driven the car when the car faults.
  4. I bought my vrs as an ex demo with 300 miles on the clock in Jan 2014. Since that time I have done 5000 miles and the car has spent 99 days in the dealers whilst they try and repair it. I have a reoccurring fault with stop start and epc/engine management system lights coming on. Dealer claims they can never replicate the fault and it never logs an error code. I do however always take a photo of tge fault messages with the mileage as proof. So far they have replaced ecu, turbo , sensors and all the wiring to the stop start, but still the error comes back every time. I have been trying for a replacement vehicle for a year and now resorted to using the financial ombudsman to support me. I still have not been offered a swap or new vehicle.
  5. Well when I posted here back in November the fault never appeared again so I did not book it in. But alas last week it happened again and then every time I restarted the car. So I booked in and got he car back the same day but I am sure it will come back again. Therefore I am trying to pursue a replacement car because after 4300 miles and with this many faults it is simply not acceptable!
  6. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!! The fault is BACK. Driving this evening and the error warning came up again after nearly 4 months with no problems. I have only done 3400 miles! After several months of messing around last time they changed the ECU which seemed to do the trick. Wander what they'll try now!?
  7. Had the car over a week and new ECU is holding just fine! Managed to get £450 towards anything on skoda network after heavy negotiation! Getting a new sat nav, hot and cold box, boot storage bag and a load of cycling gear. Happy skoda owner once again! : )
  8. I had 'check right dipped headlight' warning a few times. Dealer saw it logged, replaced some parts and have had no probs since
  9. I got the car back today! So far the new ECU seems to have sorted it, but let's give it another 100 miles or so!
  10. Took your advice Andy and said I am rejecting if problem not resolved within 7 days. No acknowledgement from garage but I know they forwarded the email to customer services as they told me when I spoke to them. Today I learnt that there are no ECUs in stock in UK so one is being sent from factory. I have been given no timeline for when it will arrive in uk. Bare in mind the ECU swap was determined as nxt step last Friday! I asked customer services what the 'gesture of good will' would amount to if by some miracle the car was returned this week! I was told they do not give cash compensation. I would get a voucher to purchase skoda accessories or money off a service, I have 3 years free servicing already! I have gone beyond anger and frustration now, just amazed at how long this saga goes on!
  11. Cheers for the advice guys. Yeah I have been logging the equivalent finance payments I have been paying in relation to the time I have not had the car. They have given me a courtesy car, a 1.2L Rapid, not quite the equivalent to what I am paying for! If I do reject I would prefer a new car rather than money back because when I have had it, I love it. What does worry me is if I reject the car and they accept there will be a long wait for a new car and will they still give me the courtesy car!? Then I could be left with no transport for 5-6 months! I just feel like I need to take some sort of action because this has been going on so long and I can't see the end point. Saying that, changing the ECU must stand a good chance of fixing it!? I would imagine this is an expensive bit of kit and a lengthy job so is the last resort, but a strong chance of fixing it. Maybe I should give it one more week like you said Andy but also send a letter to dealership manager and finance company to relay my frustrations and say rejection is close to being my next step?
  12. Factory now says to replace ECU. Garage will do this early next week. Still no guarantees this sorts he problem. Day 108 ownership, day 42 in the garage. Told customer services I am almost at the point of requesting a new vehicle, they said if I wish to do this I need to put it in writing, going to send the letter monday. If I do reject the car not sure how this puts my relations with the dealer!? If they are doing everything under guidance of the factory I guess it won't put them in a bad light?
  13. there was a bit of sarcasm in my last post but I was hoping for a bit more than that! What's up with yours!?
  14. Here is the update: factory have been working on it since last Friday and have got no further in resolving the problem. I now stand at 106 days ownership, 40 days spent in the garage! Customer services have said I will get a gesture of good will as compensation. New car with a few extras thrown in would be nice!!
  15. So, garage phoned me today for an update. They have carried out some 'telly diagnostics' with skoda technical. Skoda technical could not understand the problem or how to resolve so they have logged it with skoda factory. (The garage finally took the case number regarding your issue Andy!). God knows how long it will take for the information to get to the right person at the factory and then for the resolution to be communicated and implemented back down the chain!? Skoda uk have not got back in contact since I logged a case with them yesterday so I will be calling them tomorrow as well. Feeling pretty deflated now and wandering when I will ever see my car again : ( !?
