  1. Well, i fitted mine last night, but rather than the sharp cutoff with very little light above it, my car has the cutoff at the same height, but above that it seems to light up the house over the road! Took it for a quick drive and nobody flashed me or anything so could just be that I'm not used to it! I'll get a pic later!
  2. Hi guys, Just wondering what the light spread is like with the retrofit kits into halogen projector lamp units. I've got a kit, but would like to know how other Mk2 Octavias throw the light out as with halogens the cutoff is pretty sharp! I've read many varying posts on retrofit kits, so actual proof rather than "this would happen", "it's Illegal and you'll die" and similar comments, please
  3. Do you have a Stream, or Stream MP3? I have the MP3 and have the aux in under the armrest. What do you have on your sticker? Do you have an Aux option on the stream unit itself? If you do, i would imagine the aux input has been removed or never fitted and could probably be installed with the relevant cable and terminating into the pins as per the pictures? I wouldn't have thought the unit specs are different, just what cables are terminated :/ If your handy with a soldering iron, this could be an option? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/233548-fitting-aux-in-to-2005-stream-not-mp3-version/
  4. With all that power id expect a much quicker 0-60 time!
  5. I took a headlight out in around 40 seconds earlier, my first ever headlight removal! So far thats my favourite feature on my car! If it IS an aftermarket HID kit, just check which lamps have been fitted. If they're higher than 6000k then I'd suggest maybe putting it back to halogen (nightbreakers seem to have good reviews on here!) Or something under 6000k.
  6. Cheers guys! Ah! Ive noticed there's a few memebers in and around Norwich! Where abouts are you? Im a few miles south in Poringland!
  7. 6.5"/17cm all round, same as every other VAG car You can buy adaptors to keep the original plugs aswell! They're component all round rather than coaxial.
  8. Well....idle and revving, battery shows between 13.9 and 14.3v, no lower, no higher...
  9. Thanks guys! Seems my Thoughts look to be correct then. It seems strange that it does it while driving aswell though? I can drive around 2 miles with it constantly, after that it's fine. I'll get it checked out over the weekend and report back!
  10. Hi guys, hopefully an easy question! When i start the car, all the lighting dims and brightens. I've been told it is the 'inteligent charging' system coupled with a brand new battery. For the past 3 days, the battery light has come on when starting the car, but disappears when you touch the throttle...it's been quite cold for those 3 days, but i wouldn't have thought it was enough to take charge out of the battery? My assumption would be that the alternator isn't working correctly, but this was replaced in January last year at 90k miles... The car is a 2006 1.9 PD105 (bxe engine code?). The dimming stops after a couple of minutes of driving, but returns when stationary? I can run the car at idle for 15mins+ and it will do it continually, as soon as you move after this the dimming goes. If it's normal, which it doesn't sound, the i guess ill just have to live with it, but if it's not, the car is still under warranty thankfully! Strangely though, i test drove the car in the dark, and the dimming wasn't there, but has been since the new battery was fitted? Just seems strange to me! With how it is, if I'm in a hurry in the dark, it could be quite dangerous!
  11. Evening all, Recently picked up a '56 Octavia PD105 Elegance estate, so far so good! Search function has proved useful already! Got a couple of niggles that will be sorted soon... Anyway, i'll continue browsing!
