  1. Had an assessment a little while ago. The repairer (East Bilney Coachworks) said he reckons it will be a repair rather than write off, just have to get approval from the insurers Happy about that, but at the same time i can't help but be slightly disappointed :/
  2. I'm currently feeling a bit unsure of claiming...it's an 8yr old car and would probably be written off...although if it is i would imagine it to be a Cat C or D so could buy it back and use any cash to either FL it, or VR rep it and get a remap etc... But then if it is just a case of unbolting some parts and replacing them without a claim, it doesn't get written off...I know a Rep or FL will be a lot more than £250, but would have though a new bumper, support, crash bar and bonnet would be achievable if i can find a rear ended octy... The mini will be going through insurance so i will be getting a mark against me anyway, but my NCD is protected so won't lose it. If I go through insurance, i get a written of car to repair myself (I can't imagine genuine parts are cheap from Skoda!) with the possibility of a buy back... One thing that has bugged me though.....what kind of impact should set off the airbags? Nothing went off, no lights came on so i guess it wasn't hard enough?...
  3. 57 VRS Cr170 estate on Parkers is £6125 for a good private 70k car. Dealers is around £7.5. £6.5 seems spot on if its immaculate... Not very often I'd say this, but I love the Mondeo!!
  4. So, i had my first 'incident' in the Octavia this evening! Looked at the car behind as i thought it was a bit close, looked forward at a stationary Mini...ABS did nothing and locked up on a wet road.....not good. The other driver was a bit annoyed, but fine apart from that, so at least the important things are all well, thankfully. My query now though, is do i take it upon myself to replace the damaged parts myself, or go through my insurance? The 3rd party may claim for his number plate and cracked chrome trim (The only apparent damage to his Mini!) so i think i will have a fault against me anyway, but my excess is £250.... Looking at the car, it looks as though a new bonnet and bumper support are a definite requirement. The bumper looks to be scuffed, but not overly damaged, and (What i assume is) the intercooler (In front of the Radiator?) has a few bent fins... There looks to be a metal piece bent beside both headlights? No idea what they should look like? Pics attached to show what's been done :/ Straightened it as best i could, it now closes properly and latches as it should...the intercooler fins were bent by the bumper support, that's been pulled out a bit too. the main panels/legs etc seem fine and the headlights are still pointing as they should, no change in beam pattern at all! What do you guys think? My current idear is either a FL conversion if possible, or fit a VRS front bumper with a used bonnet and paint the grille, if used parts aren't going to far outweigh the excess....if i can't get the same color, i could well use this as an excuse to get all the little dents around the car filled and painted anyway as i know a pretty good sprayer who is also pretty keenly priced... And the damage to the Mini?....
  5. Hmmmm may have to have a look at mine, see if I can put one there! Is it effective?
  6. Where do you put the air freshener? Under the filter? I have a few in my previous car that could be reused!
  7. Good man! That's a very handy bit of software to have and you should get full support from RossTech as well! Is it All German cars? Always thought they only did VAG software?
  8. Maybe go for something like this if you have a full size spare wheel? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/285200-columbus-active-sub/ No space taken up and a deeper sound can be achieved... I like the look of our kenwood, the layout is good and yes, the DAB side is pretty good to (Planet Rock, anywhere!), ours is just very delayed! Touch it and it takes a few seconds to respond. If the satnav is on with no route planned it freezes...ours is actually a DNX5230DAB though... EDIT: My phone didn't show all the replies, apologies for the same advice!
  9. No idea on the retro fit, but if you can I'd find someone with that headunit. My company has put them in all of their vans (cheaper than fiats blue tooth/satnav unit) and I hate it. Really slow and the satnav freezes a lot! Pretty sure it's the same unit anyway! Sub in the boot...if putting it in the side, I wouldn't expect amazing results. What are you wanting from it, volume or sound quality, or a middle ground? As sceptical as I was, a custom MDF enclosure is the only way I would go now. I had a 37.5x10x5" enclosure built for my Mk3 Golf (needed to keep boot space!) and it sounded very good with 2x8" subs. Im going to have a go with my wagon, hoping for an 8-10" deep enclosure full width of the seats for a single 12" sub. I have the raised floor so the amp will go in there. I have a friend who builds them and he can do wonders with a small space requirement!
  10. My green wagon! Got a fair few little dents in it so may possibly stick it into a body shop for repairs and respray in another color at some point!
  11. I have a few friends who have this kit and swear by it. All have Mk4/Mk5 golfs and Bora TDIs that are VE 1.9s or PD100/105/110/115s. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130639438949?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D130639438949%26_rdc%3D1 That's what I'll be getting when my DMF goes, although it was replaced last year at around 80k, now on 115k...looking at a few hours labour on top though. Thats where friends come into it!
  12. I've just driven feom Norwich to Colchester and back. 60miles there of spirited back road driving and 70/75 on dual carriageways, retun trip at 60 max and main roads. Managed to get the computer to show 54mpg over 120odd miles... 2006 PD105 Elegance Estate.

  14. I don't know about the Octavias, but PD130/140/150 is a 6 speed in the Golf though I believe...
  15. I like my 2006 1.9, its only the PD105 but i will be having it remaped soon. A remap should see around 130-140bhp with around 260-270lb/ft, hopefully. SMF conversion depends on 5 or 6 speed as to which kit it needs and wht it would cost, I will be getting a G60/VR6 kit when my DMF starts to fail which will be around £300 for parts and labour. Agricultural? I think they are how a VW diesel should sound! It's different to every other diesel!
  16. I will be doing an SMF conversion on mine when the DMF starts to go. Ill be using a VW G60/VR6 clutch/Fly on my BXE. If you do go for it, 5 and 6 speed boxes are different sizes.
  17. That's a lot of mayo for short journeys! I had a few cars that get a small build up, but never that bad! If it was mine, I'd be looking at having a compression and pressure test done....if it is the head gasket it'd be better sorting it now than having the engine completely go...
  18. What do you get in the non smoking pack?? I just have visions of paying Audi to remove the Ashtrays and Lighter....
  19. At last, someone with some sense! I love my Mk3 16v! Prefer the sound of the VR6, but performance wise there isn't much in it. Unless it's my friends 502bhp VR6T..... I've not owned any other "hot" hatches, but if I had a big enough garage, and oversized wallet, I would have to have the Mk1, 2, 3 Golf GTis, 306 GTi, 106 GTi, and an Escort and Sierra Cosworth. Maybe chuck a Delta and CRX in there too....and an R32 Golf Mk4, just to say I have one...
  20. Also, how did you get a halogen full beam AND a halogen plus xenon full beam pic? Do you have seperate switches for them?
  21. I get 51mpg max! Averaging 38-42mpg according to the dash....BXE engine.
  22. Ours was turned around in a day, dropped it off at 8am, picked it up around 4. Have a day off work
