  1. Sorry maybe badly worded - he said theres a bag that bursts and can leak into the coolant, thats why I'm seeing debris in there.
  2. Spoke to a mechanic yesterday, he says it's almost 100% certain the coolant loss is due to a faulty ERG cooler - anyone know if thats correct and if its a big job? Also the brown stuff appearing in the water is due to the faulty heating element - quoted €1300 by Skoda dealer to repair - anyone know if thats a good deal?
  3. Thanks for that, I'm still not sure how to tell if the charge cooler is the cause? From cold on opening the water tank lid there is always a loud hiss of pressure - I'm pretty sure that shouldn't happen - does that point to the head gasket? Also this has been going on for a month or more now - if all that coolant has bene leaking into the engine and oil, would the engine even continue to run? After a minute of warming up it seems perfectly fine...
  4. My mechanic mate tells me it doesn't have one, is there any way I can check for sure?
  5. It doesn't have a charge cooler. I've asked a mechanic mate now and he's almost certain its the head gasket. Which isn't worth repairing, so new car time I bought the car new and 260,000km = just 161,000 miles I bought a Skoda cos I thought they'd be reliable and good for high mileage....I find this quite shocking if I do need a new car now...
  6. I can accept that the battery is getting old - but why would just waiting for a minute then trying again make any difference? Tempting fate but she's always started fine after doing this, sounds a bit rough for a minute then settles down and drives fine after that.
  7. 10 year old estate with 260,000km on the clock Driver side heating has been cold for 9 months Then a month or so ago car started using coolant - I'm currently topping up with a pint every 2-3 days depending on mileage (car is on its' 3rd water pump) In the past few weeks another issue; from cold on turning the key all I get is a brief click, doesnt seem to turn over. I wait a minute and try again and it seems to start fine. No issues after its warmed up. (Original battery is fitted). So my question is, could these issues be related at all?
  8. Quick bump for this - anyone got any ideas, before I go out of my mind, it's so annoying lol
  9. I listen to stuff like Tunein radio and podcasts etc all the time in the car. What happens a lot of the time is when I'm done listening to say Tunein and want to listen to a podcast the podcast will start but then after a few seconds the Tunein stream will start again, grabbing the audio - it can happen in reverse also, the podcast grabs the audio. What is really weird is this will still happen even though I pause the Tunein audio then close down the app (by swiping up on the phone) entirely. Can anyone say why that's happening?
  10. Does the Octy 3 have rigid plastic rear pillar trims? It does seem to but they're too far forward. More I think about it the more I think the solution would be 5 x plastic C clips as above - if I could just fix them individually to the interior just in front of the tailgate then that should be fine, but how to fix them?
  11. That's an idea but won't the whole thing sag down? I'd need 5 clips maybe 10cm apart.
  12. Something like these plastic clips would be ideal but how to attach them? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001909672250.html
  13. The suction cups on the windows could be an idea - could someone suggest reliable ones? The force on the webbing is a factor as they're pulled quite tight. Although the rods are very light they'll all have reels attached as well so adding a good bit to the weight there. I'm also trying to keep them as high up in the car as I can, both for comfort of rear seat passengers and also to hopefully deter theft, ie out of sight
  14. It's actually for fishing rod storage, I have a webbing rack that stretches across the existing grab handles but it needs to be further towards the rear by about 12-18", exact placement not too important. Wouldn't have to be a handle as such, even a stout metal ring would do fine. Another idea could be to use a mesh dog guard or similar but would be overkill for my needs. Even just a small narrow shelf in front of the tailgate hinges would do but I'm not sure how it could be fixed.
  15. Long story but I've got a need to fit 2 x extra grab handles on my estate, they will need to sit just in front of the tailgate. I'm thinking because of the fabric material on the inside of the roof a suction job wouldn't work. Anyone got any ideas?
